Hello hello! Here I am with good intentions to behave and show up to some meet ups since I utterly failed in 2011! Grin

So we need ideas for daytime meets and of course we must not forget our night time meets Wink

Daytime Ideas
Beamish
Saltwell Park, Gateshead
The Giants Den, Team Valley
Botanic Gardens
Beach (in the summer of course, unless we want airborne children!)

Okay so ideas for January daytime, I think cake is definitely in order so I propose the one that's next to Ebony, the huge place, down some steps, uhh... Slug & Lettuce is it? CAKE!

January night time? Is this something we want to plan? I know we're always poor after Christmas!

Well I spent my night cleaning up the vomit that kept errupting from dd. happy days.

Then for once in his life ds2 resettled at 6am and was asleep. Asleep. I was asleep too. then at 6.30 dh's alarm went off because he had decided that he was going bloody rowing before work.

I realise 6.30 is fairly ok for during the week really but I had been dealing with vomit on top of ds2 so I am allowed to be grumpy.

StealthPolarBear · 22/08/2012 07:11

:( what's up with d? Hope she's better soon and the rest of you avoid it

Indith · 22/08/2012 07:18

Don't know, she just started throwing up. Nobody else so far, I hope she keeps her germs to herself!

LeggyBlondeNE · 22/08/2012 09:49

Poor indith; poor D.

Are they still placid, sleepy little angels when sick at her age, or grumpy and a handful?

Indith · 22/08/2012 09:55

Varies Grin.

She was placid and sleepy from 7.30 to 9.30 with the odd bout of vomit. She is now bouncy and happy and acting out Goldilocks and the 3 bears Hmm.

Oh well if she eats something and keeps it down I migh tget an exciting trip to the Arnison for bits and bobs of school uniform.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 22/08/2012 17:10

Hope D's feeling better now.

We ended up at Wallington today and had a really nice day. The children had a play in the playground, went for a walk, explored the walled garden and finished off with a game of football and didn't fight once Shock More twisty, turny paths to explore than wide open spaces and a bit further to go than Gibside but definitely one to go to again.

Leggy, if you want to track down that book you were talking about on FB it might be worth asking if Viking or her DH have heard of it as they did archaeology.

LeggyBlondeNE · 23/08/2012 15:51

I think I figured it out actually - Roberta Gilchrist!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/08/2012 09:23

Am back from Bonnie Scotland sob

Please console me by meeting up for cake this week at the Botanics!

I can do any day except Monday!

Indith · 26/08/2012 21:12

Sorry Kara, Dh is off this week and we have lots of plans :)

Beans I meant to say sorry for staring blankly at you and doing a manic "I know this person I just have no idea who it is" grin. I do have a brain. I just seldom use it.

StealthPolarBear · 26/08/2012 21:36

Hi everyone. Back from Rainymere Windermere. Fun had by all. Exhausted.
Indith, I do that too, embarrassingly regularly.

Indith · 26/08/2012 21:43

Glad you had fun!

I am never going back to the lakes. In fact I am never going anywhere that is not right next to a motorway ever again.

Dd.

Carsick.

Seems to be getting worse.

Even managed to be carsick from a drive back from sodding Newcastle.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/08/2012 22:02

Oh dear, that does not sound good! Sorry you can't make it but you and DH have fun this week :)

Anyone else want to meet up? I can't do Thursday now, as I am booked up then!

StealthPolarBear · 26/08/2012 22:04

I can't, sorry Kara :( Tomrorrow will be busy, going to see cousin for lunch, then back at work. Will keep bumpng the thread :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/08/2012 22:20

Boo for going back to work!! I'm busy tomorrow as well, seeing my friend M :)

AM determined to be doing something all week!!

UmmOfUmbridge · 26/08/2012 23:23

Hello Northerners :)
Can I join you? I really really like cake... And cocktails...
I have 5 DC aged 16, 14, 8, 2 and 16 months and im also in my final year at uni ( have done 3rd year pt and started bloody thing in 2006!)

I'm currently going stir crazy due to the crap weather and school holidays. The age gaps make it difficult to please everyone. Was planning on spending 6 weeks at Chester park but the weather has wrecked those plans and we've been alternating swimming and bloody Hell on Earth soft play.

Would love to meet up sometime, uni doesn't start until October and even then it's only Mondays and Tuesdays :)

UmmOfUmbridge · 26/08/2012 23:25

Oh and those in Teesside, I go to uni in Thornaby

Indith · 27/08/2012 11:59

Hello Umbridge and welcome :)

What are you studying?

I'm buy all week but after that I am happy to eat cake regularly and often Grin.

I think ds2 is teething. He had jsut settled down loads, you could set your watch by his feeds but now he is all fussy and his latch has gone to pot and I can see a little sign of white below the surface at the bottom. I'd forgotten how mcuh of an arse teething is! He had his first taste of food yesterday, we took pity on him as he watched us eat out picnic. 25 weeks today Shock I've turned into an early weaner Grin. The boy can sit and since he reached out and tookt he banana off dh and shoved it in his mouth I'm going to conclude that he meets all the guidelines. Not sure he thought too much of it though, pulled a disgusted face then concentrated on mangling it rather than eating it Grin. Makes me feel all hormonally sad, that's it, my final baby is getting all grown up and it isn't just going to me me and my milk who grows him :(

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 27/08/2012 13:22

Hello Umbridge Smile. Like Indith I am happy to meet up for cake and cocktails as often as possible Grin

I am Shock DS2 went to bed at 8 and didn't wake up til 5:30, at which point he stuffed himself full of milk, rolled over and went back to sleep til 7:30. Shock Of course I was awake from 2am waiting for the little blighter to start shouting so I missed the opportunity for some lovely sleep. No doubt tonight he will be up every 20 mins.Hmm

Indith, at least you weaned on something healthy- remember T swiped cake off DH's plate when he decided he wanted to try food Grin. And A will definitely going to be after your milk for a while yet you don't get off that lightly Grin

Kara, I don't think I can meet up this week. We've managed to get a week off together so have plans. When does D start school? Is it part days for the first couple of weeks or do they go straight in?

UmmOfUmbridge · 27/08/2012 13:31

I'm studying biomedical sciences at Durham uni (Stockton campus). I'm bloody sick to death of it but am determined to finish.
DH currently considering a job offer in Saudi so may be even more in need of adult company very soon... Not sure what to think but we really could do with the money. It's very hard with 5 dc especially as ds is starting A Levels and will need help with uni fees etc...

My little ones were still running around going loopy at 9pm last night - jumping off the sofa and giggling at each other. Was trying to be strict but they were too cute. There's only 11 months between them and they are hilarious together. Dd4 is still co-sleeping at 16 months and she's a wiggly, head butting little thing. Really should evict her as I'm knackered but i know she's my last and I just love sleepy snuggles .

Indith · 27/08/2012 13:31

Wow! I hope the sleep continues!

DS2 currently asleep snuggled into me :) He says I'm not allowed to put him down today.

Oooh sleep etc, that's a point I need to put the side on the cot, I can't put ds2 down awake anymore, he rolls over the bed and fiddles with bedside lamps and alarm clocks Grin.

I'm online clothes shopping. If I do it through quidco it is practically free right?

Where does one buy jeans? I have some that sit too low so fall down and some that are high waisted which I like but the denim sags after about half an hour. I am tempted to move into the world of skinnies as I have seen a nice knitted tunic from joe browns.

Indith · 27/08/2012 13:35

cross posts

Your dcs sound fab.

We can do adult company. It isn't very sane but it is always good fun :)

Biomedical sciences. Wow. We have lots of uni type bods on this thread. How has it been studying with the dcs? I did that with my degree but just had the one. I start again in March but will have a 6 year old, 4 year old and 1 year old then!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 27/08/2012 13:48

My colleague's DH has been in Saudi for about 6 months. She found it tough at first but the money on offer was a lot. She's spending the next 18 months planning all the things she is going to do with the money when he gets back (not sure how much of a say he gets in that!)

I need new jeans- I managed to rip a huge hole in my nice ones when I caught them on a cupboard handle. Moral of the story- avoid washing up as it only leads to trouble Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/08/2012 16:53

Umbridge, welcome! I live in Thornaby. I have a DS who is starting school next week, plus a toddler, would be happy to meet up you for a cuppa. Leggy also spends some time at Queen's campus on Mondays! Currrently a SAHM but going to start looking for a job in September. DD is 14mo and still co-sleeping. And night feeding
Spiggy - DS doesn't start until the Wednesday. Got stuff to do on the Monday but will be free on Tuesday?
Indith - Yep, teething sucks!!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 27/08/2012 18:13

Yup could do next Tues (is that the 4th?) See what the weather if likely to do before we pick a venue?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/08/2012 20:06

Yes that is a good idea, Spiffy.
