Hello hello! Here I am with good intentions to behave and show up to some meet ups since I utterly failed in 2011! Grin

So we need ideas for daytime meets and of course we must not forget our night time meets Wink

Daytime Ideas
Beamish
Saltwell Park, Gateshead
The Giants Den, Team Valley
Botanic Gardens
Beach (in the summer of course, unless we want airborne children!)

Okay so ideas for January daytime, I think cake is definitely in order so I propose the one that's next to Ebony, the huge place, down some steps, uhh... Slug & Lettuce is it? CAKE!

January night time? Is this something we want to plan? I know we're always poor after Christmas!

StealthPolarBear · 08/08/2012 21:44

oh I do remember, are they sort of stripey, mainly blue but with pink and orange?

Indith · 09/08/2012 06:57

Yes those are the ones!

1pm fine by me. If I can remember where it is! Ds1 not the best navigator in the world Grin.

Indith · 09/08/2012 06:59

Just reallised I was using names in my post last night. The dangers of flicking between FB and here!

Indith · 09/08/2012 08:27

Actually, we might go in a bit earlier with a picnic.

Indith · 09/08/2012 18:08

Brilliant time at Gibside today. Den building was really fun, Gibside was busy but not stupidly crowded. We still on for Wednesday and pond dipping?

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 09/08/2012 18:59

Yes please!

Indith · 09/08/2012 19:29

great

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 09/08/2012 20:17

yup, am debating whether to bring T or not. If I leave him behind I'll be able to grab the other 2 when if they fall in. Plus he will not sleep if he's out and about, even in sling, even in buggy so will likely be a grumpybum. But I'll feel mean!

FrozenNorthPole · 09/08/2012 20:28

Just dropping in

34 weeks today ... midwife came 'round to talk about homebirth today. Of course the house looked like a bombsite. Made everything seem a bit, erm, real.

Is there anything I can do to get ready for this? If there is, please tell me

Indith · 09/08/2012 20:44

Well you could clean but then the baby will keep you waiting and the other 2 will make a mess again so no. No there is nothing you can do to get ready so please sit on your arse and eat cake.

Spiggy don't feel mean. if you want to leave him do and look at it as good big children time :)

FrozenNorthPole · 09/08/2012 20:50

Mmmm, cake ...

Do you think that the floorboards of your average viaduct house could take the weight of a birth pool? It's not a solid floor ...

Indith · 09/08/2012 20:56

well there's only one way to find out Grin.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 09/08/2012 21:22

put a box in the corner of your living room. throw things in there when you think to add them. Over the next few weeks you will accumulate all the stuff you will need for the birth and probably a few bits you don't it is all in one place so the mw/DH can rummage through to find what they need rather than you telling them where to find stuff. If you do need to go in you can just pick up the box.

Can I have a teeeny weeeny rant? We are supposed to be having a week off and going to my mothers. This has been planned for the entire summer hols and was arranged round DH's trip to London for a pre-season friendly. Today he says he got the date wrong. No biggy I say we will go the following week. Can't do that he say- it is the first home match of the season. And? I ask. I have to go to that. Why? Because it is the first match of the season and it is important. Why? Because it is the first match of the season. He is now sulking because I don't agree it is important and told him to cancel one of them. He goes to the football every 2nd weekend in the year. Plus the odd cup game. And occasional away games. Leaves at 12 and gets back at gone bed time. I haven't even mentioned the cricket trips. I am not missing out on a trip to my mothers because he cocked up the dates. Neither am I doing it on my own.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/08/2012 08:10

Squiffy - yep I would be very cross! Stick with your original plans, he'll have to miss out on his jolly. Tell him it is part of life as a grown up Grin

Indith, does that mean you don't want those 9-12 clothes of yours, shall I just pass them to Viking or whoever then? I haven't got many, just a couple of outfit but I think none of them are pink.

I feel the same as Indith, I don't want anything back, I have a few more things to pass on to you if you want them (please feel free to say no!).

Anyone up for another trip to the Botanics next week? Can do any day except Monday or Wednesday. The week after I am off to Bonnie Scotland Grin

StealthPolarBear · 10/08/2012 08:24

oh squiffy that sounds familiar and annoying Angry
Kara, whereabouts are you going?

Indith · 10/08/2012 08:36

Nobble him and stick him in the car while he's knocked out. Or tell him to man up and though shit. Family is more important than football and plans that have been made should not be broken because he stuffed up on the date.

Actually Frozen, following Spiggy's box comment I had 2 boxes. One a birth box with my pastic sheet, inco pads, old towls etc in and one post birth box with a few baby clothes, nappies, maternity pads, knickers and pjs in so dh could easily find stuff and could just grab the post birth if we had to transfer.

Not sure about botanics, the next wave or workmen are around next week. Very exciting though as Monday I have to wait in most of the day for...........MY DISHWASHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin GrinGrinGrin.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 10/08/2012 09:13

ooooh Indith congratulations on the new arrival Grin I love my dishwasher. I am banned from loading it up because I don't do it right Hmm. But that rule is great because I hate doing it!

Kara, I can do Tues for Botanics next week. I might be able to do Fri- without children but not too early because I'm also having a lie in that day Grin

Indith · 10/08/2012 09:23

I am so excited. More excited than I have been about anything else. Holidays cause stress. Sex involves losing out on sleep. A dishwasher however will make life easier in so many ways. Gone will be the piles of dishes waiting on the side for the half hour a day in summer that we actually have hot water. Gone will be the puddle on the floor by the sink that dh causes each and every time he washes up. Instead I shall simply pop things into the dishwasher, press a button once a day and out shall come sparkly dishes. Oh and once ds2 gets onto sippy cups they will actually last because dishwashers can clean them properly and the nice hot rinse means the spout dries where handwashing means that they just grow goo in the spout because it never gets dry.

Hello ladies, sorry to hijack thread, I live in ne but haven't got involved in threads like this yet though I would like to!

I also write a blog about days out in the ne which you might find useful

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 10/08/2012 09:50

Welcome to the thread, always nice to have a newbie Smile Hopefully we will be having fairly regular meet ups over the summer so just invite yourself along. Will go and peruse your blog for ideas for days out. The children are a lot more tolerable when they are out in the fresh air so am always looking for new ideas Grin

Oooh builder has arrived with the underfloor heating thingummy. I'm getting excited about the new bathroom. The turquoise bathroom suite is no more. Hurrah!

stickyLFDTfingers · 10/08/2012 22:50

ooh indith can I share in your white goods excitement? On Monday I will be waiting in for my new washing machine! After numerous cobbled fixes and it not really working properly, I have decided Life is Too Short to have a crap washing machine that stops working all the time (and plays havoc with the downstairs electrics Hmm). Looking forward to pressing "go" and it doing its thing! :)

StealthPolarBear · 11/08/2012 07:04

Morning everyone
:o at the white good excitement, I know it well :)
Does anyone know of anywhere in the area, other than town, that would sell crafty stuff - I'm after A3 card etc? If not, does anyone fancy meeting me and DD in town about 10ish for coffee and scone?
(I'm not actually expecting anyone to make a special trip. but if you're in town anyway and fancy it let me know)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/08/2012 22:58

SPB - can you get up to Washington? Dainty Supplies, think it is on the Crowther Industrial estate? is good for crafty stuff. Or there is a HobbyCraft in Team Valley Retail Park and Teesside Park (near me).

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/08/2012 23:00

Oops not finished!

Spiggy, Tuesday is good for me, Lou you are welcome to join us, the more the merrier! Will probably bring a picnic.

Indith - yey for new dishwasher! Am still loving the new tumble dryer.

How sad that we are getting so excited over white goods. HmmGrin
