Hello hello! Here I am with good intentions to behave and show up to some meet ups since I utterly failed in 2011! Grin

So we need ideas for daytime meets and of course we must not forget our night time meets Wink

Daytime Ideas
Beamish
Saltwell Park, Gateshead
The Giants Den, Team Valley
Botanic Gardens
Beach (in the summer of course, unless we want airborne children!)

Okay so ideas for January daytime, I think cake is definitely in order so I propose the one that's next to Ebony, the huge place, down some steps, uhh... Slug & Lettuce is it? CAKE!

January night time? Is this something we want to plan? I know we're always poor after Christmas!

I have work to do today, so won't be coming this time Sad

I will think of you having fun in the sun whilst I gag baby to keep her quiet whilst I pretend to my clients I am home alone... Grin

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 14/08/2012 19:03

Viking-hope you managed to persuade V to be quiet.

Beans- lovely to meet you, sorry I didn't get to talk to you properly in between playing chase the baby.

Indith- Hope you managed to get a bit of rest and are feeling better.

StealthPolarBear · 14/08/2012 19:05

Yrs, was lovely to meet beans and nice to see spiffy and Kara.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 14/08/2012 21:46

Yep lovely to have a new face to add to our little gang, and Beans DS was a little cutie :)

Indith · 16/08/2012 11:31

Oooof Spiggy your pump is rather effective! 5oz milk in just 3 or 4 mins Shock! 4oz of that from one breast, the other has never been any good for expressing off!

Well having slept on the way to Gibside, and home from Gibside, then flopped on the sofa half asleep until dinner dd went to bed at the usual time and actually slept through! I like Gibside Grin. Ds2 fed all blinking night having been far too busy experimenting with forward motion and grass eating to eat all day Hmm.

Lovely to meet you and your ds Beans :) Hope to see you again soon.

Thanks for the sleepsuits Kara :)

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 11:38

:o I imahgine you'll be spending quite a lot of time there from now on

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/08/2012 12:43

Yay Gibside for inducing sleep in children! They should use that in their advertising campaigns Grin

That pump is good, have experimented with various different ones and that one was streets ahead of the others. Kept my 3 in milk when I returned to work and did its part in normalising expressing in the office as it was kept along with a packet of milk storage bags in the little meeting room I used to express in. Every little bit of subliminal advertising works Grin

Oh FFS I am LIVID with dd. The child has been out of nappies since before she was 2. She has had her moments, with ds having issues in that area she has often regressed in response to him having a bad patch, needing attention etc and I have always done my best to understand but ARGH she has been pooing in her pants loads recently. Normally the easiest and best response has been to leave her pantless at home then she would take herself off to the loo but today the little brat has shat on the livingroom floor and smeared it all over herself and ground it into the carpet. I could strangle the child.

I've cleaned it up, covered it in bicard to get rid of the smell and washed my hands several times but my fingers still smell of shit.

After the ikea trip this weekends I'll know how much money I have left for the floor. At least you can't grind shit into the pile if it is a wipe clean wood floor.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 16:49

:(

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 16:50

Sorry, not helpful I know but I have no advice. Is this the terrible 3s?

Indith · 16/08/2012 17:04

Must be. She is definitely being more terrible at 3 than she was at 2!

Actually trying to be fair to her I'm trying to remember how old ds1 was when he would poo in his nappy at night then fish it out and spread it all over his headboard. Sometimes we wouldn't find it until morning when it was all nicely dried on. It was in this house definitely and he was 2 and a half when we moved here so I suppose perfectly possible that he wasn't too far off the same age.

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 16/08/2012 18:10

Oh no Indith! :( I hope your carpet and fingers are now fragrant again?? It must be so frustating when you know she can do it!

It was lovely meeting you all and your lovely DC this week!

DH and I are having our first Night Out in Durham on Saturday - I am very excited! It would be great if you could recommend some nice restaurants - maybe Thai/Indian/Chinese?? We've not had a night just the two of us for a-g-e-s!

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 18:21

We usually have an MN meet up at the Capital Indian restaurant, and it's very nice.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 16/08/2012 19:25

Oh no Indith! Hope you get nice poo resistant flooring to replace the carpet with. I always think I can smell poo for ages after it has been cleaned but it is all in my imagination.

Beans have a lovely night out. Don't know Durham very well but the Capital has been nice whenever we've been for one of our meet ups. I can't actually remember our last night so am Envy. We do have 26th Oct in red in the calendar though as it is the new Bond and we are definitely having a night out for that. (He likes boring serious films I like ones where things get blown up so it isn't often we find one we both enjoy!)

Indith · 16/08/2012 19:26

Mmm yes The Capital is definitely the best Indian.

The Fat Buddah is supposed to be good, I've never been though.

I'm not sure about Chinese. Does anyone know if that place in Brandon is still there? That used to be good.

StealthPolarBear · 16/08/2012 21:42

The wok inn aka wok this way? Yes, still there, never been, glad to have it recommwned though.

Indith · 17/08/2012 08:10

Quiz night quiz night quiz night!

A mini escape 30 seconds from home with friends and just 1/3 of the children Grin.

Indith · 20/08/2012 11:50

I now have half an ikea warehouse in my house and can hardly move. Best get the painting finished today so we can get stuff moved in!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 21/08/2012 19:58

Right then , I have:

Changed all T's bedding.
Turned the mattress in the cot.
Propped the end up so it is on a slant.
Rubbed everything with lavender.
Put a bowl of lavender under the bed.
Covered him in moisturiser.
Massaged him, particularly between his toes.
Washed the stinky rabbits that he chews at bedtime.
Strapped the now not so stinky rabbits next to me all day so they smell of me.
Kept him off dairy food.
Kept off dairy food for me.
Not had the tv on all day, even for cbeebies when I was desperate. I deserve a medal
Had a nice relaxing half hour before bed.

What random things can I try tomorrow when if all of that doesn't work and he's still up all fecking night? Any random stuff will do, no matter how woo or just plain bloody stupid, I'll try anything (except leaving him to scream the house down- that just won't work cos it makes me feel ill.)

I can cope with the cry-feed-back to sleep that he normally does but at the moment it is cry-feed-pull off-lie down-cry-feed-whinge-lie down- cry etc etc etc that he is doing at the moment.

Indith · 21/08/2012 20:27

Oh Spiggy . My dear I have absolutely no idea.

Propping the cot etc good. Can I ask why the dairy? Remember whatever it is you are trying to do with the dairy it takes time for dietry changes to have an effect so you'd have to keep it up for 4-6 weeks.

See you tomorrow. We shall get there nice and early and buy take away cake before the cafe gets all busy Grin.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 21/08/2012 20:49

Dairy cos he has eczema which is all sore at the moment anyway cos it is hot and muggy. And people on the Analytical Armadillo are always going on how cutting dairy miraculously cured their non sleepers. I know I've got to keep it up, not sure how long I'll last though. I have no willpower Grin

I'll settle for just a couple of wakes and easy returns. The worst bit is that I swear the little git waits til I've just dropped off to sleep and starts up again. It was 4 hours of that last night til I got to sleep for the first time.

I've found another bottle of sloe gin so am having a nice relaxing vat glass as a treat.

Indith · 21/08/2012 21:02

Ah, excema is a bitch. [helpful].

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 21/08/2012 21:17

Bollocks. Just finished my dinner. Spaghetti Carbonara. The dairy avoiding lasted ooooh 8 hours.

Maybe I'll settle for just cutting down. Grin

Indith · 21/08/2012 21:27

You muppet!

StealthPolarBear · 21/08/2012 23:13

Oh spiggy that sounds a nightmare. Before long he'll be off to university, just bear that in mind!
