Hello hello! Here I am with good intentions to behave and show up to some meet ups since I utterly failed in 2011! Grin

So we need ideas for daytime meets and of course we must not forget our night time meets Wink

Daytime Ideas
Beamish
Saltwell Park, Gateshead
The Giants Den, Team Valley
Botanic Gardens
Beach (in the summer of course, unless we want airborne children!)

Okay so ideas for January daytime, I think cake is definitely in order so I propose the one that's next to Ebony, the huge place, down some steps, uhh... Slug & Lettuce is it? CAKE!

January night time? Is this something we want to plan? I know we're always poor after Christmas!

Good news on the scan, but eek! and when it needs to come out! Still at least they found it!

StealthPolarBear · 05/06/2012 11:13

glad your coil is still where it should be spiggy :) Kara, can't believe C is doing that already. the years are going so fast.
Hope everyone's having a fun long weekend. I am firmly on the fence on the royalist thing, quite like the long hols and party atmosphere, but no real interest as such :) In fact I took the kids to Edinburgh on Sunday, we stayed over and DH joined us for the day yesterday. Was fantastic :o And in Jenners, I overheard a conversation between the waiters - one of them mentioned it was the jubilee weekend, and the other said "the what?" :o

LeggyBlondeNE · 06/06/2012 09:21

Noooo! My comment just got randomly deleted!

To sum up, I hated all the London-centricness of the weekend and wished there was something happening in Edinburgh! And I'd rather have the Queen/Charles/William than an elected president mainly based on the capacity for the British public to totally fail when it comes to selecting big political figures (e.g. Blair, Cameron, Boris, all charisma over substance.)

Good news on scan Spiggy, and low-stress-life SPB!

Age gap will be just under 2.5 years. Am already planning for an autumn of toilet training and getting T to stay in bed ALL night!

ishchel · 07/06/2012 12:39

Waves at everyone^^^foxy here.
I hear there may be a meetup soon. May I come?
Congrats Leggy... hope it all goes smoothly over the next few months.
I couldn't get het up over the Jubilee either. I certainly wasn't going to buy tat. Shocking how much money has been wasted invested on the London events and so little elsewhere. Spend there, austerity elsewhere.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 07/06/2012 13:29

Woo foxy- you allowed back now? Or is it a stealthy visit? Grin

We've been talking about the jubilee in work and one of my colleagues made a good point. If a lone parent on benefits spent their money on parties, piss ups, sporting fixtures and general good times rather than paying off their debts then the Daily Fail would be up in arms. But it it is fine for the country to do it when there is supposedly no money for hospitals, breastfeeding support workers, sure start, education because it is the Olympics/jubilee/some other London based event. grumble grumble [miserable old git emoticon]

I hate to break it to you Leggy- There are 29months between H and T. She picked the week he was born to toilet train and was up all sodding night last night. If you get T sorted can I send you H to do as well?

Shall we get organised for a meet then? Likely to only be able to do Tues for daytime over the next few weeks but should be good for night time any time. Curry anyone?

stickyLFDTfingers · 07/06/2012 23:02

mmmmmm curry........

FrozenNorthPole · 11/06/2012 14:31

Curry! Yum!

Congrats Leggy, hoping the combination of pregnancy and T not too tiring - we're just contemplating toilet training here too but I think I'll leave it until after September as I found it easier to do nearer 3 years old than 2 years. C definitely not ready though - if T's showing signs worth going for it!

I've been MIA because of a few pregnancy complications (fluid around baby's heart), combined with being rather messed about by UHND. I'm considering transferring care to the RVI - has anyone swapped hospital / birth venue? Since I'm very high risk but still hoping / planning for a home birth if we get the all clear on the heart, I need top notch antenatal care coupled with a relaxed attitude to delivery. Not going to happen, is it? To qualify my statements, my risks include multiple miscarriage, IUGR and premature birth. So if I get past 37 weeks with a baby that appears to be growing normally, I can't see why I shouldn't have a 'low risk' birth. What do you think? My last birth was fewer than 90 minutes, I didn't actually notice I was in labour until the last 10 minutes of it (when the midwife told me to push .. I'd gone to the hospital thinking I had a UTI and they examined me) and it was basically very straightforward despite DD2 being 5 weeks early. Any thoughts re: that jumbled post .... ?

Kara, I need to facebook message you back - sorry for the delay Blush

Waves to everyone else - I will do everything I can to get to the next evening meet up before my freedom is curtailed again by a cluster-feeding newborn.

ishchel · 11/06/2012 15:11

just a stealthy visit. Grin
FNP: each pregnancy is unique and they can only determine high/low risk based on its own merits. hth.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/06/2012 16:31

I'm away from 20th June to the 4th July.

My only issue is I am struggling to get Cara to sleep before 7.30pm, and she normally wakes up between 10.30 - 11pm. I don't think I really want to bring her as I know I will end up with a wide awake baby on my lap!

If I can come along, I will.

LeggyBlondeNE · 12/06/2012 12:43

Frozen - you're not exactly far from UHND if they need to whip the baby into NICU, and even if you laboured at UHND it might be that they'd send baby up to Newcastle to the cardiac people there if there was a serious problem, so in that sense I don't think being at home presents big challenges for safe delivery.

Given C's birth I'd argue that if you do reach 37 weeks, then a homebirth is actually safer for you. I certainly wouldn't be booking into the RVI if there's a chance of delivering on the A1!

Also I technically had ob-lead care due to childhood UTIs and apart from some rolled obstetric eyes there was no problem with being at home. Although of course I didn't have any other risk factors.

LeggyBlondeNE · 12/06/2012 12:46

In other news, the crazy dreams have begun. Last night I met Obama. I bit into a custard cream just before my chance to talk to him and could only smile and shake hands. When I mentioned my stupidity a few minutes later to the person with me, he heard me, left his current group, and came back to talk to me properly. Dream!Obama is an awesome guy...!

Then there was some business with psychopaths and running away.

No vampires so far...

StealthPolarBear · 12/06/2012 13:02

So not only did you make a fool of yourself in front of arguably the world's most powerful man, but you also got an inferior biscuit!

LeggyBlondeNE · 12/06/2012 15:45

Right, I'm off to my conference in New Mexico! Cue 5 days of my friends wondering why I'm not taking full advantage of my baby-free status and hitting the wine bar hard...

Oh yes and jet lag plus morning sickness is going to be ... interesting...!

OTOH, yay conference! Back next week.

LeggyBlondeNE · 12/06/2012 15:46

Also, there's nothing wrong with custard creams. They may not be stem ginger cookies, but they're very homey.

StealthPolarBear · 12/06/2012 17:27

Afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Enjoy your trip!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/06/2012 16:08

Norty Leggy, you didn't reply to my FB message Grin
Can you let me know where to drop off those things for you and Liz, want to do it before I fly off next wedneday Smile

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 14/06/2012 22:04

Yay- positive breastfeeding interaction with medical professional today! Had my cyst removed but it turned out there was an abcess around it (apparently I should have been in agony but I couldn't feel anything Hmm) so got prescribed anti-bs. Said I was breastfeeding and got told by consultant how wonderful that was- how old is the baby? a year old? How utterly marvellous, you are doing such a fantastic job my dear it is lovely to hear things like that. Carry on, it is the best thing you can do etc etc

It made me Smile all day even though it bloody well hurts to sit down and I didn't even get a sick day

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2012 08:34

Glad its out, hope the pain is soon better

VikingLady · 15/06/2012 10:27

Glad it is dealt with now, and hope you get cosseted at home whilst you can still legitimately claim to be poorly Grin

Indith · 15/06/2012 14:22

Home! Hello everyone! Hope you are all OK, Spiggy hope you are getting plenty of TLC. Right then. We do need to get together. When is everyone free? We should hunt down Mrs Archie and force her to ask her if she wants to join us. I wonder when Beans will be back on, she moves to Durham next week doesn't she?

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2012 14:38

Welcome back, have you had a good time? I've been wondering when you were returning

Indith · 15/06/2012 14:46

It was good :) You going to the summer fair tomorrow?

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2012 15:08

wow thunder and lightning!!
No, sorry :( we are going to FIL as it;s fathers' day and if we weren't we should be going to watch the flame go through Esh and the school have games etc on - bt I don;t think we'll make it :(

Indith · 15/06/2012 15:21

crazy weather!

Shame we won't see you :(

Do you think Esh will be crazy busy? Can't decide between there or Tow Law.

StealthPolarBear · 15/06/2012 15:31

yes, but if you were driving you could park at Quebec and walk down, think that would be OK. Don't suppose the actual vilage will be too bad, just the road
