Seems like we haven't had a City meetup for ages, now that Kayleigh's gone and got herself a life. Anyone fancy meeting for lunch in (say) Starbucks on Appold Street? Some time midweek in late November, for example?

All suggestions re dates/places welcome!

I'd love to come - diary a nightmare but will try my best

dinosaur · 11/11/2005 11:45

Yes, me too - Wednesdays no good for me though.

frogs · 11/11/2005 12:39

Okay, so how about Tuesday 22nd or Thursday 24th November? Or the week after, if that's better for people.

I'm not the worlds most organised organiser, so lots of input please!

Marina · 11/11/2005 12:44

Thursday 24th November is doable for me, thanks for taking on Kayleigh's mantle frogs

binkie · 11/11/2005 12:49

Delighted to see this - Thurs 24th looks OK for me too at the moment.

dinosaur · 11/11/2005 14:57

Yes it's okay for me, too. I'll put it in my diary.

frogs · 14/11/2005 12:21

Bump -- anyone else care to join us?

OP posts:
Wills · 14/11/2005 12:27

Can't do 24th but if you choose another date will do my upmost to get there.

Wills · 14/11/2005 12:27

Oh and many thanks for picking up this role.

beachyhead · 15/11/2005 11:45

Can I come? and bring dd2 - she's only 13 weeks so lots of cuddles in order? See you then. (I'm finally on broadband so back in the land of the virtual).......

frogs · 15/11/2005 11:50

Yes, yes beachyhead, of course you can come! And your little one as well.

I'm not really organising as such, just started the idea off. Not in anyway trying to step into Kayleigh's shoes...

Anyone else? We need to give a loud SHOUT to the usual suspects -- Marina? NQC? Bundle? Sponge? Are you out there?

CountessDracula · 15/11/2005 11:58

Can do the thurs not the tues

frogs · 15/11/2005 12:05

Thursday 24th seems to be the consensus -- sorry you can't make it, Wills. Maybe next time? I'm going to be racing down from a meeting too. Will be good to see you again too, CD!

Is Starbucks in Appold Street still a good venue?

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 15/11/2005 12:18

Starbucks food is vile!

Wills · 15/11/2005 12:45

Never mind, but could I suggest a xmas one as well or is that too soon to organise.

HandbagAddiction · 15/11/2005 13:25

Count me in too! Will look forward to it!

binkie · 15/11/2005 13:30

If Starbucks food is yuck, might we consider going somewhere else? I have always wanted to try out the Spitalfields Market places - eg Arkansas Cafe - but have never been there, so this may be bad idea. Any views?

NotQuiteCockney · 15/11/2005 13:31

I can't really do afternoons these days, as DS2 sleeps from 12:30 or 1, so I will disappear for a few years from meets, I guess.

I could do an evening one, if that was an option. The City's a bit vile in the evenings, though.

Oh, and I will be visiting the City much more often come September, if DS1 gets into his new school.

vivat · 15/11/2005 15:52

I haven't been around for ages - what's happened to Kayleigh ?? Would love to catch up with you all next Thursday

frogs · 15/11/2005 17:54

Spitalfields market sound like a great alternative, binkie. It's lovely on Sundays, but a bit packed. Presumably on a weekday it would be less heaving. The food stalls are (or were -- it's ages since I've been) in one corner of the market with an open plan eating area in front. Can get a bit chilly, though. Please take a vote amongst yourselves...

NQC, what new school is your ds going to? Wanted to pick your brains re. the school in Vicky park as am looking for alternatives for dd2.

NotQuiteCockney · 15/11/2005 18:49

frogs, please CAT me re: schools if you want to?

beachyhead · 15/11/2005 20:36

Spitalfields is a good idea as then everyone can eat what they want...... Might be hard at 12.30 to bag a big table so I would suggest 12.15 and bring a woolley jumper. Suits me with my buggy though......

Kayleigh · 16/11/2005 14:23

Can I come ?

binkie · 16/11/2005 14:27

Hooray!!
(Not in Dubai yet then?)

Marina · 16/11/2005 14:29

(marina inhales sharply through teeth and mulls it over) Kayleigh! What a thing to ask! What do you think?
And how great to see Vivat and Beachyhead around too...am fine with Spitalfields, great idea. Not keen on Starbucks food or coffee tbh so that's much nicer.
