It is time to gather the troops :) All are welcome, newbies, lurkers, usual Durham thread rabble and anybody else out there.

Small babies welcome. We all know how much you can long for a meal out yet be unable to bring yourself to leave the baby so as long as you are happy to bring them, we are happy to have them.

Please suggest places to go for a nice drink or 2 (cocktails anyone?) and a meal. The date which most people can make will be booked.

How many was it originally booked for? I'm thinking about asking a woman I was working for, she was fairly new to area and it might help her to meet some new friends. I shall ask her tomorrow!

Indith · 25/11/2010 18:40

I need to add one already. I shall PM people I don't see around the boards over the next few days to confirm they are coming and then confirm the booking with the restaurant on the Thurs/Fri before. I can't wait!

OP posts:
juneybean · 25/11/2010 18:46

I can't wait, even if it has got me in bother with other "friends" I don't even care Grin

spiggy · 25/11/2010 19:41

juney other mumsnetters were grateful to have their first night out with DP in 4 1/2 years Grin If you aren't careful you'll end up with a permanent gig...We felt like naughty school children bunking off school Grin.

Indith M's first question when he saw the snow was "Is it Christmas now?" I blame the Snowman DVD that has been on pretty much constantly. Snow=Christmas in his mind.

juneybean · 25/11/2010 19:46

Haha Spiggy you know where I am! Wink

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/11/2010 12:25

My friend is not coming with her baby, she is still massively sleep deprived and her dd's feeding is still all over the place (but yey she is still bfing Smile), so she'd rather not go.
It does mean I will be coming to Ebony though!

whensitgunnahappen · 26/11/2010 12:34

Sorry couldnt read all the thread! to long! but are you going out in newcastle city centre?! x

Indith · 26/11/2010 12:36

We are going out in Durham whensitgunna. Well, I say going out, what generally happens is we have a drink, have a meal, at some point someone will mention dancing but we will natter around the table for ages then start yawning and we'll all be tucked up in bed before midnight Grin

Ok Kara, thanks for letting me know.

Apparently this weather is set to continue into next week!

So rethinking wardrobe.

I have this dress, was planning to wear with tights and red shoes but if the weather is going to be like this, thinking I might wear with black leggings and my ankle boots instead. It's just that it looks more like a dress as it comes to just above my knees.

Could I get away with thick opaque tights and ankle boots?

LeggyBlondeNE · 26/11/2010 16:03

Kara - what about flesh coloured tights and pickingb up some cheap black sheepskin boots?

Indith · 26/11/2010 16:56

I'd go with Leggy's suggestion Kara, I think you need boots with it.

OP posts:
KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/11/2010 17:52

I have got boots(just above the ankle) already and there is no way I can justify buying any more shoe, no matter how cheap!

I do have flesh toned tights so I may well stick with them and the ankle boots.

PDog · 26/11/2010 21:54

I am still coming. DD has been a bit of a mare this week but she is settling better for DH now so I should be fine to escape. Not sure I will make the drinks though as I will need to get her to bed first.

What is everyone else wearing? I was planning black dress with legging and heels (not very high as I'm tall) but not sure if weather is no better. Need boots really but only have my Uggs.

Must get hair cut too.

juneybean · 26/11/2010 22:49

I'm wearing jeans... I don't care if it's uncouth, I love my jeans...

But if I feel I ought to be smarter I will pull out the black troosers

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/11/2010 09:29

Jeans can be smart with a snazzy top. Come as you are Grin
I just don't get to dress up very often!

FrozenNorthPole · 27/11/2010 23:14

I'm still coming, although by the look of things I might be coming via sledge pulled by labarador. Dress plan, since I'll be walking there, is either jeans and wellies paired with a nice top under my cagoule Blush or, if things have thawed about, knee-length boots over thick tights worn with a cord skirt and nice top. The latter is Boden all the way but hey, I'm embracing being very slightly less mumsy than usual by virtue of DD2's absence from one of my breasts. No need to abandom mumsy altogether methinks. Grin

FrozenNorthPole · 27/11/2010 23:20

Argh, I can't spell labrador. It's what happens when you're still marking essays on Freud after 11pm when the rest of the family is merrily snoring.

(whispers: they're not terribly good essays either)
