It is time to gather the troops :) All are welcome, newbies, lurkers, usual Durham thread rabble and anybody else out there.

First up a vote on the date:

4th December

Kara
Indith
Juney
Frozen

11th December

Leggy
Indith
Juney
Frozen

Small babies welcome. We all know how much you can long for a meal out yet be unable to bring yourself to leave the baby so as long as you are happy to bring them, we are happy to have them.

Please suggest places to go for a nice drink or 2 (cocktails anyone?) and a meal. The date which most people can make will be booked.

Trying to work out when I started now!

Ok I started in 2003 I think (D was senior Man, his impossibly beautiful gf S was welfare if that helps match the year) Ds was born in 2007 while I was still there. Graduated in 2008.

StealthPoHoHoHo · 08/11/2010 20:22

Like my new name??

FrozenNorth · 08/11/2010 22:12

Indith - Ooooh, yes - I snogged D in freshers' week 2001 Blush but he definitely moved on to better things, and 2003/04 saw me living in Owengate, so we almost certainly overlapped then. Did you live in college?

Sparkle - because I have some fairly severe scarring from my own encounter with chickenpox and reacted particularly badly to the virus (hospitalised ... v v rare but makes me concerned for DDs nevertheless). They're due to start nursery in January so I'd like to set my mind at rest before then.

Stealth - yes! How does one do a name-change?

FrozenNorth · 08/11/2010 22:17

PS - am I right that there's a LLL meeting next Saturday? Hope so, have booked DH's babysitting services for toddler so will bring along little one.

Indith · 09/11/2010 08:23

Lovely SPH :)

Frozen you do it in MyMumsnet, you just change the name in your registration details and save it. You won't lose your current name, it remains yours so you can change back to it at any time.

I lived in Moatside, oh the joys! My room became a kitchen in the refurbs, I had a wobble moment helping a fresher move into my old room number, got there and it wasn't my old room! Grin at snogging D. He was so short! Not sure about short men. Did you know his little brother then went to Castle, poor boy spent his years there known as mini D or midge.

StealthPoHoHoHo · 09/11/2010 09:22

oh I had forgotten about that FN! It's going to clash with coffee and cakes :( Might have to talk to DH about it as I think he is painting the ceiling and will want me to take T out, but I really don't want to take him. Not sure what to do...

StealthPoHoHoHo · 09/11/2010 09:44

Sorry, hadn't noticed your reply about the chicken pox, that sounds nasty :( not surprised you're worried

Indith · 09/11/2010 10:17

No! you can't miss coffee and cakes! Wink

If you want to go to LLL send T round, can come to coffee and cake with us and then the boys can play. What time is the meeting?

OP posts:
KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/11/2010 12:45

When is coffee and cake?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/11/2010 12:47

My friend M is in labour btw!

She went in for an ECV as baby was breech, only the baby has now turned, so they have gone and induced her(she has sky high BP) :) Won't be long now!
She and her DH are very excited :)

Indith · 09/11/2010 13:46

:) hope it all goes well!

Coffee and cake at the village hall, it is a monthly thing. I love this village!

stickylittlefingers · 09/11/2010 13:46

hello (this thread has been busy!) - just popping in to say please add me to that list for 4 December. Looking forward to it a lot :)

Indith · 09/11/2010 13:48

Great :)

OP posts:
StealthPoHoHoHo · 09/11/2010 17:14

Oh yes, sorry this is exclusive coffee and cakem unless you all want to come here - you'd be welcome in the village hall I'm sure :o
Speaking of coffee and cake though, we do need to have some - what are people doing on Monday 29th?
How's your friend doing Kara? Any news yet?

FrozenNorthPole · 10/11/2010 10:35

Indith - yes, he really was (is) short although a lovely chap. We were both at a boatclub thing and veeeeeeeery drunk. Ah moatside, do you remember how the bottom floor used to flood in the winter? I decided to share a room and thus ended up in the Keep in first year which was lovely but had lots of stairs. Luckily my roommate turned into my best friend, I know other folks sharing a room didn't have such luck. What subject did you read? Did you meet your other half in the college? [nosey emoticon]

Stealth - Think I could do the 29th for a couple of hours' necessary break from the interminable chapter I'm writing, coffee and cake good for the brain and more importantly the soul.

Kara - belated thanks for the e-mail re: peer supporter training, I plan to quiz Stealth/Indith about Durham-based training when I see them next Grin. Hope your friend's labour is going smoothly.

I have attempted a festive name-change, although it's not very witty. Clearly I need some practice!

'threads I'm on'

I sent an email to Indith and Kara and SPB last night but I thought I'd mention it here too.

There is a lady from Durham Council looking to talk to breastfeeders as part of her healthy lifestyles remit and was asking about bf groups. She now has a few but I gave her the idea of attending one of our meetups to get feedback from some hard core Wink mamas.

Maybe she can attend one of our meetups or possibly push her to source some more structured support. That is, at least two of us have been trained with funding coming from local government, I think, but now nothing is being done with the investment. It is deffo some feedback they need to hear.

any takers?

Right, off my soapbox and back to the galley.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/11/2010 13:02

Foxy - will read my email, but yes I would be happy to talk to this lady. One of the things that has frustrated me is that SBC have the funding but it has taken months to get anything organised in terms what we can do.
I went to the MW drop in/Healthy Start Clinic last Friday which I will be doing from now on, except this Friday as I have a meeting, and that is the first time I have been able to actually do anything, not that I did but I had a general natter with some of the mums.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/11/2010 13:03

Sorry posted a bit soon there!

FNP (like the name!) no problems about the email, glad it helped :)

And my friend had a baby girl this morning GrinGrinGrin

Indith · 10/11/2010 13:31

Lovely news Kara

Yes Foxy I got it and will forward it to SPB and anyone else who wants it. Am going to have a proper look later when I can be uninterrupted by dcs.

Oh yes, Frozen I didn't reply to you Blush Moatside was such a dump, I can't believe some of those lower rooms were allowed, they turned them into the gym and stuff though. Wish I had had the chance to live in the castle inself Envy, 2 of my friends shared the top gatehouse room, it was lovely up there. Dh was in Chads, we both did Russian :). I did combined arts.

Not long to go now!!

spiggy · 12/11/2010 15:04

Ah finally I get back to MN. Actually I've been sent home sick from work so I can indulge without feeling I should be doing something else Grin

Am looking forward to curry- I'd put a picture of myself on the FB group but I am camera phobic so don't have any Blush but I'll be the one with a small bump arriving with juney. BTW does anyone else want a lift in/home? Don't mind driving out of the way- just need instuctions on how to get there!

Ooooh Indith thinking of having another? You are just trying to even things up between us aren't you?! My MW is the same one I had with H and she just put me straight down for homebirth- guess after last time she reckons I have no chance of getting to the hospital Grin

StealthPomBear · 13/11/2010 06:59

FN I'm afraid I won't be coming to the LLL meeting this month. Hope you enjoy it and I'll be able to come to the next one, when DH can have DS

Indith · 13/11/2010 07:58

SPB clicky clicky fabulous name by the way Grin, classic thread

spiggy Grin no juuuust yet. Homebirth sounds like a good plan. This one will just drop out while you are doing the dishes or something.
