Unfortunately that requires friends and quite often money.

People I was friends at uni with who are still living here it is nice when I see them but I am very much remmebred at the last min or if there is noone else around and nothing better to do.

Few friends with children, the ones I actually see outside of groups usually doing stuff with family at weekend.

So usually at weekends dh takes the dcs out to the farm shop or park or something on the Saturday while I do housework or if weather bad I ignore them as much as possible and do housework while trying to point out to dh that the reason I keep the bathroom for weekends when he is around is that dd will have her ehad down the loo "helping" so can he please keep her away. Then on Sunday morning he goes rowing, comes home whne dd is down for her nap after lunch and the afternoon is spent reading the paper while ds goes "daddy will you play with me" on repeat.

Actually dh does play with him loads, he loves playing with the dcs it is just that I can spend the whole weekend without leaving hte house and I need to but there has to be somewhere to go.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/12/2010 12:21

Indith IKWYM, there have been entire days where DS and I haven't even gotten dressed Blush

We are going to see M and her new baby on Monday though, yey!!!

Definitely won't be able to meet up next week as off to Sheffield on Wednesday to see my friend and her little boy, working Tues & Thurs and having a meeting with the peer supporters on Friday.

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2010 13:29

Hi everyone
We are the house of pox again too - DD is spotty now!

Woohoo!

Well, you know what I mean, you are getting it out of the way. She obviously caught it off T rather than whoever T caught it off.

I have 2 children asleep Shock. They are each taking up a sofa though!

spiggy · 10/12/2010 19:58

Indith I would be up for something (anything!) out of the house on occasional weekends- DP's a season ticket holder for the football which seems to required several hours either side of the match to participate fully in the experience Hmm He usually takes the kids off my hands for a few hours by taking them to his parents but my free time never quite seems to add up to the same amount as his IYKWIM. And I usually end up doing housework when I'm in the house on my own as I feel guilty. I figure I am owed lots of brownie points Grin

BTW how big did people look at 18weeks? I look HUGE. I keep getting asked if it is twins. I don't remember being this big previously. Is it just official that my stomach muscles have given up completely? Grin

Indith · 11/12/2010 12:51

I was pretty mahoosive with dd I seem to remember, but then she was prett mahoosive too Xmas Grin. Maybe your tummy has just given up all hope Xmas Wink

Yes men and free time. Dh just said he hoped to be able to 2 rowing outings every weekend after Chrisitmas (he also does 2 evening sessions). I may have had a bit of a rant about how only spending 2 afternoons a week at home is not fair on me or the dcs. Plus I pointed out that while he pays £20 a month subs to the rowing club I can't afford to do a class for exercise (and yoga at the village hall would be £20 a month). He said that that is his socialising which is mostly true, he does that plus the occasional meal out but erm....my socialising is the occasional meal out with you lot. He seems to count the money I spend inthe week on toddler groups and bus fares to town as my socialising Xmas Hmm

Argh. Rant.

juneybean · 11/12/2010 12:55

That's not very fair :( We'll just have to arrange more nights out!

But like Spiggy I'm always around on a weekend for coffee/cake!

Indith · 11/12/2010 13:10

We should start doing more at weekends :) Easy to get bogged down into thinking that everyone else is doing family stuff at weekends.

StealthPolarBear · 11/12/2010 14:16

yes I'd vote for more weekend stuff too :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 11/12/2010 15:40

I'd be fine with that, especially as I have the option of leaving DS with his dad Grin

Chocaholica · 11/12/2010 17:20

Me too.

Been to John Lewis today and remembered our vaguely planned meet up there. In the New Year we must!

FrozenNorthPole · 11/12/2010 21:26

Weekends sound like a really good idea ... My work weeks are getting stupidly busy and I'm pining for social activity, particularly since the cancellation of the night out (sob)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/12/2010 09:33

I propose we meet up for lunch next Saturday - 18th, I know I am definitely free then.

We could go to Cafe Continental and have nice lunch and cakey goodness Grin

Indith · 12/12/2010 09:40

That sounds really good Kara. I'll leave the dcs with dh and do the last bits of stocking filler shopping. we need to get our tree at some point that weekend too, we were going to do it this weekend but the dcs are not in a fit state to be in public!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/12/2010 10:57

I had Cpox as a child and DS had it when he was a year old, so we are okay.

I was supposed to be visiting M on monday but she needs to go back to the hopsital for a couple of appointments.

Will have to go shopping this week, tried to book a online shop with Tesco and they are fully booked until 27th!!

juneybean · 12/12/2010 11:53

I should be able to make that, I take it parking is gonna be an absolute nightmare though haha!

Curiousmama · 12/12/2010 13:49

That sounds lovely so glad you're all getting to meet up. You deserve it Indith Xmas Smile

I had a great night in Darlington last night with dp and we stayed over in the hotel where we had our first date Xmas Smile Obviously we didn't stay over on the first date Xmas Grin
I went to visit my old next door neighbours this morning whilst Dp did the morrison's shop (he likes shopping??) The lady nieghbour's been missing me bless her although the new neighbours are ok. Was so nice to see them though. I have lovely neighbours here though so can't grumble.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 13/12/2010 09:57

Juney - i'll be using the Belmont PnR as usual!!

Curious - are not not able to meet up next weekend?

Indith · 13/12/2010 09:59

Shall we say 12 at Cafe Continental then?

Say on here if you want to come and if you are bringing dcs. If numbers start looking high then I'll warn them in advance!

Curiousmama · 13/12/2010 10:32

Kara thanks for asking would've been nice but dp isn't at work, dss are at their dad's so no doubt we'll be doing something together? Hope you all have a lovely day though Xmas Smile

KaraStarbuckThrace · 14/12/2010 10:05

I will be sans enfant Grin

juneybean · 14/12/2010 10:10

juneybean · 14/12/2010 19:52
