Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Actually I do find my evening meal the easiest but we had no food in so had to really think about what to have that won't ruin my hard work.
Getting a bit bored of eggs for breakfast though.
What do you all have for breakfast?

KP86 · 08/04/2016 21:52

BackingVocals, no Asda near me but I get deliveries every 10-14 days for particular items that are cheaper compared to Ocado, which is my preferred shop. The cauli rice can go in the freezer, and then I steam it.

The only thing I've noticed is sometimes it seems a bit vinegar-y. Not sure if Waitrose's is ever like that.

KP86 · 08/04/2016 21:53

Why don't you try an avocado smash for breakfast?

Half an avocado diced or mashed mixed with feta, served with fried bacon.

seasidesally · 08/04/2016 22:09

What do you all have for breakfast?

i did have breakfast for the first weeks but im not a breakfast person and dropped it and i dont miss it,i do have double cream in coffee, dont know if that makes a differrence and im losing weight and in ketosis so for me it works fine

ihatethecold · 08/04/2016 22:40

I'm not keen on avocados on there own.
Much prefer them with eggs or prawns or chicken.
I don't think I can face eggs tomorrow.
I might have a pot of cottage cheese instead.

KP86 · 08/04/2016 22:43

Chunks of cheese
Full fat Greek yoghurt with or without berries
Leftover dinner
Fat bomb coffee (the one with cream, coconut oil and butter - sounds so bad!)
Bowl of stirfried vegies
LC pancakes with butter or cream

Backingvocals · 09/04/2016 09:17

I have Greek yogurt with full fat cream cheese stirred in, drizzled with oil and salt and pepper. I'm a bit addicted. It's sort of like labneh or tsatsiki and it's really nice with a black coffee.

Hi All
After many failed diets I am trying low carb high fat. Worried about all the fat I'm eating.
Do I really need to count calories? I feel I'd be having too many. .I thought the point of low carb was that you didn't have to count calories ? I want to do this woe properly!
I've been having wine as I see it's low carb but I'm really trying to cut it down ALOT.
Are you limited to cheeses cream in coffee etc ? Should I be measuring food? Sorry for all questions lol . If someone can help me I'd appreciate it Smile

KP86 · 09/04/2016 11:07

In theory you don't have to count calories, but I do because it makes me feel better about my diet.

The idea behind LCHF is that the high fat makes you feel fuller for longer and so you won't overeat. But the first few weeks can take some adjustment while you get used to listening to your hunger signals.

In my opinion (after some reading) it's important to not let yourself get too hungry as that can lead to the bad kind of ketosis and muscle breakdown for energy.

I'm wearing jeans today that I couldn't even pull up about a fortnight ago. And my top feels a little looser.

This is seriously cool.

Keep at it, everyone!

ihatethecold · 09/04/2016 15:26

well done KP.

Its makes it all worth while to have those moments of Yipee.

seasidesally · 10/04/2016 15:20

well i went out last night had 8 single vodkas and slimline, took some extra salt and some water

took a wee on y ketostix this morning and im still in ketosis, hangover was not bad at all as expected (heard some scary stories) so pretty pleased,im expecting a weight stall as ive been told my body will burn alcohol first,so a not going to weigh myself for a week

basically pretty pleased

well done on the fitting in the jeans, its a great feeling isnt it,i wore a dress last night that i had bought 8 months ago and was not a right fit at the time,so first time last night and i felt so much more confident

well done everybody

KP86 · 10/04/2016 16:01

Sally, good that you didn't have a bad reaction.

I had probably 3/4 bottle of wine last night (including a large glass not long before bed) and I woke up in the middle of the night feeling really drunk then this morning I was definitely not 100%. I didn't really enjoy it at the time and it's left me wondering if I'll ever be a big drinker again! (I'll never say never though, lol!)

seasidesally · 10/04/2016 16:16

i agree,2 years ago i drank heavy once a week but have cut down alot.i know i eat much cleaner now and by drinking i feel like im spoiling it

ive gone from doubles to singles so thats good and this was my first drink in 8 weeks,i suppose we have had a lifestyle change and it makes us more aware of the effects of alcohol, not a bad thing

KP86 · 10/04/2016 16:19

It was also my first drink in exactly eight weeks, less a mouthful of wine at a restaurant a few weeks ago.

I have half a bottle left in the fridge and once that's gone (one glass at a time) I won't be in a hurry to have more.

I agree, too, that it makes me aware that I'm not treating myself well to have lots of sugar/carbs/junk food. It's not the same level of satisfaction that you'd hope!

seasidesally · 10/04/2016 16:36

well we both feel the same so we must be right, lol

its encouraging that we think similar,i suppose its not just losing weight it seems its so much more

ihatethecold · 10/04/2016 17:02

I've had 2 small glasses of red wine today Blush

But..... I did go out to lunch and resisted the toast that came with my pate, I also gave my potatoes and Yorkshire pudding to my Dh.
So I only had meat and green veg.
The wine really went to my head though. I came home and slept for half an hour.

seasidesally · 10/04/2016 17:14

well done

it must be hard when eating out,ive pretty much avoided it so far

seasidesally · 10/04/2016 17:16

thank god i dont ever drink wine,2 glasses and i feel drunk and have a bad headache, havent touched it for years

KP86 · 10/04/2016 17:25

Eating out is very hard! As is eating at anyone else's house. I even struggle when DH cooks for me because he can be quite liberal with high cal bits and pieces and I would feel a lot more comfortable if I knew quantities of ingredients.

ihatethecold · 10/04/2016 17:31

I've never in my life given away roast potatoes or Yorkshire puddings.
Somethings must be going right in my head to not sabotage all my recent hard work.

Feels good to know I can resist.

KP86 · 10/04/2016 17:44

I think you've done amazingly. I LOVE Yorkshire puddings. Seriously, could bake one without all the rest and just eat it plain. Mmmm...

ihatethecold · 10/04/2016 18:17

The wine has made me feel sick.
Envy. That's not envy by the way.

KP86 · 10/04/2016 18:38

Eek! I know the feeling.

seasidesally · 10/04/2016 18:40

ha ha,i think last night is catching up with me,i feel yuck and come to bed early
