Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Another small glass of wine tonight and I feel really unwell! I might just chuck the rest of the bottle. It's not worth it!

ihatethecold · 11/04/2016 07:01

Are you a glutton for punishment KP? Grin

ihatethecold · 11/04/2016 07:02

I'm taking my Dd and my neices to Zizzi for lunch today.
Anyone know the best thing to have on their menu that's low carb?

KP86 · 11/04/2016 07:59

Apparently I am. But it did make me realise that it wasn't having too much that made me unwell on Sat night, but rather having ANY! Feels a bit unfair but that's life, I guess.

As for Zizzi, I have no idea, I'm sorry. Look for meat and seasonal vegies (no potato) or salad. Maybe an all day English fry up?

seasidesally · 11/04/2016 10:46

KP86 · 12/04/2016 21:16

Keep at it Sally. You will have a big dive soon. I had two weeks (!!) where I didn't lose but then 2kg in about 5 days.

seasidesally · 12/04/2016 21:59

it was drinking that done it,im not drinking on ketosis im only just feeling normal now

been very good today

how are you doing today ?

KP86 · 12/04/2016 22:23

I've not been following at all while on the holiday. Even had two glasses of wine today but didn't feel unwell after.

I am trying not to be too naughty while still indulging (eating dessert etc) so hopefully damage won't be too bad. I figure anything under 2kg gain will be ok.

Went swimming for 1.5hr this afternoon, as well as a bit of wandering about going to all the different activities.

seasidesally · 12/04/2016 22:42

thats great swimming

enjoy your holiday the scales can wait Grin

ihatethecold · 15/04/2016 15:59

I'm really seeing the benefits but im soooooo bored of it.

Plus, ive got 2 afternoon teas coming up.
what can i do???
lick the middle of the sandwiches Grin

Backingvocals · 15/04/2016 16:10

I'm doing ok but not sure how the weight is going. I am following the whole thing but still looked pretty hefty at the gym this morning!

Just to update on food, yday was:

B: Greek yogurt and cream cheese
L: watercress, avocado, chicken, loads of mayo (loads!)
D: salmon with hollandaise sauce. Was supposed to be with green beans but they'd gone a bit manky in the fridge so had it on its own.

Today:

B: Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon
D: a moussaka I made last time I did this, from the freezer. I make it with shallots, hardly any tomatoes in the meat. Then I replace the white sauce with just mozzarella and cream cheese.

Lots of water. This ought to be all in line with the diet but...any comments?

ihatethecold · 15/04/2016 17:25

Looks good.
I've had
B. 3 egg omelette
10 almonds
L. Salmon with roasted cauliflower, 3 strawberries with d. Cream.
D. 2 sausages with mayo.
Lots of water.
Need something else to eat. I'm still hungry. And tired.

seasidesally · 15/04/2016 18:07

what meals can i make with diced beef??

KP86 · 16/04/2016 18:13

I'm back, will come on later and re-read everyone's posts.

Gained between 2 and 3kg in my week off, eek!

Back on it, big time. Today has been a bit of a struggle, but I'm menu planning for the next few days so I can be more prepared.

ihatethecold · 16/04/2016 19:40

Hi KP.

I cheated today.
I had a halumi and hummus burger at bills.
Plus I've just had a slice of toast.
I didn't enjoy the toast at all.
Which is so unlike me.
I needed to eat something different. I'm so bored of this woe.

BIWI · 16/04/2016 19:48

Have you checked out the Bootcamp recipe thread, ihatethecold? Loads of lovely recipes on there that should inspire you. There's really no reason why low carbing should be boring!

KP86 · 16/04/2016 20:03

ihatethecold, I actually think the occasional cheat day is beneficial. When I had mine (ignoring this past week) it was always followed by a big loss. Your body knows what it's doing, IMO! Just remember you can get back on the bandwagon tomorrow.

Maybe check the LC boot camp board and the pinned thread with recipes for more ideas? I'm like you, starting to get a bit bored, particularly with breakfast. I'm thinking about making some ham, spinach and egg 'muffins' to have in the fridge for this week for breakfast/lunch.

Sally, sorry I didn't see your post last night. For future reference, heaps to do with diced beef: slow cooked chilli con carne using home made seasoning; kebab sticks with mushrooms and feta or haloumi; beef stroganoff served with cauli rice or even just steamed LC vegies; satay beef with all natural or home made peanut butter, chilli paste and coconut cream.

Food for today:
B: black coffee
Grazing throughout the day at work: one poached egg, a spoon of hollandaise, packet pork scratchings, slice of cheese, about 30g smoked salmon
A/T: pork scratchings, a couple of spoons of cheesecake dessert that didn't fit into the container (my excuse, anyway), SF ginger beer
D: beef rissoles, wilted spinach, slice of cheese, fried egg and mushrooms
S: will have about 1/2 cup serve of cheesecake mix soon

Activity: worked for five hours, but it was quiet so I only put in 2hr on MFP.

Net carbs = 7.

Still not enough water (!!), not sure how to resolve that.

Had a really bad day for hunger, but reminding myself that's not surprising considering I've been eating nothing but bread and sugar for a week and grazing all day, every day. Have to get back out of the habit.

ihatethecold · 16/04/2016 21:10

I did start to read the boot camp recipe thread, I've also bought the pig to twig recipe book.
I do need to get some inspiration because I have physically felt much better apart from not sleeping great.

KP86 · 16/04/2016 21:15

I've also started doing different versions of regular meals. eg. the Greek style chicken breasts or using tarragon or Asian spices on pork belly to make it taste different even though it's the same meat.

I am going to check out the Pig to Twig book.

ihatethecold · 16/04/2016 22:33

I bought my book of eBay for about £3

BIWI · 17/04/2016 10:18

There are some lovely recipes in the IPD book - and also Rose Elliotts Vegetarian Low Carb Cook Book.

KP86 · 17/04/2016 19:28

I bought the book from eBay for less than £3. Thanks for the hint! Says it will be here in about a week so looking forward to reading.

Busy, busy day at work but I had a really good breakfast before I left so no issues with hunger. However, once I arrived home at about 4:30 I was ravenous and really wanted to eat everything! Most likely habit rather than true hunger.

B: omelette with 2 eggs, double cream, cheese, bacon, mushrooms and spinach. I sprinkled a tsp carb-neutral fibre/bran on top as well.
Snack: 100ml cheesecake and glass of SF cloudy lemonade
D: Roast chicken leg, broccoli, small amount carrot, cauli and a couple of mushrooms. I may have also eaten the fat that came out of the chicken pieces! After dinner I was still hungry and had a pack of pork scratchings. Feeling satisfied now.
Snack: will have some SF jelly and double cream or some more cheesecake.

Some meal ideas for this week:
Sausage or meatball stroganoff
Salmon and vegies
Stuffed chicken breast with spinach and Brie and vegies or salad
Mexican mince and accompaniments
Greek-style chicken breasts

What's everyone else having?

ihatethecold · 17/04/2016 20:37

I've had
B. 3 egg omelette with cheese and ham
S. Babybel and 10 almonds.
L. Tin of tuna with lemon and mayo.
Few berries with Philadelphia and d. Cream.
D. Pork meatballs with courgette and feta cheese.
Few spoons of Greek yogurt.

KP86 · 17/04/2016 20:43

Sounds nice :)

Your Philly and double cream combo is the same as my cheesecake mix. It's delish.

Your dinner sounds good as well.

I'm looking forward to BIWI's next boot camp, as although I wasn't intending on continuing LCHF for more than three months, I may keep it up until the summer, which is when the next BC is due to finish.

Feeling a little unmotivated at the moment, very frustrated and annoyed with myself for being so bad this past week and regaining. It's really rough seeing the scales over 100 (only a little, but still!) again. I knew I was being piggy and that I would pay, but of course we don't think far enough ahead when having two pieces of cake for dessert on top of the big plate of dinner each night. Oops.

Back to the gym tomorrow for the first time in a month, my knee is finally bearable again and no illness/blocked up issues anymore either.
