Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

i get through somtimes 3 4 hundred cals a day and thats just in coffee, its taking to much of my calorie allowance for my liking

ihatethecold · 01/04/2016 19:30

No I'm not tracking carbs.
I'm using the book pig to twig as a guide.
I will have 2 maybe 3 cups of tea with double cream in a day.
I can't be arsed to track carbs.

My chilli didn't have any onions or beans in.
Obviously no rice but I made a small amount of guacamole and had shredded cheddar cheese on it.
It was lovely

KP86 · 01/04/2016 19:31

If you look towards the top of the thread I wrote a post with lots of meal ideas that we use.

For chilli, there's a yummy low carb Mexican seasoning online from a lady named Linda (if you google Linda's taco seasoning you'll find it) - makes pretty awesome sauce which you can serve with cauliflower rice, or salad, cheese and sour cream as tacos.

First day back into it, and I've got another minor bug, but not as bad as last week. I was feeling pretty hungry today, but then not really wanting to eat. Oh, the joys.

B: Nespresso coffee
L: 2 eggs, spinach, mushrooms
S: packet pork scratchings, SF jelly, SF cloudy lemonade
D: Creamy fish and vegie pasta sauce, served with the fake spaghetti noodles that are made with some sort of Japanese fungi. They were Eat Water brand.

Don't think I'll have dessert or any more snacks, I plan on going to bed pretty soon.

Net carbs for the day - 13g

Activity: about an hour of walking this morning into town and back

seasidesally · 01/04/2016 20:09

just had some strawberries, they taste so sweet

5 net carbs so far today, been running about, abit of gardening

KP86 · 02/04/2016 03:54

Isn't it great how quickly you get used to natural sweetness again!

KP86 · 02/04/2016 20:19

Dragged myself out of bed, took my drugs and went to work today. Bloody cold.

Today's food:
B/L: 2 poached eggs, smoked salmon and spinach
D: home made lamb rissoles topped with mushrooms fried in butter and a slice of Edam cheese, served with steamed broc and cauli and about a tablespoon of Hellman's mayo.
S: can Diet Coke, SF cloudy lemonade

Activity: working on my feet for 8 hours

Net carbs for the day was 6g.

KP86 · 03/04/2016 17:58

More work today but it was pretty quiet.

B: black coffee
L: skipped (not hungry)
D: curried sausages. They smell amazing in the oven right now :)
S: might have some SF jelly and cream, or some pork scratchings layer.

Net carbs for the day is 7, without snacks. That might add a couple.

Where is everyone else??

ihatethecold · 03/04/2016 18:20

KP. Are you eating enough?
Surely your calorie intake is so low your body will think your starving yourself.

KP86 · 03/04/2016 19:38

Hi, ihatethecold. Delayed reply, for some reason I was cut off from replying to threads for a while but seems to be sorted now.

This weekend I definitely haven't had enough to eat, but I've been unwell and not really wanting to eat. On a normal day I eat 1200-1400cal after exercise, and I always get close to target unless I have had a really big day, exercise wise (eg. a big day out with DS walking around for hours and hours which I include in MFP but it sometimes is almost 1000cal of exercise which I am unlikely to make up for in food for that day).

It is a good question and reminder for me, because in the past I have been guilty of not eating enough in order to lose weight and I'm quite sure that my body and metabolism have been permanently affected by this.

ihatethecold · 03/04/2016 19:48

Hope you get better soon KP.

Today I've had
B. 3 egg omelette
L. 2 pork sausages and mustard Mayo.
D. Homemade lemon and garlic marinaded chicken skewers with salad.
Lots of water and 2 cups of tea.

Bit peckish now though.

KP86 · 03/04/2016 20:29

Thanks. It's nothing serious, just this silly cold that everyone seems to have at the moment.

How did you make your chicken skewers?

ihatethecold · 03/04/2016 22:08

I marinaded cubed chicken breasts in a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, paprika and chilli purée. ( like Tom purée I think)
Put on skewers and grilled.
They were vair nice. Grin

KP86 · 03/04/2016 22:50

I'm going to give that a go. Sounds great.

ihatethecold · 04/04/2016 07:29

Well I weighed myself this morning.
I started 2 weeks ago but have been strictly following using the Pig to Twig book for the last week.

I was 10 st 9lbs now I'm 10st 1lbs.
I feel good, haven't been hungry and my bread cupboard is still full
I can see now how much I used to eat bread etc.
My dull headache has gone and my energy levels are staying consistent throughout the day.
I used to love a midday nap and would fall into bed shattered by 9 pm.

How is everyone else feeling?

KP86 · 04/04/2016 08:11

That's fantastic, Ihatethecold! Well done. So pleased you've found it easy, too.

You must be 'vertically challenged' because that's not very heavy ;)

ihatethecold · 04/04/2016 08:45

5'2" Grin

KP86 · 04/04/2016 13:53

I'm 170cm (approx 5.8, I think) and my goal weight is 78kg, which is 13st.

Currently 98kg. 10kg down, 20 to go :)

ihatethecold · 04/04/2016 14:15

Wow. 10kg is loads. Well done.

KP86 · 04/04/2016 19:22

Thank you :) Like you, I've found it pretty easy. First 7kg fell off within 3 weeks I think and while it's been slower since, it's still happening.

You'll be pleased to read that I have eaten my calorie fill for the day. Hehe!

B: scrambled eggs with cream and mushrooms; black coffee
D: three course feast since it's our wedding anniversary today. Started with prawn cocktails, then Greek chicken breasts (thanks for the inspiration!) and asparagus, finished with crust free cheesecake. I may have eaten about 1/3 of the cheesecake mix as I made it, so delish!
S: SF ginger beer, Pepsi Max

Activity: walked for about 1:30 today with DS while running errands

Net carbs: 13g

seasidesally · 04/04/2016 21:05

ihatethecold · 04/04/2016 21:12

Go and drink a load of water Sally.
Think of your progress so far. You don't need sugar. Go do something nice.

ihatethecold · 04/04/2016 21:13

KP
What's crust less cheese cake?

seasidesally · 04/04/2016 21:20

good idea the water, just got some

KP86 · 04/04/2016 21:27

The crustless cheesecake is one that I found online and did my own (only slightly different) version of.

Ingredients:
150ml double cream
200g tub full fat cream (soft) cheese
Juice of half a lemon, approx 20ml
3 tsp of Natvia or sweetener equivalent - doing it again I would cut this back to 2, as it was a little too sweet. The original recipe calls for 1/2 cup of sweetener, or equivalent; that would have been crazy sweet.

Method:
Beat cream to medium peaks, so it can be mixed without collapsing. Remove from bowl and beat remaining ingredients together until softened and smooth. Fold in whipped cream, put into serving bowls and chill until time to eat.

I got three good sized serves from it, at about 400cal and 3g net carbs per serve.

So simple, it took about 5 mins to prepare.

Next time (and yes, there definitely will be a next time) I might not bother to whip the cream separately and fold in. Originally I only did 90ml of cream but that wasn't much and so added another 60ml to the cream cheese when beating that, and it was already quite a nice, smooth and airy mix before I folded through the whipped cream.

The recipe that I used is here:

Seaside Sally, not sure if you remember a couple of weeks ago I was saying that my weight had stagnated as well. It's quite normal for this to happen with LCHF diets. You'll find that in a while (it might be a week, it might be a few days) you'll suddenly drop 1-2kg very quickly, and then it might stagnate again for a while, and so on. It's called the "whoosh" on the boot camp threads. After being the same weight and not losing anything for about two weeks I have lost another 2-3kg in the last two weeks.

Water is important, and I know I don't have anywhere near enough. Need to get much better at this, especially heading into the warmer weather.
