Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

After sport snack was half protein roll with plenty of butter, some more lidl ham and a slice of Edam cheese. I also had a serve of LC brownie warmed up soft lots of butter on top. I wanted it!

Haven't weighed today so we will see what it's like on Sunday. The weekends are the worst for me because it's too easy to have a mouthful of stuff here and there at work, or DH is less than supportive and suggests takeaway for dinner. But I am determined not to cheat this weekend. I want to get out of the 90s and this is how to do it.

I am taking DS swimming soon, he has been up since 5am-ish and going stir crazy in the house but the toddler swim session doesn't start til 11 so we can't leave until at least 10, and that's going at a very slow pace to walk there and really take our time! (It's normally only 10-15 mins away walking briskly.)

YogaDrone, if you can't find almond flour, coconut flour does a similar job but it's very absorbent so I would always add more liquid (or less flour) than your recipe asks.

Morning all. I met a friend for dinner at an Italian, and cinema. Was good during dinner, I had tapas style bits: prawns in olive oil with garlic and chilli, meatballs with mozzarella, and rocket salad. I then undid my good work with a handful of Galaxy counters. I really enjoyed them though 😋.
So back on it today. Scrambled eggs in coconut oil for breakfast, 1l water and a black coffee so far. Chicken mayo salad for lunch. And courgetti with oil, garlic, chilli and bacon lardons for dinner.
Happy Friday everyone.

KP86 · 10/06/2016 12:55

Your dinner made my mouth water!! Yum.

seasidesally · 10/06/2016 16:42

really quiet today and slept a fare bit

just feel so tired so not much activity today, but a reasonable amount yesterday

KP86 · 10/06/2016 17:11

I had a 2 hour sleep today as well, while DS had his nap. I was so tired after swimming could hardly walk home.

Just think, if you're sleeping you're not eating ;)

B: creamy coffee
Snack, walking to and from swimming: 2 packs pork scratchings
L: none, sleeping!
AT: 3 or 4 slices Lidl ham, rest of the choc brownie with cream, SF ginger beer
D: DH is out so I think I'll have Covent Garden Thai chicken soup with slim noodles. Easy to prepare and no mess, lol!
Snack: if I'm still hungry tonight (likely!) I'll have some Greek yoghurt with vanilla and stevia.

YogaDrone · 11/06/2016 09:53

hmm...weighed myself this morning and I've lost anything Sad although I suppose it's better than a gain.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. I really didn't think I'd done too badly last week but perhaps I need to do full Atkins induction fortnight to kick start some weight loss.

DP and DS are out until mid-afternoon so I plan to take the dog out for her walk and then hit the supermarket.

On the plus side DP has been reading some articles and decided to try LC with me which will make meal planning easier. He did 5:2 Fast earlier this year and lost 7Kg in 3 months but found that his mood was awful, he had a permanent low level headache and he couldn't concentrate on his fast days.

I'm thinking flat mushrooms stuffed with Brussels pate and topped with toasted cheese with steak and salad tonight. Even DS won't turn his nose up at that!

(scrambled egg and a slice of ham for breakfast and chicken & bacon salad for lunch)

Finally after a week and a half stuck on the same weight the scales have budged. 0.8lbs down!

I've started using my fitness pal more as I've gone back to using the treadmill more. I have a funny feeling last week I was going quite low of cals as since finding the 8cal low carb noodles I've been bulking my meals out with that and only having 3 meals. I've been burning off approx 200 for 4 days so I've added in a extra meal to make allowances for that.

If I wasn't low carbing I wouldn't replace them but i don't want to go stupid.

This is now the 4th year doing this and in the past I've never stayed the same but my shape is definitely changing and I'm getting the inches off.

seasidesally · 11/06/2016 15:17

YogaDrone sorry about the scales, its a total wee of when that happens but look at it that you havent put on,i totally get being fed up with that though, are you due a period, that can mess the scales up

so get your hubby finding the 5;2 hard,i dont really eat in the day but i tried it 7months ago and was so so irritable and i thought it would suit me but it made me have terrible mood swing,so get what he says

keep going and it will budge, but i know it can be annoying, good luck

stripeyzebra321 great news bet your chuffed well done

its weird how you can change shape without weight loss but it does seem to happen when you lc

how did your last few lc diets go,did you lose and keep of ?

seasidesally · 11/06/2016 15:20

im having a night of tonight, chocolate feast with my son why watching the football, was suppose to be going out but its changed now so thought me and my youngest will pig out together

stripeyzebra321 · 11/06/2016 16:14

Nope can loose the weight no problem! Slowly mind you. But once I'm in the low carb zone in 100%. But after i go back to old habits.

Last year I got down from 12 stone to 10stone 2.5 in 10 weeks, we moved house so it went mental so I came off, will all the moving I did manage to maintain for a few months then crept gradually back to 11. Then boom over Xmas into Jan back up to just short of 12 stone again.

I know my issue now, reintroduce carbs gradually. Keep portions small (I used to be 14 stone and used to eat loads and still can, I'm having small portions now) eat less carbs and cut the rubbish out.

You know the thing that has really made me stop and think this time that I need to change for good and maintain. Over the last 6 years I have dieted then gained some and dieted again, I have lost in total of yo yoing 10 and 1/2 stone. At the moment I weigh just under that. I've lost my whole body amount.

It stops now! I'm unhappy and I need to change that.

KP86 · 12/06/2016 07:56

Grrrrr, no cheating this week and I'm not even in ketosis. I tested yesterday and today. Bloody body. And still hovering back around the dreaded 95.3. No idea what's going on.

BIWI · 12/06/2016 08:06

KP - if you're drinking the water that you should be, the ketostix won't show anyway.

If you're keeping your carbs low, then you will lose the weight. But sometimes, for no apparent reason, things do stop. KOKO and it will get going again.

Have you tried taking your measurements? Sometimes the scales aren't moving, but you still lose inches. No idea why!

KP86 · 12/06/2016 08:18

I haven't had enough water, I know that. It was my goal this week to have at least 2L every day but it hasn't happened.

seasidesally · 12/06/2016 12:22

this is what i was told about it

hope it helps

Muscle takes the place of fat -while 5 lbs of muscle weighs the same as 5 lbs of fat, it is denser/smaller. So the scale weight may not have changed but the looks of the body have changed

seasidesally · 12/06/2016 12:27

like this

Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?
seasidesally · 12/06/2016 12:29

seasidesally · 12/06/2016 17:46

havent eaten today but not done much either

tea=lots of roast beef, broccoli, few peas and im gonna have a yorkshire and very small amount of gravy

KP86 · 12/06/2016 17:48

Yorkshires, mmmmm!

seasidesally · 12/06/2016 17:53

i know havent had one in months

did you like the picture i posted, does it make sense to you ?

KP86 · 12/06/2016 18:03

Yes, it does. I may need to take my measurements and track that way for a while.

I feel like I have a lot of excess skin. I do hope that it will (slowly) shrink back a bit.

SheriffCallie · 12/06/2016 22:31

I stayed away yesterday as I didn't want to admit I'd slipped. Had a play date at our friends house and her husband brought in pizzas for lunch. They were from a nice place and expensive, I felt so bad. I ate the smallest slice, prob 1/10 of the pizza. Then had salad and a couple of meatballs for dinner.
Was better today despite visiting a friend for afternoon tea. Ignored all the cake/ cookies/ crisps and instead ate 2 small cubes of cheese, some celery and a few black coffees. Had eaten an avocado and some almonds before leaving so my lunch was basically all that, with egg fried cauliflower rice with sesame oil for tea.
KP and stripyZ, my weight loss has stalled for ages but I'm def slimmer and loads of clothes are fitting better. Even though I haven't dropped under 9st yet, I'm happy with my current look/feel which I think is why I'm being more relaxed re food. Still planning on KOKO though :).
Happy end of weekend everyone.

seasidesally · 12/06/2016 22:40

ah dont stay away when you have a slip,if we all done that there would be no postsSmile

actually i kind of like it,it makes me feel normal and just keep things real

funnily i dont really find it hard to stick to when with friends, its the dreaded night times sat in the lounge on my own

SheriffCallie · 12/06/2016 22:58

Thanks Sally, I knew no one would judge me, but I didn't want to be all "ooh, pizza pizza pizza" when everyone was being good. It felt mean 😀.
I find the week days easier as I just have something with salad for meals, rarely snack as work is so busy, and then have some dark choc with my cuppa in the evening.
It's meeting friends that I find more difficult as most don't know I'm trying to lose weight and I can't be arsed with the whole "oh but you don't need to, etc" that I'd have to listen to. Cafes are fine as I can just order a coffee but if you go to someone's house, you get food pressed on you. I clearly associate with 'feeders' 😁

seasidesally · 12/06/2016 23:10

yeah you have made some good points

oh i do miss pizza especially i nice stone baked one Smile

kp posted a few months ago about a slice of apple pie she had had,its still etched in my brain Grin

BIWI · 13/06/2016 07:17

You do know that you can make a pretty decent pizza base from cauliflower, don't you?

I think there's a recipe on the Bootcamp recipe thread.
