Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Week 7 weigh in and I stayed the same. Was 100% too.
It's given me the kick up the backside needed and I am starting the c2 5k again and am going to enter a event to keep my motivation up.

On the plus side I found a beautiful belly pork in tesco in the frozen BBQ section, I think it was Chinese style. I cooked them after they were defrosted and it was amazing and really reasonably priced too!

seasidesally · 08/06/2016 09:26

stripey well done for staying the same atleast you didnt add

the pork sounds good, may have to take a trip to Tesco

stripeyzebra321 · 08/06/2016 09:40

Turns out it was BBQ glaze not Chinese style. Was still tasty done in the oven.

Will attach the pic incase anyone wants to try it as its on offer at the moment.

I may get a few next time I go and stock pile my freezer.

KP86 · 08/06/2016 10:31

What's the carb content in those? The glazes are usually quite sugary. I hope it's low so I can try them. Looks yum.

stripeyzebra321 · 08/06/2016 11:17

I'm not sure as my recycling has just gone. It wasn't too bad I don't think I didn't have them all in one go. Would of been under 10g as I don't think I would of got them otherwise.

SheriffCallie · 08/06/2016 12:15

Omg sally, I'm drooling. I love seafood and with a creamy sauce and bread for dipping???? Perfection.
Stripey, a stall is better than a gain. I recently stalled for over 3 weeks running before starting to lose again.
Have you been measuring yourself Eg inch loss. Only because I'm not losing massively but all my trousers are looser (ie fit me again😳) even though the scales don't show a big change these days.
KP, I find that meal planning stops me snacking unnecessarily as I can think "no, I'm having x & y when I get home in 30mins and it'll take 20 mins to prepare so I can wait 50mins for my food. Whereas before I would think "I don't know what's for dinner, what if it's something that takes ages to cook, I'll be too hungry. Best grab something from the shop when I stop for fuel", etc.

stripeyzebra321 · 08/06/2016 12:28

That's a good idea. I did check my measurements the other day but I compared them to the start rather than my last weigh in will go check now.

stripeyzebra321 · 08/06/2016 13:56

Some asshat has thrown away my measurements so I don't have a clue now.

All I know is I have gone down a belt hole on my jeans since last Friday and my what was very tight running crops are not actually digging in and giving me a muffin top so must be going in the right direction anyway

KP86 · 08/06/2016 13:57

I agree with going by measurements. Although scales haven't moved for an age, I do think my clothes are getting bigger. I have a collarbone again!

My favourite Covent garden soup is back on offer again this month so that's my lunches sorted for a while. It is the most difficult meal for me as you can't just have a toasted sandwich or make a fruit salad or similar.

YogaDrone · 08/06/2016 16:45

I'm doing okay so far I think although I haven't weighed myself yet. I thought I would wait until the weekend for that.

I'm finding the hardest part is breakfast, mainly because I used to just have a cereal bar on the way to work. I also hate yoghurt so that's not a possibility. Days I'm at home I've had scrambled egg and coffee.

Planning is definitely key I think. I've meal planned for two weeks ahead so far.

KP I think tonight is going to be the acid test for watching the household eat as they are having pizza (and I LOVE pizza). I'm tempted to have some but just eat the toppings Grin either that or I'll just have to eat in the other room!

BIWI - yes, Atkins isn't low veg but I did need to watch which veg I was eating as carrots, and many types of beans were out. I love green veg though so once I'd discovered chicken & bacon Caesar salad or tuna nicoise salad was okay (no croutons) I was set for lunch every day!

So far today (in the office) I've had 3 [naice] sausages for breakfast, three cups of tea with a spoonful of milk in each through the day and left over chicken and vegetable stir fry for lunch. And a litre of water. No exercise yet though.

KP86 · 08/06/2016 17:00

Yoga, if you have time, look at Fathead Pizza Dough, or google Meatza (basically mince shaped into a large pizza base and then topped with cheese and vegies). You don't have to miss out!

For snacks today I've had a handful of choc chips after lunch and then I did eat a mozzarella ball after our trip to Lidl. I didn't realise that it was more than 100g until I'd eaten half. Oops, but definitely not still hungry.

KP86 · 08/06/2016 20:34

Ok, so add a large LC microwave choc cake and cream to my menu for the day and I'm done.

Generally I'm still happy with how I've eaten. Carbs would be fine (or around about, anyway) but calories high.

Still no real activity, about 30-40 mins of walking during errands.

SheriffCallie · 08/06/2016 22:18

I had leftover Thai curry and cauli-rice for lunch (was even yummier than last night), copious amounts of black coffee, half an avocado at 4 as I was starving and egg fried cauli-rice with garlic, ginger and a splash of soy sauce for dinner.
2sq of dark choc with a coffee just now. Will put it all in mfp to check calories, hopefully it's good enough as it's hard to find high cal dairy free snacks. Planning on reintroducing dairy once I hit my target, I miss Greek yoghurt :(

KP86 · 08/06/2016 23:44

I meant to say earlier, that breakfast is hard, but you can cook ready-made things like bacon and cheese quiche in muffin pans which you can then quickly heat in the microwave and eat on the go, or have continental breakfast of ham, cheese and a cold boiled egg, Greek yoghurt with a few berries.

YogaDrone · 09/06/2016 12:47

Fat Head pizza looks lovely KP86 thanks for sharing the recipe.

I need a shopping list I think. Last time I cut out carbs there weren't many LC substitute offerings (apart from the hideously expensive Atkins branded ones). I'll lift the LC items from this thread and see what I can find at the supermarket this weekend.

I work full time about 50 hours per week so don't get much time during the week to go to the supermarket and need quick and easy dinner ideas.

The naice sausages DP bought me turned out to be laced with carbs so I think I bombed out yesterday Sad but other than that I was okay I think.

Today I've had 2 coffees with cream, one cup of tea with a tiny splash of milk and 3 frankfurters (0.5g carbs per 3 sausages) with a hard boiled egg and diet coke for lunch (sort of continental breakfast-ish). I have some olives and cheddar as a snack for later if I need it. Tonight is salmon with salad and green vegetables, which is easy because DP and DS can just have a few new potatoes instead of salad (DS think lettuce is the work of Satan and won't touch it! )

I've been doing it a week now but don't feel particularly any lighter. I'll weigh myself Saturday and either cry or cheer Smile

KP86 · 09/06/2016 13:24

Black Farmer and Debbie and Andrew's sausages are both perfect for LC and regularly on offer. D&A are big one, get one free at Waitrose/Ocado at the moment.

I do most of my shopping online, as it's far easier than dragging a 2yo around the supermarket. Ocado has the nutritional info on their pages as well so it makes it easier to track and plan as you go around.

KP86 · 09/06/2016 13:46

Low carb lasagne! Used slim pasta lasagne noodles. It worked out really well.

The cottage cheese was too watery and made a bit of a mess. I wonder if I mixed an egg and some Parmesan through if it would have helped to keep it together.

But it didn't matter either way. Still delish.

Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?
seasidesally · 09/06/2016 15:01

i use the Black Farmer sausages and co op sometimes have them for £3.50 for 10 but ive just bought exactly the same ones in Iceland for £3,iceland are so much better these days and do a fantastic frozen fish selection, tuna, salmon, seafood mix

deffo worth a look if you can get to one but you could also look online

i had the seafood selection from there yesterday 800g bag (i used 250g) for a fiver

seasidesally · 09/06/2016 15:05

the lasagne looks very tasty

your really good KP at the experementing and cooking, well done

KP86 · 09/06/2016 15:27

Sally, I agree that Iceland are great! Just a shame I have to walk past all the yummy junk food to get to the stuff we are allowed to have.

We eat the North Atlantic prawns which are around £10/kg, and I have also bought the 1kg bag of frozen white fish, IIRC it's pollock. It tastes ok and is fine for things like curry or the lettuce tacos last night.

seasidesally · 09/06/2016 16:26

i had 250g of the seafood mix and it was carb free and protein high and only aprrox190 cals, add in some garlic and white wine sauce and a splash of cream was delicious

and of course half a protein roll with loads of butter Grin

KP86 · 09/06/2016 16:31

Alright, food confession time - hopefully will stop me snacking the rest of the afternoon before sport tonight.

B: creamy coffee and 5 (smallish) slices Lidl version of smoked Parma ham.
L: half of the LC lasagne, 2 slices ham
AT: Pepsi Max, pork scratchings and a bowl of Greek yoghurt mixed with some double cream, vanilla (too much!) and a sprinkle of Natvia
D: will have a late snack after sport, maybe half a protein roll and an egg or grilled with cheese.

Water: 600ml so far, should be 2L by bed

Activity: 40 min sport tonight

Again, carbs are fine but calories high. I will be interested to see if I do lose weight this week. I feel like it might be the week where I finally dip into the 93s :) 94.2 this morning. So close I can practically taste it!

My snacks this afternoon weren't because I was particularly hungry, but because I was bored. Blush And I knew it but still didn't stop myself.

seasidesally · 09/06/2016 16:37

ha ha were all guilty of that

fingers crossed for your weigh in,im sure you've done great

YogaDrone · 10/06/2016 08:46

I love the sound of your seafood mix seasidesally - yummy.

I don't tend to be organised enough for online shopping but I take your points about shopping around.

Okay, so on my list I have protein rolls, LC pasta, Black Farmer or Debbie & Andrews sausages, almond flour, cream, seafood mix, green vegetables, loads more salad, mackerel, salmon, berries.

It's a work in progress so far.

I don't have anything with me for breakfast today but do have an enormous chicken and bacon salad with Caesar dressing for lunch so hopefully that will keep me going all day. If I do get desperate I have some nuts (small handful will be about 3g carbs).

Salmon and stir fried veges for supper.
