Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Hello again everyone (or maybe just me, but that's ok)

Still not tracking food in MFP, but keeping an eye on carbs. Pretty sure I'm staying under easily enough.

B: Creamy coffee, some hazelnuts and mixed seeds
L: Ham and cheese roll up, spoon of coconut oil
AT: Coffee with a splash of milk as I was out
Pre-dinner snack: pork scratchings, some more hazelnuts, seeds and a few salted peanuts
D: Chilli con carne (Mexican mince, really), with steamed LC vegies, topped with home made tzatziki.
Might make some dark choc ganache for dessert if I feel the need later.

I'm 99% sure that's it!

Water: 1.3L

Activity: About an hour of walking/pram pushing at the shops this afternoon. Not that I bought anything, forgot my purse!

I'm really hoping that by the end of this week I am back in the 94s (and this time for good). Please, please, please!! My June goal is to get to 90kg. I have two planned non-diet days, one being a night out for DH and I at a music gig (corporate box, can't say no to that), and I want to take DH out for breakfast for Father's Day.

KP86 · 01/06/2016 19:27

Oh, sorry Zebra, I didn't see your post! Oops. Not talking to myself then.

A bikini... that's dreamland (and a tummy tuck) territory for me.

Haven't done 30 day shred myself but there are a few threads on it and it seems to go down well for some people. DH has been doing the 7 minute work out from an app and he can already see the improvements in himself which is wonderful. Has done it about 4 or 5 times in 10 days.

stripeyzebra321 · 01/06/2016 19:36

That's really interesting thanks KP!

I've been stealing some of your meal ideas as up until now I have been having very bland food.

I see you have pork scratchings quite often. They are my favorite and I didn't know they were low in carbs until I googled. Thank you

I know what I'm having tonight Grin

KP86 · 01/06/2016 20:48

I get my scratchings in a 5 X multi pack from Poundland. They are small bags, 18g and 120cal each. Just enough to take the edge off hunger as well as being delicious!

SheriffCallie · 02/06/2016 10:20

I've never had pork scratchings, I'm stuck for snacks so might give them a whirl.
Hey Sally, how are you feeling now? I've been thinking about you.
KP, your menu sounds good. I LOVE tzatziki. Did you make the ganache?
Great loss Stripy, that's very steady :). I did the 30 day shred after having DS and saw great results but it was in combination with breastfeeding and going dairy free, so I'm not sure which contributed the most. I def feel better when I exercise.
I've stalled completely, I've been 9st1 for a few weeks now. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I don't carb count but am eating eggs, cream/tog/cheese, meat, oils, green salad and LC veg, so I don't think I'm getting it wrong. I think I might need to cut out dairy again and see if that helps.
I'm disheartened a little, but planning to keep at it anyway. I'm sure I'll shift that next lb soon :)

KP86 · 02/06/2016 13:52

Stalls suck! They can go and jump off a cliff. This can be our week. Maybe increase activity a bit more?

I didn't have ganache, but I did have a small bowl of choc chips on their own.

My afternoon coffee completely screwed my night, I didn't manage to fall asleep until about 1am. This is why I never allow myself caffeine after lunch!

Just remembered that because I'm playing sport tonight I need to have a decent lunch, and soon. I had unintentionally missed it because DS and I were out longer than I planned this morning and while I bought him a cheese sandwich from the M&S cafe there wasn't anything LC that tickled my fancy.

Might make myself sausages and eggs with vegies.

seasidesally · 02/06/2016 20:17

hi all been keeping an eye on you all

SheriffCallie thanks or asking im better had a few bad days but am feeling brighter, made myself go swimming and get out in the sunshine, getting them feel good hormones going

i had some chocolate binges but havent touched bread, pasta, potatoes etc but today has been the start of me lc like i was before

wont weigh for 1-2 weeks so i can get back into it as i will find it hard having no chocolate

today alot of coffee with cream
cheescake mix with frozen berries and biscuit topping
smoked haddock cooked in butter
mediterranian veg mix (courgette, red onion, pepper)in butter and some mayo

KP86 · 03/06/2016 08:12

Hi Sally, great to hear from you. So pleased you're back on the wagon. And very impressed that you stayed so good when you weren't feeling great. Well done.

Here's my food from yesterday:
B: half protein roll with butter and egg; creamy coffee
L1: slice low fat cheese that I stole from DS's sandwich
L2: 1.5 Black Farmer pork sausages (DS repaid the favour and stole the other half), LC vegies and tzatziki; SF ginger beer
Snacks: 2 packs pork scratchings, hazelnuts, mixed seeds and dark choc drops throughout the day
Water: 1L
Activity: 75 min high intensity sport; about 2 hours of wandering

KP86 · 03/06/2016 08:14

So freakin' tired at the moment. I just want to go away by myself for a night and two days and be able to be completely selfish and leisurely. No errands, no cooking, no tidying, no entertaining a demanding 2yo and lots of sleep!

Actually, maybe I need a week's break. That'll do it.

seasidesally · 03/06/2016 10:51

thankyou

quick reply as im going to a mini theme park for the day

a toddler is exhausting,im a fare bit down the line and you forget how full on it can be,go easy on yourself if you can

your doing fab sticking to LC ,i havent been looking at Bc threads so hows it going ?

have a great day and will check in later

KP86 · 03/06/2016 11:56

I haven't looked at BC threads for about a week. It moves so quickly! But I still have this thread which is enough for me.

Enjoy your day out. I had a little nap and this afternoon we are going for a drive which will break up the rest of the day.

SheriffCallie · 03/06/2016 15:58

Quickly jumped on the scales in work and I've lost 0.7kg since wed. And that's with shoes and chunky necklace on so I'm claiming a victory :). I've only cut out dairy for one day, so not sure if its that or if my stall was due to finish.
Toddlers are a killer, right. My 3yr old is struggling with the light evenings and mornings, so is perpetually overtired and hysterical. Reaching for a handful of nuts instead of a massive cookie as comfort doesn't feel quite the same 😂.
Sally I'm glad you are managing to keep active, I'm sure it helps. Well done for not falling off the wagon completely. Hope you fall back in the swing of things quickly.

seasidesally · 03/06/2016 19:22

hi girls,

wow thats a big loss sheriffi wonder if it was dairy, would be great to find out, well done on that

*kp^ them threads are so fast, wish i had kept up with them, may need a huge read of them, hope you enjoyed your drive and got some peace

great day today

plenty of walking and done some activity on the small assault course,we were out for 8hrs and although plenty of coffee and chat and sitting down as the kids are older so have a bit more freedom there was still a fare bit of walking

so good to be out in the sunshine

food so far

2 low carb black thingy sausages
1 marmite cheese
not many coffees and cream but more water, yay

whole red peppper stuffed a tin of tuna mixed with mayo and a heap of grated cheese on top cooked in the oven for 20mins

have just under 300 cals left, not sure what to use them up on yet

KP86 · 03/06/2016 19:34

Good work, Sally. It makes me smile to read you've had a nice day.

Sooo much laziness here this week. The crap weather just stuffed us, I think! DS is going stir crazy being inside but most of our usual activities weren't on due to holidays and I was loathe to take him to soft play or swimming because it would have been swarming with kids, especially on the rainy days. He is hard enough to handle when there aren't many others, let alone if I could 'lose' him in a crowd.

No proper meals until dinner tonight, but I did have various snacks throughout the day
Can of Diet Coke, pork scratchings, hazelnuts and seeds (now finished) and dark chocolate bits
Dinner was beef burgers with bacon, 1 egg, mushrooms and salad. I had mine with a protein roll. Soooo bloody stuffed now. I was going to have a small glass of wine after dinner but I don't think I could fit it in!

Still confident that I stayed below carb targets, but no way did I stay under any sort of arbitrary calorie targets. I have spent this week not officially counting so keen to see if it makes a difference.

Massive headache because I've only had about 600ml water.

Wishing everyone a good weekend.

seasidesally · 03/06/2016 20:04

well hopefully all back to normal on Monday,im guessing your son goes to nursery

i think the school/nursery holidays throws our routines out a little so we feel less in control of food, well i do anyway

yesterday and today carbs have been below 15 each day so happy with that

havent had a protein roll for a few weeks, may have one tomorrow, glad you enjoy them,i think their a great alternative to other bread

KP86 · 03/06/2016 20:12

The protein rolls are indeed fabulous! I don't know how they manage to keep them so low carb!

DS goes to a child minder for six hours one day per week, that's my break time. But she doesn't work during school holidays, and most of our regular mum and tot groups don't run during holidays either.

TBH, I would happily work 2-3 days per week if I could find something suitable, I'm a much, much better parent when I'm not doing it 100% of the time. DH is very hands on (def no complaints in that regard), does all the evening stuff and at least half of any overnight wakings which are pretty rare now, but sometimes you just don't want to be someone's Mum for five minutes! A chance to go to the loo by yourself or wake up naturally instead of being a (rather cute) kid is 5 cm away from your face saying 'Morning, Mummy' or 'Wake up! Wake up!'

seasidesally · 03/06/2016 20:22

ive always said the most over used word in the English language is Mum

i remember when the twins were little and all the mums and tots groups all stopped in the school Holidays, did my head in,you have my sympathy

not to long till normal routine continues horahhhhhhhhhhh, then 5 weeks and the blardy summer holidays start Shock

SheriffCallie · 03/06/2016 22:17

Sally, twins? faints. I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better now.
I've just managed to get the 5yr old to fall asleep. I feel like I'm never off duty atm, it's work then home to do the bedtime rush, and the kids have not adjusted to the clock change well. Me time starts at 10pm, I chug a cup of tea, chat to hubby for 10mins, sort out lunches and then go to bed before the first one wakes.
Where do you all get your protein rolls from?

seasidesally · 03/06/2016 22:42

ha ha the twins are 17 now but i still remember the early days well

sheriff sounds like it's full on for you at the moment i doubt you have time for food Smile

protein rolls are from Lidl approx 35p each, they are in the bakery section in the baskets, they are a dark rye colour and a triangle shape

there pretty big so i cut them in half and freeze half or buy a few cut and freeze,i would say if you like wholemeal/brown bread you will like these

its got 10 carbs but its a big roll and has alot of fibre

SheriffCallie · 05/06/2016 11:49

I tried out local Lidl but they didn't have any. Gutted.
I've such a challenge ahead today. I'm baking a cake for my friends birthday and taking it over. He'll insist on giving me a piece and I'll really struggle to say no. Wish me luck :)

KP86 · 05/06/2016 15:58

Good luck! Stay strong. (Says she who had a full afternoon tea at M&S today!) Maybe make yourself a LC snack to take or have while baking in case you're tempted?

Yesterday was fine, carb-wise, but still not tracking calories. Can't remember everything I ate but it was all acceptable. I did have a vodka and dry in the evening but that's LC, right?? ;)

I knew today wasn't going to be LC as we had a planned day out in Tunbridge Wells. I was planning just a cream tea for lunch as I have a voucher but it ended up being a full afternoon tea from M&S. Too much of a bargain at £12.95 for 2 people. Delicious but I was soooo full after! Could have left the mini cakes and still been very satisfied.

I'll have a good dinner, I've got chicken pieces out ready to roast and will make a salad or some roasted vegies to go with.

This morning I was still in 94s, so let's hope I haven't ruined it all today. We did do a reasonable amount of walking (lots of hills in that area!) so fingers crossed I am working off the extra.

Gorgeous day, hope everyone is out enjoying themselves. I love his weather, despite the horrendous hay fever that comes with it.

YogaDrone · 05/06/2016 16:57

Hi, may I join?

I've read through the thread this afternoon and it's given me lots of ideas (desperately needed!). I lost about 20Kg 10 years ago doing Atkins but then blew it by getting pregnant and have been putting the lost weight on ever since!

I'm 175cm tall and weigh 76Kg. I want to lose 7-10Kg. Not much by some of your amazing standards I know but still a challenge for me.

I've only been low carbing for 2 days so very early stages. On leave tomorrow so off to the supermarket to stock up for some of the ideas given here Smile

Steak and salad for dinner followed by strawberries and cream (if I'm hungry later). From what I've read on here I'm not eating enough fats so far, so the cream should fix that.

Thanks for the inspiration and ideas everyone, enjoy your evenings Smile

seasidesally · 05/06/2016 20:20

welcome YogaDrone hope you find the thread helpful,we all fall of the wagon but get back on.i think me and kp are struggling at the moment (sorry kp i your not) Smile one of the things i like about this thread is that were honest if we indulge or are fining it tough

wow that was a massive amount to lose so you know you can lose it.

i can only dream of 76kg but you know what you need to be and im sure you will succeed

what are you eating ?? how long did it take you to lose 20kg,thats some achievement will be looking to you for some tips i think

spent today gardening againnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

cleaning and filling 12ft pool and generally pottering though this is the first time ive sat down so hoping ive racked up a bit of actviity

as usual a good amount of coffee and cream and first food im haing in 30mins a posh fishcake and spinach and mayo

didnt read the info thorouhly on the fishcakes and thought they were 18g for 2 they are huge,oh no their that each ffs,i would only have one anyway but wouldnt of bought them if i had realised

but im the only one that will eat them so i am,will freeze the other

rotten luck SheriffCallie do they have their own bakery part ??

seasidesally · 05/06/2016 20:23

so many spelling mistakes Shock

SheriffCallie · 06/06/2016 11:00

They do have the bakery bit Sally, just didn't seem to have the protein rolls.
I fell off the wagon last night big style. I had cake, and then decided since id broken, I may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, and have some of what i missed most. So I had some Doritos and a few Twirl bites. Grin.

Back on it today, with eggs for breakfast and I've tuna avocado salad for lunch. We also chopped down lots of bushes and hedges yesterday so the clear up of that will resume later. That's my workout.
