Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

KP86 · 27/05/2016 16:39

Stay well, Sally. We will be cheering you on from the sidelines.

Today has been hellish in my house, so I'm currently drinking a SF ginger beer with white rum. Hopefully that's fairly low carb.

SheriffCallie · 27/05/2016 20:59

KP I'm never way under, just a few. my macros show that I'm usually 70-80% fat, and I try to bump up my cals with cream in the evening but maybe I should try to include more olive oil, etc through the day.
Sally, sorry to hear you have been feeling not so good recently. Do you have a CPN? Can you let them know it feels a bit unstable right now? Better to get the supports in place early. It's understandable that you won't feel like posting for a bit but just know that we'll be thinking about you.

KP86 · 28/05/2016 20:23

That's good Sheriff.

Not a good day today. I wanted to trial not tracking food but just watching carbs but I didn't stick to it AND I'm sure I way over ate. I need the accountability of 'do I really want this when I'll have to put it in the app later?'

Hope you're going well.

ihatethecold · 29/05/2016 08:12

Hey KP and Sally.
How are you both?
Sally, sorry to read you're not feeling great.
I've just read the past two weeks of posts.
It's quite amusing 😊

ihatethecold · 29/05/2016 08:15

Oops. Posted too soon
Obviously not amusing that's Sally's not feeling great.
Just making me smile with your daily food diaries and slip ups.
Keeping it real ladies!

I haven't put any of the weight back on, still 10 st but my eating has been on and off for a few weeks due to extreme stress Sad
Haven't LC at all.
Seems like the last thing on my mind.

KP86 · 29/05/2016 08:28

I know what you mean. Glad you've maintained even though not LC.

I am really struggling with motivation to stay LC at the moment. Yesterday and today are both out. Hovering around 94-95kg and the scales just won't go and stay down! My fault completely. Need to exercise a lot more, as clearly I'm doing/eating enough to maintain but not lose.

ihatethecold · 29/05/2016 08:54

Have you tried chromium supplements to help with the sugar cravings?
I take one from H & B that also has biotin and cinnamon in.
I think it does help.

KP86 · 29/05/2016 08:57

Thanks, I'll check those out.

Need to start taking multi-vs again, but we are half TTC #2 at the moment and am paranoid about having too much VitA.

seasidesally · 29/05/2016 11:40

im keeping an eye on you all still

i slept from 5pm yesterday tea time till 9am this morning and nly woke once for 5mins Hmm

ive got an appointment through for a review of my MH yesterday a week Tuesday so thats good

decided i need more sunshine and activity so im forcing myself to take my son swimming,im hoping the exercise will lift me

keep posting girls

KP86 · 29/05/2016 18:37

I made LC brownies today, not bad. Nothing like real brownies but could be an OK substitute with whipped cream.

Another non-LC day but back tomorrow. Feeling quite determined to get past my 94kg hurdle. It will happen!

KP86 · 29/05/2016 20:06

Oh wow, I've just realised they are only about 1.5g of (net) carbs each.

stripeyzebra321 · 30/05/2016 11:47

I like to read all your posts to keep my motivation going.

I am normally 100% when I'm in ketosis but had a couple of wobbles yesterday as was hungry so made myself a scrambled egg snack quite late and it did the trick.

I'm 6 weeks in and 1stone 1lb down and to my target I have the same amount to loose again. I am aiming to be in ketosis for another 6-8 weeks as I have events towards the end of July and it's not the sort of places I can low carb at so I have been prepared before I started.

I've been silly in my head as I've been a bit disheartened with my loss lately but it's a steady rate of 2-2.5 lbs weekly and I had a though today. I used to go to slimming club and in 8 months I lost 4 stone. The first went in a month and it took 7 to loose the remaining 3 stone so compared to that I am doing well and I need to remember that.

It's really awkward as I really want to buy some long shorts and crops but I'm going to wait as I don't know what size I will be i am no longer a 14 on my bottom half but I think a 10 would be far too ambitious as I carry all my weight on my tum bum and thighs.

PussInBoots89 · 30/05/2016 12:28

Stripeyzebra321 you did very well to opt for the scrambled egg last night. It could of been a lot worse than that so well done!

You have got a brilliant over-all loss so far, you must be amazed with how well you have done and i'm sure it wont be long until you actually reach your goal weight. Especially if you keep going at this rate!

Your losses are fantastic, even though its a 2-2.5lb loss each week, thats still great and just tell yourself that every pound gone is a pound closer to your goal.

KP86 · 30/05/2016 13:58

Great work, stripeyzebra! You are doing brilliantly.

stripeyzebra321 · 30/05/2016 14:51

Ah thanks!

I have done low carb in the past but did low carb low cal and the weight literally fell off I was getting 7lbs, 6lbs and 5lbs weekly my smallest was 3lbs but as soon as I came off for just 1 night I put on 6lbs. For me the quicker it goes the quicker it comes straight back on so I have hopes I may actually maintain it this time.

In terms of seeing the weight dissapear I notice it in my clothes but when I look in the mirror I can't really notice a difference. I did do before photos and I can't see much change.

We are going to have a meat feat BBQ today, I looked at the packers for everything and picked out some very low carb things. Also over the moon I have found a 0 carb cheese! We would normally opt for a lower fat cheese not half fat as as a family we don't like them but going for a full fat one has lowered the carbs compared to a reduced fat one. I'm quite confused as normally I would but low fat / light options of everything but ATM I'm having to buy normal products.

It's a different world.

KP86 · 30/05/2016 15:31

Yep, it is weird to begin with. Makes your meat bill a lot smaller because you don't have to buy the expensive low fat versions!

Unprocessed meat and fish should be zero carb anyway, if that helps. Higher fat just help you to stay feeling fuller for longer.

With dairy, the higher the fat, the lower the carbs. Most hard cheeses should be virtually zero carb as well.

Onken natural set yoghurt is less than 4% carbs, which is pretty good. A great dessert with a splash of vanilla mixed through and a few fresh berries or super dark choc drops.

KP86 · 30/05/2016 19:34

Ok, I didn't track food today in MFP, but am confident that I'm well under carbs. Dunno about calories, but I wasn't snacking all day so feel fine about that too.

B: half protein roll with butter and egg; creamy coffee
L: some roast pork with lots of fat, one slice mozzarella and a chunk of Brie
AT: SF cloudy lemonade, LC brownie with a small spoon butter on top
D: roast pork with fat, asparagus, cauli and broc, with some thin gravy made with Bistro powder and pork drippings
Snack: 2 X LC brownies with butter

Water: 1.2L

SheriffCallie · 31/05/2016 13:02

Sally, hope you are feeling better lovely.
Stripyzebra, welcome. Fab loss so far.
I've had BBQ 2 days in a row. Went for quality burger, 1 sausage and salad leaves with mayo. I also made veg skewers with aubergine, mushroom and peppers, coated in olive oil, steak spice, and bbqed. They were yummy.
I made aubergine parmigiana at the weekend, it's was lovely and everyone wanted seconds (bar the fussy 5yr old).
Haven't been drinking enough water these last few days, I don't think, so making an effort today. 1l down, 2 to go.
How's everyone today?

SheriffCallie · 31/05/2016 13:03

KP, low carb brownies? Can I hear more?

KP86 · 31/05/2016 13:11

Here is the recipe which I roughly followed

cafedelites.com/2015/07/21/low-carb-zucchini-brownies/

I used less Natvia, maybe only 1/4 cup, but I reckon even less than that. I didn't have peanut flour so I used about the same amount of coconut flour, and added an extra egg as coconut flour is really, really absorbent. Probably used more butter and coconut oil as well. They still ended up with quite a dry mouth feel. I ate them with double cream or a big slice of butter on top, it was needed. Still pretty tasty for LC!

Easiest way to bake was in a silicon muffin tray, I divided the mix into the 12 cups, pressed them down and then baked for 15 mins or until they smelled cooked.

KP86 · 31/05/2016 13:14

Your food looks great, too.

I keep meaning to make some skewers to grill, such a good way of getting some LC food into you at a BBQ.

I might make up a Greek or Morrocan spice mix and use lamb mince to make koftas, which could be served with a nice greek-style salad, with tzatziki to dip.

KP86 · 31/05/2016 18:44

Evening, everyone.

It has been a very, very long day in our household. DS was awake around 4am, and he had his 'after lunch' nap at 9am! It made for a tiring afternoon.

But, I've been good with my food which is a plus. No cheating for two days, despite wanting wine for breakfast! (Well, not quite, but I was close)

B: coffee with splash of milk because we ran out of cream; last LC brownie with butter
L: cheese and ham roll up
AT: pork scratchings, half protein roll, coconut oil
D: rather yummy salad of baby gem, torn fresh mint, crumbled feta, 75g cooked beetroot wedges, some toasted mixed seeds, mushrooms fried in coconut oil, topped with leftover pork from last night and dressed with some of the runny gravy/jus. It's amazing how easy it is to come up with really tasty LC meals without having to try very hard. I estimated that it was around 10g (net) carbs for dinner which I'm happy about.

Water: 1.3L

I did around one hour of walking exercise today as well.

KP86 · 31/05/2016 18:44

I forgot to attach this. Tonight's dinner.

Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?
stripeyzebra321 · 01/06/2016 11:18

Just had my weekly weds weigh in. 2.6lbs down. I'm quite pleased with that as I always lose 2-2.5 per week.
We have just upped the anti as just in the process of booking a holiday in September. This should really motivate me as its unexpected and I've never ever felt comfortable in a bikini as however how much I lose in clothes I look fine but I have deceiving big legs and tummy so I am really going to work on that this year.

Has anyone tried the 30 day shed workout? I really need to get my bum in gear now and do something.
