Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Ok, so it's confession time... this is what I ate on Sunday

B: DH cooked breakfast, 2 eggs on 2 slices wholemeal toast with butter, 4 slices back bacon, latte with milk
MT: Can Pepsi Max
L: This was out at a restaurant, where we ordered tapas. 1.5 meatballs, 2 pieces fried calamari (so light and delicious!), 2 small slices pieces turkish bread (the type you might use for dip)
AT: 2 slices (!!) cake - about 300g
D: Half a family pizza with stuffed cheese crust. DH's pick, TBH I would have picked something a lot healthier, and 1 french stick slice of garlic cheese toast; 330ml glass wine

Estimated total calories for the day was around 4700, with almost 200g each fat and protein and 470g carbs. When not 'dieting', this probably would have been a fairly standard weekend day for us. Maybe with a proper lunch rather than a few bites... Scary, scary stuff. MFP said that if I ate like this everyday then I would gain 2kg each week.

I shouldn't have eaten all that pizza or cake either (about half of each would have been satisfying, and I found the cake extremely sweet, but part of me was stuck in the whole 'in for a penny, in for a pound' mindset of cheating for the day.

I definitely paid for it, I'm sure I had lost 1kg over the week which was back on by the next day.

SheriffCallie · 24/05/2016 20:11

Did you enjoy it though? Would be worse if you were hating the food :). And at least you know you would have been satisfied with 1/2 the cake, next time you can have a piece and then tell yourself that the second slice isn't worth it.
Our weekends wouldn't have been dissimilar, if that helps. And the odd weekday evening if I'd had a stressful day at work. I'd stop for petrol and leave having spent £5 on rubbish food to eat while watching TV ☺️.
I've lost the cheeky lb I gained in week 3. Hurrah. And we had bbq tonight and I stuck to a burger and a spicy chicken skewer. Had salad stuff but was satisfied with the meat so didn't take any.
Might have some frozen raspberries with double cream later to increase my fat intake today.

seasidesally · 24/05/2016 20:12

well if your gonna do something do it propally KP

was it worth it ??

what do you weigh now,how long does it take to show on the scales do you think Grin

after a day like that is it difficult to get back into LC

KP86 · 24/05/2016 21:04

I was 95.3 on Monday, the same as I was the previous Monday when I weighed in for BC.

Was it worth it? Yes and no. The treats, yes, if I had stuck to decent servings rather than the whole lot, but not the weight gain (which showed up the next day).

Today's food:
B: egg on half protein roll with coconut oil, creamy coffee
L: Covent Garden Thai chicken soup with slim noodles
AT: pork scratchings, 45g Brie
D: curried sausages and steamed broccoli, asparagus and zucchini
Snack: SF jelly and cream

Carb cravings eased by this afternoon. Helped that I had a decent nap while DS was sleeping so I wasn't sitting around looking for something to eat.

Water only 1.3L

Activity: went for a 35 min brisk walk when DH got home from work.

Still stayed way under carbs and basically met calorie/other macro goals for the day.

I've also menu planned for the next two days. Trying to keep it varied and interesting.

I did buy some Beetroot in the shopping this week and that is ok, carb wise (about 5% net carbs) and I will make a salad with baby gem, beetroot, feta, mint and maybe some toasted pine nuts if I buy some tomorrow. A bit of lemon juice and oil for dressing. Served with grilled/fried chicken breast or lamb steaks, it's delicious.

seasidesally · 24/05/2016 21:19

thats good you have stayed the same weight,if that was me i would be happy with that

SheriffCallie · 24/05/2016 22:33

Salad sounds lovely KP. I too, would be happy with a stall, when I've cheated I've gained.
Oh my word, my frozen raspberries with a tbsp cream were amazing. Felt like a proper dessert. 😀

seasidesally · 25/05/2016 09:19

woke up at 5 with another banging headache i drank much more water than normal yesterday but i think im lacking in salt as i normally forget to add and my food is not salty in itself

so ive just added 1/2 teaspoon to some water and drank it,gonna have a bovril later and hope thats the cause

hope you all have a good day

SheriffCallie · 25/05/2016 12:57

Hope the salts help, Sally.

I had run out of eggs so I had a few spoons of yoghurt this morning and a black coffee.
I was then hungry by 12pm so I ate the beefburger I had brought to work for my lunch. Debating whether to go and get some soup, or whether to have some more Greek yoghurt just to keep me topped up.
No idea what's for dinner. It's in my husbands hands. Some kind of meat with potatoes for them and salad for me I suspect.

seasidesally · 25/05/2016 13:39

even though im happily single it would be nice for someone else to cook sometimes

mind you this way im in control and while out shopping decided to buy a steak for my tea and going to try and make a sauce, ive just picked up some red cooking wine, been looking for ages for it so will make a sauce with that and cream and mushrooms i think

oh i love a burger, did you enjoy it??

do you have the yogurt plain or do you add berries etc ?

Worcswoman · 25/05/2016 13:40

Yes please I'd love to do this.

seasidesally · 25/05/2016 14:18

sorry Worcs what??

SheriffCallie · 25/05/2016 16:01

Hi Worcs, are you joining us in low carb, high fat eating? There is good support on here :)

KP86 · 25/05/2016 16:26

My water consumption has gone out the window this week. Grrrr! Need to get better again.

seasidesally · 25/05/2016 16:38

Hi Worcs, are you joining us in low carb, high fat eating? There is good support on here smile

ha ha put so much better than me Grin

KP86 · 25/05/2016 19:57

Lol, Sally! Way to be welcoming Wink

Today was a big eating day. I was a bit hungry (bored, more likely) and had lots of little bits and pieces. Still only 5g net carbs overall which is good.

B: one egg on half protein roll with around 20ml coconut oil, creamy coffee
L: 1.75 babybels (one for me plus DS leftovers), which I cooked in two ways - one was in the microwave for 15s and one I cut in half and put on the sandwich press (with greaseproof paper) but it didn't work out that well. Still tasty! I also had Thai soup and noodles and a teaspoon coconut oil.
AT: another spoon coconut oil. I've now put it back in the cupboard! It's a weirdly tasty thing to have a quick spoon of.
D: really, really yummy creamy pesto pasta with chicken, mushrooms, zucchini, spinach and broccoli and slim pasta in a cream and pesto sauce.
Snack: SF jelly and cream

Water: 1.3L Blush

Activity: short but brisk walk to and from play group in the drizzle. We stayed inside this afternoon given the weather.

seasidesally · 25/05/2016 21:45

im known as blunt and say it as it is Grin maybe to much

smacks hand

KP86 · 25/05/2016 21:55

Far out, we are twins in every single way.

I am as blunt as they come and it gets me in all sorts of awkward spots!!

I usually preface meeting new people with 'if I offend you I won't have meant it and I'm sorry!'

seasidesally · 25/05/2016 22:30

omg me and my friends partner used to lock horns if we were on a night out,so before we drank to much we apologised beforehand for any arguments later on

2yrs ago i was diagnosed as having bipolar and that explained some of my blunt talk and impetious behaviour Grin

KP86 · 26/05/2016 08:13

I have to share this morning's breakfast. Such a treat yet completely LC-friendly!

Piece of salmon, which I cooked to give it a crispy skin (granted, I burned it slightly), then I peeled the skin off and ate that and broke the fish into smaller pieces to finish cooking. Served with 2 eggs scrambled with a slurp of double cream, plenty of salt and pepper and a sprinkle of dill, with cooked mushrooms and spinach on the side. So filling (3/4 would have been plenty, I reckon) and delicious.

I'm playing sport tonight so I've mixed my meals up. Bigger meals at breakfast and lunch and soup and protein roll for dinner if I'm hungry when I return home around 9:30.

Wishing everyone a good day all around. Ours started at 5am when DS decided it was time to wake up, but so far I'm coping ok. I see another lunch time nap in my future...

KP86 · 26/05/2016 13:41

And here's lunch. Huge meal but hopefully that will be it until 9:30 tonight.

200g chicken breast cooked with a couple of tsp coconut oil
4 mushrooms
Asparagus
Zucchini
Cauli
Broccoli
A big dollop (maybe 2-3tblsp) of Hellman's mayo

Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?
seasidesally · 26/05/2016 15:00

so cross with myself, was out and a friend offerred me a drink,i was in soda water and said no they bought me one anyway and i felt rude to say no again, didnt think was vodka and coke, normal and not diet just found out it has loads of carbs.one drink and the days a bloody right of

i told them i didnt want it,so cross with myself

KP86 · 26/05/2016 19:21

Doesn't matter Sally. So rude of your friend though.

Just don't do what I do and go nuts for the rest of the day, just because you may as well. Not worth it!

KP86 · 26/05/2016 22:06

Sport this evening, soooooooo much fun. I'd forgotten how much I missed it.

B: piece of salmon, two eggs and cream scrambled, mushrooms and spinach
MT: black instant coffee
L: 200g chicken breast baked with coconut oil, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower and zucchini with a huge dollop of Hellman's mayo; SF ginger beer
D (more like supper, it was at 9:30pm): bowl of Onken natural set yoghurt with some vanilla, and some chocolate ganache with 80% choc chips plus a pack of pork scratchings. The ganache and scratchings were partly to increase my fat intake for the day.

I've really enjoyed my day of switching things up, I didn't go looking for snacks at all, which is extremely unusual for me! I wish I could do it everyday, but would be tough since I have to prepare family dinner as well.

SheriffCallie · 26/05/2016 22:07

Oh no Sally, it's hard to refuse in that type of situation. Get back on it tomorrow and chalk it down to experience?
KP, your breakfast sounds lovely. I love salmon. I buy the packets of smoked salmon off cuts from Asda and mix them in my scrambled egg. Drool!
Weighed today and still haven't lost this week. Feeling disheartened, don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm just in a stall. Have been tracking on mfp too and am always under cals so I'm confused. Will up my water and keep at it, and will be letting off party poppers and streamers when the next lb comes off!!

KP86 · 26/05/2016 23:09

Being way under calories each day is no good, your body might go into starvation mode. (Been there, got the shit metabolism for life as a result.)

Are you having enough fat? Seems strange but the whole premise is eating fat burns more fat so you gotta have a lot!

I forget, how many weeks in are you? I seem to remember stalling around weeks 3 and 4, then lost a chunk more. It has been a lot slower after my first two weeks of losing 6kg super quickly, but I'm getting there.

No positive movement for a fortnight or so for me either, but it will come. Have faith.
