Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

K make yourself some icecream. Its not very low carb but I have frozen banana icecream. Freeze some sliced banana then put it in processor and keep whizzing until it eventually looks like icecream. Then eat. It really really tastes just like icecream.
There are some lovely recipies I have used for making coconut cream icecream too. I also eat coyo yoghurt with berries and vanilla. You can add cocopowder too

My favourite indulgent dessert is cream and cream cheese whipped together with a bit of lemon juice and vanilla to make a low carb cheesecake mix. It's super yummy, but very more-ish!

I'm good for tonight, early to bed to watch some Netflix on the iPad. Caught a bit of sun with DS down at the park this afternoon and I think it's gone to my head. So tired!

AllwaysBeYourself · 04/05/2016 21:04

Sounds lovely K. I don't eat dairy in any form.

AllwaysBeYourself · 04/05/2016 21:10

Its so hard to not give in the the urge to have a piece of toast or some chocolate or cake though isn't it? I know I struggle at times and wonder why I do it. Thing is though, for me, I can do this more or less all the time and lose weight. I find it forgiving enough for a few blips too.

KP86 · 05/05/2016 12:58

That's the tough thing about LC. There are no half cheats. I think this is a big problem for me, as I said yesterday. You can't have a sliver of cake and still be on target like you could with plain old calorie counting - if you go out of ketosis you're done for a day or two, so (in my mind) I say I may as well go nuts.

AllwaysBeYourself · 05/05/2016 13:20

That's the difference for me K. I'm paleo which is lowish carb so I don't intentionally go into ketosis therefor I lose weight by eating healthy natural foods but doesn't have an impact if I eat some higher carb foods. Slow but steady. I couldn't do low low carb as that would lead me to disordered eating unfortunately.

seasidesally · 05/05/2016 15:05

right ive bought some ff greek yogurt and im going to bake a stick of rubarb with lemon juice, may be a bit sour,we shall see later

KP86 · 05/05/2016 17:41

Let us know :)

KP86 · 05/05/2016 19:18

Hello, everyone.

Sally, how was your rhubarb? Or is it for after dinner tonight?

ihate, hope you are improving in leaps and bounds and were able to eat a bit more today.

Allways, you make good points about Paleo being a little more forgiving but there's no way I could give up dairy. I would rather not have sugar than cream!

Food for today:
B: Spoon of coconut oil (forgot I had this yesterday as well), black coffee at play group
L: Mushroom soup
AT: Pork scratchings, SF ginger beer; then a few spoons of cheesecake mix while I was making it before dinner
D: Salmon with creamy vegie bake with mushrooms, cauli, broc and zucchini
Dessert: May have some more cheesecake mix, but right now I'm not hungry. There was a lot of cream and cheese in the vegie bake so I don't have a lot of calories leftover for the day anyway.

Activity: Walking into town and going to the park, playing with DS

Total carbs: 13g not including dessert

ihatethecold · 05/05/2016 20:15

Thanks KP.
I'm feeling pretty much ok again now.
Took the dogs for a 2 hour walk today and ate ok.
I'm still at exactly 10 st so falling off the wagon then getting norovirus means I'm even! Grin

I still can't think about any fancy or rich food though.
Today has been bland but I've eaten more.

seasidesally · 05/05/2016 20:33

KP86 · 06/05/2016 20:18

Good work Sally. Your garden is going to look fabulous after all this work you've put into it. I want photos!

I worked today as a favour to my boss, so at least I got a full day of activity on my feet.

B: 2 small spoons coconut oil
L: Covent Garden Thai soup with Slim Noodles, a couple of bites of smoked salmon, cucumber and Brie at work.
Snack: a couple of spoons cheese cake mix
D: leftover roast pork and creamy vegie bake from earlier in the week
Snack: SF jelly

I've been drinking water and black tea all day. I have been really good with my water this past week or so, at least 1L/day which is a significant improvement for me.

ihatethecold · 06/05/2016 20:30

Hi guys.
Not a great day today health wise.
Struggling with nausea.
I'm fed up. Sad

KP86 · 06/05/2016 20:38

Oh dear. I wish we could do something to help!

ihatethecold · 06/05/2016 20:41

Waaahhhhh 😩😩😩😩

ihatethecold · 06/05/2016 20:42

I'm laying in bed feeling sorry for myself. I've sent my dh downstairs to eat his snack cos it's not helping. Poor sod only wanted a ham roll.

ImperialBlether · 06/05/2016 20:45

Please could someone tell me the brand name for the ketostix they're using? There are mixed reviews for some on Amazon. Thanks.

ImperialBlether · 06/05/2016 20:59

Thanks, will check them out.

BIWI · 06/05/2016 22:25

You really don't need the ketostix! If you're drinking the amount of water that you should be, then they won't register very much. You'll be wasting your money.

ImperialBlether · 07/05/2016 12:39

OK thanks, BIWI. I know it's a pain but please could you tell me the name of the thread where you listed all the low carb food?
