Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

thanks,i dont use any sweetners,i might add a squeeze of lemon, might be in iteresting,ha ha

ive thought of bootcamp but i think im fairly strict but may have a look each day out of curiosity

BIWI · 03/05/2016 21:54

Rhubarb is really low carb - however, you'll probably have to sweeten it with something! I use a bit of stevia

ihatethecold It's not really that restrictive - it's only the first two weeks that are particularly so. But those two weeks mean that you become fat-adapted, which is the key to losing weight.

I have started back properly today. Im doing Paleo and don't eat dairy, grains, sugar but do eat fruit, maple syrup, madjool dates and some potatoes and starchy veg. Works for me. Lost 2 stone last year and have maintained since Christmas but want to lose more now. I do have cake sometimes but usually paleo friendly cake (ie made with coconut flour or almond flour).
Hope I can join in Smile

Alwaysbeyourself · 03/05/2016 23:02

This way is lowish carb but somedays I do go low carb. Depends upon what I feel like eating.

KP86 · 04/05/2016 07:51

You're very welcome, Always!

Keen to hear some of your daily meal plans.

ihatethecold · 04/05/2016 09:27

Hi Always 🖐🏼

AllwaysBeYouraelf · 04/05/2016 14:36

Hi Grin

AllwaysBeYouraelf · 04/05/2016 14:40

Well yesterday I had

Low carb granola with strawberries and coconut milk

Dinner was chilli oven baked chicken with lemon wedges baked also with a small mixed leave and herb salad and walnut dressing

Strawberries for desert

Lots of water and tea

Two spoons of peanut butter

What did everyone else have? I love other people's menus!!Smile

KP86 · 04/05/2016 14:49

That sounds like a pretty good menu :)

My food for today was/will be:
B: black tea
L: SW chicken saag curry and slim pasta, SF cloudy lemonade. It was sooo much better with the noodles.
Snack: pork scratchings
D: Roast pork, cauli, broc, carrots and zucchini
Snack: SF jelly and cream

About 14g net carbs.

I weight myself this morning, 95.8! Even if it was a one off, it's still my first appearance in the 95s GrinMight have to revise my May goal to be 92kg instead of 95. I was 91kg when I fell pregnant with DS almost 3 years ago, and if I reach 92kg then I'll be more than half way to goal. It's starting to feel achievable.

KP86 · 04/05/2016 14:50

Weighed**, obviously!

AllwaysBeYouraelf · 04/05/2016 15:06

K yay to the weigh in.

Menu sounds good too. Granola and berries for me for breakfast and peanut butter spread on apple slices just now with black fresh coffee
Not sure about dinner yet

seasidesally · 04/05/2016 15:46

KP86 · 04/05/2016 18:23

I want to cheat, cheat, cheat so badly today!

Somebody stop me.

seasidesally · 04/05/2016 18:35

all damn i was hoping you had found the holy LC grail of granola

KP have some iced water/cheescake mix,i really dont know if its that bad to give into your cravings, dosent work for me though,i just binge

i still think often about the apple pie you ate about 5 weeks ago, drives me mad thinking about it still, thats not good is it

ihatethecold · 04/05/2016 19:18

Why do you want to cheat KP?
You've achieved great things recently.

seasidesally · 04/05/2016 19:20

i think once you get to a certain loss you feel like you can loosen the raines a little

totally get where KP is coming from

ihatethecold · 04/05/2016 19:40

So today's food has been
2 slices of toast
1 cup o soup
Small bowl of minced turkey cooked with a tomato (Iranian style) with a very small portion of rice.
It's my first meal for 3 days.
My abdomen now feels like I have period pains. Sad

ihatethecold · 04/05/2016 19:41

I can't even think about eating an egg at the mo.

AllwaysBeYouraelf · 04/05/2016 19:50

Seaside it's paleo low carb and tastes so yummy.

Blitzed mixed nuts then lightly blitz mixed seeds including linseeds. Add some ready made almond flour. Put in a mixing bowl. Add coconut flakes and some melted coconut oil. I add some maple syrup but you can use sweetener of choice or none. Mix and then put on a well greased baking parchment. Bake on low until just starting to brown. Too much and it burns. Leave to go cold which is when it forms clusters. Once cold remove and put in a mason jar. I serve mine with coconut milk or almond milk and strawberries and raspberries. Smile

KP86 · 04/05/2016 20:00

It's ok, I've resisted. But yes, I am just craving something sweet tonight. I think it's partly because I'm tired and partly because I'm a little bit over this way of eating right now! I can't be arsed making bacon and eggs for breakfast and once in a while I just really want pancakes or crumpets or a waffle! I don't have any cheesecake mix made up, might do some tomorrow.

I think long term (once I reach goal) I'm going to do a 5/2 style menu, with 5 days low carb and two days whatever I want. If I know I get that two days per week then hopefully I won't binge and go crazy. My problem at the moment is one/two days here and there I go totally nuts for the sugar - feast or famine - which is what makes me gain the weight. Eating half a cake over a weekend because I know if I don't I won't get anymore is not healthy.

AllwaysBeYouraelf · 04/05/2016 20:00

Me today

Low carb paleo granola with coconut milk strawberries and raspberries

Coffee black ground
Tea
Water

Dinner
Chicken breasts cooked in Italian herbs and coconut oil with mashed swede, carrots , corgette, red onion and mushroom.
One square of Lindt dark chocolate

Spoon of peanut butter

AllwaysBeYouraelf · 04/05/2016 20:02

K what about pancakes made from almond flour and stevia? I use maple syrup myself.

KP86 · 04/05/2016 20:16

Your dinner sounds great!

BTW, forgot to say before, I'm glad you've eaten today ihatethecold (haha, my iPhone predicts your name now). Up and up from here on in.

I've seen carb friendly recipes for pancakes, might have to dig one out on the weekend. I do have coconut flour and almond meal here to use.

I stupidly bought DH some magnums when I went to Iceland this week and that's what I wanted! I've had too much salt today (roast pork for dinner was salted to try to get the crackling to work, plus salty SW ready meal etc) which I think is affecting my cravings. I always used to feel like this - wanting something sweet straight after a salty/ready meal.
