Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

hi,didnt want to read and run

welcome its great to have you on this thread, its great to see how others are doing and getting ideas from others

were a friendly and honest bunch,we have all fallen of the wagon but we get back on it (were only human i guess)

wow 800 cals is very low,how do you feel

id love to be able to use the shakes but the thought makes me gag, great you can use them

busy day today but just wanted to welcome you, keep posting even if you have a cheat,we all have and will but we keep on going

welcome and hope you enjoy and get something out of this thread,i know i do and it's very supportive

have a good day

rainbowrocks · 30/04/2016 11:54

800 is a guideline and some days I do consume more I'm sure as I don't enter everything into my fitness pal.

Feel fine, a little lethargic sometimes but I find I have more get up and go on this than I normally would.

The products contain all the vitamins the body needs so you can do a total food replacement but that's not for me.

The products are actually very nice I have a mixture of porridge, soup, shakes, noodles and bars so I can pick whatever I fancy. Tried a similar diet before that was just shakes not nice ones at that and couldn't stick to it and it was £££ and have to fork out on top for fiber and vitamin supplements.

ihatethecold · 30/04/2016 20:15

Hi Rainbow.
Your calorie intake is very low and I would imagine not very sustainable.
Your food isn't low carb either.
Have you tried to do low carb properly. Say under 20g a day or maybe 50g if youve got a lot of weight to lose.
We are a friendly group on here.
We're just here for support and no judging.
I'm not low carbing right now but will again soon but have enjoyed chatting to the other people on here.

KP86 · 30/04/2016 21:04

Welcome, Rainbow. Sadly, I agree with the others about your intake and carb levels. I have eaten very low amounts of calories to lose weight in the past and it has screwed me over big time. I regained a lot of it and it really is a challenge for me to remain at a stable weight - my default setting is to gain, gain, gain! I honestly believe it's because I was starving my body (even though I didn't feel hungry due to appetite suppressants).

LCHF has worked for me and I eat around 1400 calories per day. It's mostly real food, although I do have LC food and drinks with artificial sweeteners (jelly and SF soft drink). I started on 1500 cal, but after I dropped 10kg I reevaluated my needs (using a calculator on a LC website) and adjusted daily targets.

You are more than welcome to join us for weight loss support. This little group has been great for me, and as the others have said, we don't judge and accept there will be bad days or weeks and that we can always sort it tomorrow.

My food for today:
B/L: omelette with mushrooms, bacon, spinach and cheese
Snack: a small piece of choc smartie cookie (I logged this in MFP, approx 8 carbs in a 15g piece of biscuit!!! Never again.) and a couple of offcuts of smoked salmon while working. I wasn't hungry after my breakfast/drinking coffee and tea throughout the day.
D: Beef rissoles with a slice of mozzarella and bacon, served with steamed broc and iceberg lettuce; SF ginger beer
S: pork scratchings and 30g 80% choc.

Carbs are pretty close to 20 (maybe 19?) because of that damned biscuit. In fact, I changed my food around this evening to cope with the increased carb count. I knew it would be bad but I didn't think it would be approx 60% of the biscuit in carbs!

Activity: fairly busy day at work, 7 hours on my feet/walking around.

I've menu planned for tomorrow and Monday to keep me on track. I know I've got a cheat day coming up in a few weeks, someone is visiting who I haven't seen in almost a year so I'm hoping I'll be able to surprise her by being 15kg lighter :)

DH and I are also going to TTC #2 in the next few months and I want to have a BMI of

KP86 · 30/04/2016 21:14

I got suckered into the Iceland thread on here and was just looking at their SW frozen meals. They are mostly surprisingly low carb, around 2-3% net carbs. Has anyone tried them? I might buy one during the week to have a go.

£3/meal (average 500g) which should feed DH and me, even if I have to add a few more vegies to them.

seasidesally · 30/04/2016 22:10

oh are they that low, will take a look net week

KP86 · 30/04/2016 22:19

Yeah, I was surprised. It's not all of them, the beef ragu, beef/chicken saag, chicken pizzaiola, chicken tikka masala and beef in red wine sauce all seem OK.

It's still up to 15g of carbs per packet, but that would be split between me and DH so that's acceptable in my eyes.

rainbowrocks · 30/04/2016 22:43

I do agree with you all with what your saying. It's not substainable, well it hasn't been for me in the past as instead of working my way back up I go back to normal habits. My portion sizes are huge as I never addressed this problem (lost 4stone with slimming world few years back and was drummed into is eat as much as you want) and I do tend to binge.

I've just looked at the carb content and the max I have is 40g.

Tried in the past to low carb by myself and found unless I'm in ketosis I can't loose I'm a all or nothing person and I've never achieved it by myself.

I have decided I will do this low cal for a max of 12 weeks then will introduce carbs gradually and drop the products for meals.

My stats are 5ft 3 and currently 11stone 3.8 was almost 12 when starting. My goal is 10stone possibly 9 1/2 but need to excersize and gradually introducing that.

Lost 2 stone this time last year and it took a year to go back on, so not as bad as it can be. I did Cambridge in the past and put it back on in a matter of weeks.

I am looking to low carb as a lifestyle choice at the end. Even if it's 2-3 meals a week.

Loosing the weight I can do, keeping it off is a far different story.

seasidesally · 01/05/2016 19:25

its hard isnt it losing and then knowing its creeping back up but dont have the strength at the time to stop it

ive been the same lost then creeped back up the so cross with myself for knowingly let it happen, your not alone

KP86 · 01/05/2016 20:14

What's hardest for me is knowing I probably have to eat like this forever to maintain my weight. As time goes on I am craving more and more carbs. I want to buy a pizza, frozen croissants and lots and lots of cake!

Food for today:
B: scrambled eggs with cream and bacon
L: Covent Garden Thai soup and slim noodles; bite smoked salmon and 1 piece streaky bacon at work.
Snack: pork scratchings
D: large (!!) serve of roast chicken (slow cooked, Greek-style today) with cauli, broc, mushrooms and asparagus. SF ginger beer. I'm quite full so won't be having dessert tonight. I did bring home a slice of yummy cake from work, it's going to be wrapped and put in the freezer even though I really want it!

96.8 this morning, these numbers are what's keeping me going.

KP86 · 02/05/2016 15:44

I bought the SW Chicken Saag today, will give it a go tomorrow night and let you all know what I think.

ihatethecold · 02/05/2016 16:34

Hi guys. I've got norovirus 😷
I have never felt so unwell in my life.
I would have happily left this life at 5am this morning.
Physically can't move. 😪

seasidesally · 02/05/2016 18:03

oh no how awful for you

never had it but it's suppose to be awful

on the bright side big weight loss with it so ive heard (sorry sorry couldnt resist)

how do you know its norovirus??i dont know much about it

im sending you a nice sweet Brew

ihatethecold · 02/05/2016 18:27

I think it's the generic name for gastroenteritis.
I'd rather not lose weight than feel like this.
My Dh is having to take tomorrow of work to look after me

KP86 · 02/05/2016 19:00

ihatethecold, that SUCKS! Big time. I hope you recover quickly.

Food for today:
L: mushroom soup and a spoon of coconut oil
D: bloody amazing Keto version of pasta carbonara. I didn't follow the recipe to the letter (eg. we added leftover chicken from last night) and it was delicious. I used the Slim Pasta which is the same concept as the one the recipe mentions.
www.ruled.me/keto-pumpkin-carbonara/
No dessert or other snacks as I didn't really watch the quantities in the dinner and I suspect it was a lot higher than should have been.

Activity: about an hour of walking with DS this afternoon

Net carbs: 2g

seasidesally · 03/05/2016 12:54

seasidesally · 03/05/2016 13:34

you poor thing, take it easy and hope it soon passes Smile

KP86 · 03/05/2016 14:26

Sally, good work on the loss! Still going in the right direction :)

ihate, glad to hear you are improving (albeit slightly). Might some warm chicken broth be stomachable?

ihatethecold · 03/05/2016 14:49

Warm chicken broth sounds grim!
But thanks 😁

KP86 · 03/05/2016 15:05

Haha, well perhaps not then! Keep up with the biscuits and anything that will stay down.

seasidesally · 03/05/2016 21:14

ive a very full rhubarb bush and am wondering if i could stew it (no sugar added) and have with greek yogurt,im sure its not to carby, anybody tried it ?

KP86 · 03/05/2016 21:39

According to BIWI's boot camp list it seems ok. Can't remember exactly what the carbs were. You could use Natvia (5% carbs) for sweetener.

We had a fairly quiet day today, I even had a nap at the same time as DS!

B: scrambled eggs with cream
L: leftovers from last night
Snack: 30g almonds
D: SW Chicken Saag - it was ok, but probably could have used some cauliflower rice to serve.
Snack: SF jelly and double cream. I'm about to have some Atkins cookies. Feeling the vibe tonight!

Net carbs: 8g

ihate, fingers crossed tomorrow will be a better day for you.

ihatethecold · 03/05/2016 21:46

I've had some toast and feel a lot better thanks.
Just wondering if I should join the boot camp thread.
It's very restricted though.
Not sure if I'd manage it.
