Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

KP86 · 28/04/2016 21:32

I love pork scratchings. But I also love pork crackle, pork fat from chops and bacon rind. Hmmm... I'm starting to see why I'm overweight!!

seasidesally · 28/04/2016 21:50

just had 3 litte gem leaves stuffed with tuna mayo and a few strawberries 14 carb

only had 1065 cals dont feel hungry so pleased with today

KP86 · 29/04/2016 07:16

That's such a good idea, I should have done something similar with my lunch yesterday. We had poached chicken and mayo for sandwiches (not for me) and iceberg lettuce - I could have had roll ups with my soup.

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 10:14

i love little gem,its the only lettuce i buy now,i use them small tins of john west tuna in sunflower oil, just the right size for me and there only £1.30 in home bargains well over £2 in asda

KP86 · 29/04/2016 15:14

I've added some tuna to my shopping for this week.

I realised today that so far I've lost almost the weight of my 2yo son (give or take about 2kg). Whoa!

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 17:34

wow well done, makes it sink in if you have something to compare it to

had a tasty tea, stripped some chicken mixed some mango chutney, curry powder, lime and lemon juice

stir fried and added some celery and courgette and finally some spinach, was very nice

had some cheescake mix with a few strawberries and v,small crumbed biscuit (1/3rd)

as usual a good few coffees and double cream

2oz edam was peckish earlier

total so far 18 carbs 430 cals left

KP86 · 29/04/2016 17:44

The ironic thing is that he is too heavy now for me to carry him very far, but clearly I was lugging around that weight at the start of this year.

Again, your dinner (tea) sounds lovely. We are having cod which I bought from the fish shop today (they had a sign out the front 'use us or lose us' and I felt guilty) and broccoli/cauli bake with cream and chunks of Brie. Maybe some steamed asparagus on the side as well because I'm pretty hungry tonight.

B: bacon and eggs
L: Covent Garden Thai Chicken soup with slim noodles
AT: 30g almonds and pork scratchings
D: as above
S: jelly and cream

Activity: almost 2 hours of walking/shopping this morning. DS fell asleep in the pram (thank goodness for me!) and so we stayed out a bit longer than I would have normally.

I feel like I should be due a bit of a whoosh, allowing for the ups and downs with my cheat days/weeks this month I'm still about the same as the beginning of the month and I want the scales to go down!!

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 19:34

its great hearing what others eat it gives ideas that you dont always think yourself

i know i havent weighted for a week,to scared to as i had 2 evenings of ice cream and chocolate, still havent had pot/rice/ etc but not sure when you have cheated when it shows up

strange isnt it can hardly carry your son but have lost that in weight, our bodys put up with some harsh punishment

ignore if you want but ho long have you been LC and how much have you lost in that time ??

KP86 · 29/04/2016 19:57

I have been LC since mid-Feb and I've lost about 11kg. But if I didn't have to re-lose the weight I gained during my cheat times it would prob be closer to 15/16kg.

I said I would do it for three months and switch to low cal (maybe even try SW) but the more I think about it, I mostly like this way of eating. It's certainly easier on our food budget. Fatty meat is cheaper than lean stuff!

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 20:10

thats great progress, dont think about what if's you have achieved alot

im pretty similar to you started end of february and lost 10kg,though i have many to go

KP86 · 29/04/2016 20:14

I want to lose another 17-20kg, get down to 80 or just under.

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 20:18

spooky the same for me Smile

ihatethecold · 29/04/2016 20:29

You're both doing great.
Well done.

KP86 · 29/04/2016 20:35

I think you mentioned upthread that we are both about the same weight, I started at 108 and you 109 IIRC?

I'm currently 97.5.

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 20:43

i probably did, last weighed 10 days ago 100.1kg (to frightened to weigh myself afer my binge)

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 20:43

thanks ihate how are you doing ?

ihatethecold · 29/04/2016 20:51

I'm good thanks.
Not been LC this week but I've eaten ok.
Got another afternoon tea tomorrow.
There will be cake and cocktails.
I've also got AF for the first time in about 2 years which has been naice!!!
Think I'll buy some pork scratchings next week 😉

seasidesally · 29/04/2016 20:57

afternoon tea sound very nice,enjoy

do you find it difficult to get back into LC if you have some time of ?

KP86 · 29/04/2016 21:21

My favourite pork scratchings have been from Poundland. The brand is called 'Real Pork Crackling Co'. You get 6 packs in a bag.

Well, my actual favourites are Awfully Posh brand at 89p/bag from Waitrose but the packs are 250cal each, so too big for one sitting and expensive!

KP86 · 29/04/2016 21:23

If you are still eating sensibly, then I don't think the LC thing matters toooooo much. It's still cal in vs cal out that will make the difference on the scales. We still need to live and it's hard to celebrate without cake. Mmmmm, cake!

The last 5kg are always the hardest.

ihatethecold · 29/04/2016 21:32

do you find it difficult to get back into LC if you have some time of ?

Yes. That's me to a tee.

KP86 · 30/04/2016 07:16

Yes, I also find it a bit difficult.

rainbowrocks · 30/04/2016 11:11

Hi, I've just found your thread and would love to join.

I'm doing low carb but using 3 meal replacement products and a 400cal meal (simular to Cambridge diet but not as restricted)

I have tried in the past numerous times to low carb but I cannot get myself into ketosis by myself.

I've been on this just over a week and managed to get into ketosis on day 2 Shock

I'm 5"3 and in February weighed in at 11stone 2 lbs. I started low carb and running as I hate running but wanted to do a 4K. I lost a couple of lbs but was mostly staying the same each week.

I've restarted running again yesterday (only 20mins) as I'm only on a 800cal diet and don't want to over do it. I took a extra shake to make up for what I burned off.

It's working already as my first week I lost 4.8lbs. And I'm now weighing in today at 11stone 3.8.

I've tried all the diets out there and found they work first time round but after that I loose 2 gain 1 and it's a disheartening pain.

So I'm back on this, I do it every year and keep gaining it back but I want to push myself this time and not only loose the weight but tone up and hopefully stay that way!
