Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

signing in

been keeping to it up all this week, not weighed myself since last week so will probably be doing that this week

still often have a sweet tooth and am interested in your cheescake mix ??

ihatethecold · 17/04/2016 20:56

It's just double cream, full fat Philly and Splenda.
Well that's what I'm using.
Not sure if there's a better recipe.
I don't have lots of it though.

KP86 · 17/04/2016 20:56

Cheesecake mix is 200-250g cream/soft cheese, 300ml double cream, tsp vanilla, 2-3 tsp Natvia or similar granulated sweetener (optional) and juice of 1/2 lemon beaten until fluffy and at stiff whipped cream consistency. Eat by itself or with a few berries.

It's not exactly low-cal but it is very yummy and a 1/2 cup serving is enough (even though I could eat a whole batch in one go without much effort).

seasidesally · 17/04/2016 21:24

ok thanks, might indulge this week with a few strawberries

seasidesally · 18/04/2016 11:22

weighed in lost another 3lbs last week very surprised as i had what i thought was a few slip ups

total weight loss 7 wks approx 1stone 7lb

bought the cheescake mix will make some later

KP86 · 18/04/2016 11:46

Woot woot! That's fantastic Sally! Onwards and upwards Grin

At the end of the day it's still calories in vs calories out, so if you are running to a deficit then you should still lose weight.

I went to the gym this morning for the first time in a month. Now to keep it up... aiming for three times per week and hopefully I'll start to feel a bit fitter and be able to increase time/speed. Today I did 15 mins treadmill and 15 mins bike. Enough incline/resistance for both to make me red and sweaty. I also walked for 90-odd minutes down to the shops, running errands and back.

seasidesally · 18/04/2016 14:16

wow thats a very active morning, well done you

do you eat before or after if exercising ??

my activity will mostly be laying paving slabs and shovelling gravel a couple of days this week

seasidesally · 18/04/2016 14:42

do you mind me asking what do you have as a calorie target each day

mine is 1300

KP86 · 18/04/2016 14:50

My target is 1400 cal, which is what was recommended by the ruled.me site.

I had breakfast (coffee, spoon of coconut oil from the jar and a packet of pork scratchings) beforehand and then lunch (baked chicken breast, mushrooms and a babybel) when I got home.

ihatethecold · 18/04/2016 15:48

I thought when you LC 'd you don't need to count calories?

KP86 · 18/04/2016 15:55

You don't have to.

But I still do because it helps me to keep track of my intake. I'm a sneaky eater (bits and pieces off DS's plate, while cooking etc) so this helps keep me accountable.

As I said earlier today, no matter what diet or eating plan you follow, weight loss is still calories in vs calories out.

As an example, I don't trust myself to not eat a whole batch of cheesecake mix just because it tastes good. I have prior form for eating until almost exploding just because I want something. So this way I can be more conscious of what's going into my mouth.

KP86 · 18/04/2016 19:36

Evening, everyone.

Food for today:
B: black coffee, spoon of coconut oil, pork scratchings
L: 260g baked chicken breast, 1 babybel cheese and mushrooms
Snack: Spoon cheesecake, pork scratchings, spoon of coconut oil, can Pepsi Max
D: Salmon and asparagus with butter
S: SF jelly, double cream

Activity: About 90 mins of walking going into town and back, running errands; 45 minutes at the gym

Net carbs: 6g

Scales are below 100 again today, exactly 99kg. I'm pleased about that.

ihatethecold · 18/04/2016 21:13

I would be so hungry on what you've eaten today KP.

I've had
B. A 3 egg omelette

L. Half a tin of tuna and mayo with 2 sausages
choc digestive

D. Roast chicken with leeks, courgettes, broccoli and 2 small discs of sweet potato.
2 tablespoons of LC cheesecake mix.

KP86 · 18/04/2016 21:46

Haha, I look at yours and think I would be hungry!

I do have quite a lot of vegies, eg. 150g of mushrooms with lunch and dinner was 200g of asparagus.

I did sneak 30g of 80% choc before bed. Mmmm!

seasidesally · 19/04/2016 19:53

thanks for the cheescake recipe

ive made it without the sugar replacement and have pretty much had a proper cheescake

i used 1/3 of a Fox's crunch cream about 3 carbs and bashed it with a rolling pin and sprinkled it over the top,it goes a long way and is just like the base, then added a few sliced strawberries, its just like the real thing

i didnt add any sugar and as i normally keep my carbs 20< so i can have a few extra

KP86 · 19/04/2016 20:37

Sally, that's a good idea to crush a bit of real biscuit on the top on a low carb day. Yum!

Today's food:
Breakfast: Black coffee and large spoon of coconut oil. Might stop doing that though because it's making my skin really oily!
Lunch: 3 egg frittata with mushrooms, bacon and spinach. No cheese because DH used the last and forgot to tell me. Grrr!
Snack: 2 spoons cheesecake and SF ginger beer
Dinner: 2 Ocado beef rissoles (quite tasty for shop bought, and low carb), some zucchini noodles stirfried and then mixed with a tomato and cheese pesto (also yummy) and 1/4 roasted cauli. It was very filling, too. After the last few days of still being hungry after dinner and having a snack straight away I was expecting the same tonight. Maybe my appetite is finally readjusting again.
Snack: Will have some SF jelly and double cream shortly.

Activity: None :S I was thinking about going to the gym when DH got home from work but I just didn't feel motivated enough.

Net carbs = 14g

Hope everyone else is feeling the LC vibes. We can do it!

seasidesally · 19/04/2016 20:51

the crunch of the biscuit really made a differrence and the 2 mega large strawberries were so sweet,it was just like a cheescake, ive got three servings out of one biscuit so pretty good

seasidesally · 20/04/2016 15:47

huge workout today moved approx 100ft distance of 400kg of shingle and then emptied and layed it all out all on me own,i ache so much but ive surely burnt a few calories Grin

KP86 · 20/04/2016 15:57

Oh my goodness, that's a huge amount of work! You will be sore for a few days, I imagine. And of course you burnt a lot of cal, I would suggest at least 450/hour of work.

seasidesally · 20/04/2016 16:03

oh thats gonna boost my activity level then

prawn with mayo /advocado for tea,the advocado is perfectly ripe, not that that happens often

KP86 · 20/04/2016 20:25

Today's food:
B: scrambled eggs with double cream, coffee
L: 2 packs pork scratchings
S: SF jelly
D: Huge pork chop, broccoli, cauli, mushrooms and asparagus.
S: Large serve of cheesecake mix, BUT... I couldn't finish it!!! I felt like indulging this evening (long, long day with DS) but after about half I really didn't want it anymore. I'm pretty pleased about it. Meant my calories didn't blow out too much, and net carbs for the day is around 10-11.

Activity: Took DS to a local attraction, spent about an hour chasing him around. Otherwise, not much.

KP86 · 21/04/2016 08:55

I did a ketostix test this morning, I'm definitely in ketosis according to the result (although I know the science behind them is not exactly reliable for ketogenic diets).

I also weighed and I'm back down to 97.? kg. I forget the grams, but almost back to my lowest since before the trip. Seems I've managed to re-kick start like at the beginning of the diet. Pretty pleased.

I'm in that middle ground with clothes... some stuff is miles too big but the smaller items that I've bought still don't quite fit. Probably 4-5kg off the next size down. I started at a 20, am comfortably in an 18 now (some too big) and pretty close to a 16 in tops. I have a large bum and legs so pants are still well and truly 18! Quite a way before I will go down in size there.

seasidesally · 21/04/2016 09:30

well done KP thats amazing to get back to that weight so quick

you are doing something right and its working well

ihatethecold · 21/04/2016 14:51
