Slimming World to Harcombe?

FourArms · 02/12/2013 11:30

I've been doing SW since 29/8. Initially on EE and now mainly on red days.

However although I've lost 1lb short of 2
stone I haven't lost any weight this week and I've stuck to the plan with the exception of maybe not enough syns / HEB.

Have seen the Harcombe diet and this seems to be more like what I'm doing at the moment although I'll have to swap coffee and skimmed milk for herbal tea and stop my 10 a day satsuma habit ;)

Just wondered what people's losses had been in phase 1 switching from SW? My BMI is still in the low 30s so I've got plenty to lose!

Yes I would roast/bake it, then cut up and add to the soup.

kazzawazzawoo · 25/04/2014 19:16

How did you get on with the soup?

B- bacon and eggs
L- HM chicken soup and salad
D- chicken curry and celeriac chips
5 mugs decaf, a mug of hot lemon water so far

4 days without chocolate, but I'm craving it!

Doshusallie · 25/04/2014 20:02

Soup looks good, haven't actually tried any yet!

B- 2 boiled eggs
L- big salad with tuna, nly with sunflower seeds

Pkt of hog bites

Have fallen into red wine and nuts this evening. Halo has slipped but will be adjusted tomorrow.

Had lost 2 pounds at weigh in this morning.

kazzawazzawoo · 25/04/2014 20:49

I didn't weigh myself at the beginning, but I will measure myself Sunday morning.

Doshusallie · 25/04/2014 22:20

Soup was nice, a bit watery though. I'll eat it.

kazzawazzawoo · 25/04/2014 22:59

Put more veg in next time Smile It's different every time I make it. But it does need lots of veg.

Doshusallie · 26/04/2014 17:09

I have added broccoli and it is much better. Grin

2 boiled eggs for brekkie, berrocca, decaf tea
Soup for lunch with nly and seeds

Pkt hog bites

Tea is going to be steak and salad.

RosinaCopper · 26/04/2014 18:45

Hello Kazza and Dosh, here's my weigh in day for my second attempt!

26/04/14 restart weight 148.5

Today I have had
B: 2 x half caff cappucinos made with skimmed milk (I know it's not allowed on phase 1, but not ready to give that up yet!)
L: Ham salad
D: Cauliflower muffins, leeks in butter, parsnips and roasted brussels sprouts with bacon
Bad stuff - some of the dcs skinny fries.

The cauliflower muffins are also a bit cheat-y as they have got some ground almond and a bit of grated mozzarella in, but I am way down on the amount of carbs I would like to have eaten today!

Just a thought, Dosh, when I was pregnant and fancied a drink, I would make myself a super weak spritzer, with sparkling water plus a teeny splash of wine which was preferable to plain water. I expect I'll do the same tonight once the dcs are in bed (I'd prefer a large glass of prosecco, but never mind!)

Doshusallie · 26/04/2014 18:54

Good idea Rosina.

I am flat out drinking tonight, gin though. Food wise have been fine today, and have decided I can abstain on booze Sunday tonthursday but I like a drink Friday and Saturday night.....

[i have a splash of skinny milk in my decaf teas]

kazzawazzawoo · 26/04/2014 18:59

Hi Rosina Smile Hi Dosh Smile

Cauliflower muffins sound interesting, could we have the recipe?

Day 5 of phase one for me and another good day, although I was struggling this afternoon and made myself a second fry up!

B- bacon and eggs
L- roasted chicken quarter
S- bacon and eggs
D- chilli con carne with mashed swede
6 mugs of black decaf

RosinaCopper · 27/04/2014 15:08

Wow Kazza, I hope you get a good weight loss from your 5 strict days! I'm having a bad day today, so aim to be very strict for Monday to Friday which I'm hoping will be easier as we'll be back into our school routine.

The cauliflower muffin recipe (I can't get my head round calling them biscuits, but I suppose the Americans would call our biscuits cookies?) was from the Delighted Momma blog, but I can't get the pictures to work for some reason, so I'll link to

Just Jessie B instead as she uses the same basic recipe but adds in bacon and Jalapenos.

I used
half a head of cauliflower
1/4 cup of ground almond
1/4 cup mozarella
1 egg
and softened the cauliflower in olive and coconut oil.

I used the 1/4 cup measure to make the cake shapes as I agree with Jessie B that the Delighted Momma ones stuck in the muffin pan really badly( I made them last week), so it was easier to pile the mixture onto a baking tray (they still stuck, though, I might use baking paper or a non stick sheet next time I make them). Sorry, but I have no idea what the equivalent weights are, but I bought a set of cups from Tesco a few years back because I needed them for a NZ cook book I'd been given.

I wanted to give these a try because when I tried the cauliflower pizza base it was a bit too soggy and eggy for me, but these are delicious IMO.

kazzawazzawoo · 27/04/2014 15:48

Thanks Rosina, I'll give them a try later this week after I've been shopping.

I haven't weighed myself, because I get very hung up about any fluctuations that naturally occur and tend to give up. So these days I just measure sometimes and go by how my clothes fit. Friday I was able to comfortably wear some work trousers I haven't worn for years, so I'm happy about that. I measured myself and I've lost another half inch off my waist. Smile

Today I had

B- onion tomato and feta omelette
L- Salad with roast chicken leg
D- will be spicy chicken in egg wraps with salad and sour cream.

Doshusallie · 27/04/2014 17:42

Hi guys!

Am just tidying up the last of the red wine and then that will be it till Friday.

Had bacon, eggs and mushrooms for breakfast
Chicken and veg soup a la kazza for lunch with a bowl of nly and seeds

Tea will be lamb chops and veg

Have drunk decaf coffee, decaf tea and water.

kazzawazzawoo · 27/04/2014 18:08

Dosh, you are so very good, tidying up the red wine Wink

Doshusallie · 27/04/2014 18:27

Yes kazza, i thought so, nice and neat and everything in it's place. :-)

I had a major temptation for an oat and raisin cookie in cafe Nero this afternoon, which is most unlike me, but I resisted.

kazzawazzawoo · 27/04/2014 20:17

Well done Smile

I keep getting cravings for chocolate and sweets, am resisting so far. Today I've been reading Zoe Harcombe's ebook, Olive Oil Can Tap Dance. Very interesting reading, have a look for it if you've got a kindle. I think it was either free or very cheap.

Doshusallie · 27/04/2014 20:26

Oh great thanks kaz will look for it now.

Doshusallie · 28/04/2014 20:08

Evening.

B- 3 hard boiled eggs
L- chicken and veg soup, Greek yoghurt with seeds
T- salmon fillets, carrots, leeks, courgettes, mushrooms, butter.

Do you think you can have too much veg??

kazzawazzawoo · 28/04/2014 20:18

Well, there are carbs in veg, so you probably can have too many with a fat meal.

B- tomato, onion and feta omelette
L- chicken and veg soup, salad, a little tuna mayo
D-cottage pie made with swede, leeks
4 black decaf coffees, 2 mugs of water with lemon

kazzawazzawoo · 28/04/2014 20:20

Sorry, meant to say, the veg would only be too carby if you had carrots and parsnips all the time. I think green veg are ok.

Doshusallie · 28/04/2014 20:50

Yes iswym, carrots would be the only prob there then, and only had a few of those....

kazzawazzawoo · 28/04/2014 20:59

But tbh I eat a lot of swede and that must be carby tooSad But my ibs means there are a lot of veg I can't eat. Mainly green veg like broccoli, cabbage sprouts.

Doshusallie · 28/04/2014 21:20

Isn't it ironic that people who eat a Mars bar a day don't seem to worry about their weight and yet here we are worrying we will gain if we eat too many VEGETABLES fgs......

kazzawazzawoo · 28/04/2014 21:48

Indeed!

kazzawazzawoo · 30/04/2014 12:08

Yesterday I had left over cottage pie with swede for breakfast, salad for lunch and roast chicken with parsnips and leeks for dinner.
