Well done everyone who completed the Summer Bootcamp!

here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you want to continue adding to it

Obviously there are many of us who want to continue, either to lose more weight or just for general support to help with this WOE, so here is a brand new, shiny chat thread.

As for me, having slipped a lot a little when I was away, I'm firmly back on the wagon today.

And can I remind you, that if you haven't completed the survey we would be very grateful for your views/thoughts on how we can improve Bootcamp.

Cheese when I get fed up of plain water I make up a pitcher of iced tea and keep it in the fridge. Each tea pouch makes half a gallon of iced tea so it's enough to keep you going for a while. I snack on 10 or 20 salted almonds (count them out and nibble each one or you'll eat loads), olives (stone in so they take longer to eat), Peperamis, Babybels and pork scratchings. I also try to cook extra so I have chicken drumsticks or salmon fillets in the fridge.

I will look for that almond butter thanks Beryl, what do you eat it with?

B: raspberries and blackcurrants from the garden with Lidl Greek yoghurt
L: cheeseburger (without the bun but with a tiny bit of relish) and salad
D: barbecued lamb, chicken (brown meat only), sausages, courgette, mushrooms and orange pepper

Everything I've eaten today has been delicious. I'm hoping to have lost a stone over six weeks by Monday, only three-quarters of a pound to go.

ChippingInHopHopHop · 27/07/2013 20:31

I think Beryl eats it with a spoon!! Grin I think it would probably be nice on celery?!

Vin - yes, lots of lc'ers have Total yog & cream... personally it seems to stall me (both together & individually). Lucky you if it doesn't :)

ChippingInHopHopHop · 27/07/2013 20:33

StuntNun - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

LilyAmaryllis · 27/07/2013 20:55

Crabby I'm glad you're carrying on. That all sounded like completely delicious food, hard to describe as a disaster really. And you are closer to target weight than some me

Chipping nice to hear from you, when the technology allows...

Cherrypi there was 0% fat Total yogurt in our house last week, I noticed it is only 4% carbs. So, if you have some cream you could mix in, perhaps that would take its fat content up to "acceptable"?

Cherrypi · 27/07/2013 22:33

Ah genius Lily. Thanks will do that.

BerylStreep · 27/07/2013 22:41

Chipping, yes, with a spoon is the only way to go! But I had about 3 teaspoons and that was my lunch.

Eglute · 28/07/2013 10:31

Good morning girls! :)

Hello to newbie :)

Ah busy weekend for me. I started refurbishing my kitchen while kids are away on holiday for 4 weeks. House is a mess and I cannot cook at home too..
I'm not feeling hungry at all!! Yeah!!!
Yesterday
B Boursin with coffee
L few slices of chorizo with cucumber and tomatoe
D I went out for dinner last night for the first time since I started lc. And it is amazing how you can eat out without depriving yourself. I had huge medium rear sirloin steak only replaced chips with green salad without dressing. It came with a little bit of coleslaw and a slice of grilled red pepper. I had cheese selection for desert, it came with celery and relish but i also replaces relish with cucumber and didn't touch grapes even though it felt very tempting :). I looked like a picky customer yesterday :). And sparkling water instead of wine. I'm very proud of myself.

It is a week today since I started lc so I weighted and measured myself. 4lbs and few inches lost!!! Hooray!! Even tho I eat quite a but of cheese it didn't do a lot of harm to me. I will try to cut down on it next week.

Have a good weekend girls and do not fall off the wagon. It is very rewarding not to :) xxx

Eglute · 28/07/2013 10:33

Sorry for spelling mistakes. Ipad is not the best when you want to post longer message :))

hurricanewyn · 28/07/2013 13:09

Hi all,

Been MIA for a few days, but still plugging away -

The other day I made some mince and fried it in mexican spices, served in lettuce as a wrap with sour cream & grated cheese.

Yesterday I made homemade scotch eggs to snack on for a couple of days but ended up eating them all Blush - didn't bother with dinner after that.

Today, I made BLT wraps with the lettuce as a wrap again. For dinner, I'm having meatballs from the leftover pork mince from the scotch eggs with some sort of creamy sauce as the double cream is about to go off. Any ideas of what sort of sauce? I was thinking maybe mushroomy something??

I still haven't weighted yet (too embarrassed still Blush ) but I definitely feel less bloaty & my IBS hasn't been so bad at all.

Hope everyone is having a great day Smile

Cherrypi · 28/07/2013 13:51

Attempting cauliflower soufflé from the pig to twig diet book for lunch. Any ideas on how long it will take to cook?

beeeze · 28/07/2013 14:02

About 15 - 20 mins should do it.

BeenieBaby · 28/07/2013 14:42

My jeans are now too loose!! Grin

BIWI · 28/07/2013 14:50
Grin

Ah yes, I should have warned you. This WOE can be expensive, what with all those new clothes you're going to need!

I went swimming today for the first time in years ages. Hopefully that'll have used up some of my fat stores ready for weigh-in tomorrow.

B: bacon and mushrooms
L: beef salad with homemade dressing
S: Peperami
D: pork chop with braised celery and courgettes fried in butter

Vinividivino · 28/07/2013 18:28

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Iam so happy, I fitted in to trousers that I haven't worn for nearly 3 years since before I had DC1( have 2 now)! OK, they were a bit tight and sitting down was a nerve wracking experience but still amazing! Went to my Mum's who said 'wow - you've lost your baby tummy!' Not quite true but I loved her for saying it! A good day.

Food-wise I let my guard down a bit and snacked a lot.

B-scrambled egg, bacon and fried mushrooms

S- 3 miniature cheeses (eek raided my toddler's snack box!)

L - cold beef, avocado, green beans and two tomatoes. Skipped my Mum's summer pudding and just had berries with yoghurt

But
Evening snacks +D - 2 slices of smoked cheddar, 8 pieces of ricotta wrapped in bacon snacks, a pkt of pork crackling (why? I hate the stuff!), 3/4 of a tub of guacamole with celery and 3 spoonfuls of extra thick double cream. All of these are quite low carb on their own but together...? And the processedness of it all? Yuk. I am expecting the scales to spank me tomorrow morning. Sad

Vinividivino · 28/07/2013 18:33

Eglute - well done on navigating the restaurant! That's my next big challenge, esp as my DH's favorite is Pizza Express!

Hurricane - love the BLT idea, that is lunch tomorrow sorted - thanks!

yegodsandlittlefishes · 28/07/2013 21:48

I need to book myself in here to help shift a few pounds. Will be away on holiday, having meals out and not the usual shopping routines. Although meals out can be problematic, at least it is a chance to order your own food and not eat the same as the rest of the family. Probably won't get to track my weight, but can track some of the exercise on my phone app and keep to some sensible low carbing.

Hope everyone else on here is getting some success - well done on the baggy jeans! Grin

yegodsandlittlefishes · 28/07/2013 22:06

When we het back home, might go and get some chickens as they are great ay eating up leftover toast, pasta and rice, and they give eggs instead. Wonderful!

NewStartNewStory · 28/07/2013 22:39

Today there has been coke and chocolate. it was vile. utterly utterly vile. But I passed out mid training session and scared the shit out of everyone with stupid low blood pressure. Blush Think i might be a bit anaemic again which sometimes happens. It is not the woe. although i did get told to eat carbs before training, Hmm err no thanks. Not drunk anywhere near enough water today though. which probably also explains the passing out thing. Ah well tomo is another day and i shall be back on track. loads of people are starting to notice the weight loss so that is real nice.

major congratulations to all who are have too big trouser issues!

Eglute · 29/07/2013 07:10

Good morning ladies,

I hope everybody were happy seeing low numbers on bathroom scales this morning, huh? :)

newstart - sorry to hear about passing out. Oh dear. I realised lack of water makes me feel like passing out too. So make so make sure you drink a lot.

I'm struggling with food. I don't know what to eat.. I do not feel like meat of fish and keep snacking on cheese..
If I only have coffee with milk for breakfast would it be ok? I'm not hungry.
Also I cannot used my hob or cooker this week. Any ideas for meals in microwave please? I feel like I need hot food..
Thank you..

One more week in boot camp to go. I cannot wait to have strawberries and cream for breakfast :)

dollywould · 29/07/2013 13:23

May I join you, ladies? I've been lurking for a while and tried to do what I thought was low-carbing and, um, ended up putting on 4lb Blush. I'm putting my gain down to my belief that a big bag of nuts and seeds and a box of dates would be good snacks for when I was working crazy hours last week - and thinking that hunger was a sign I was losing weight.

I also think my portion sizes might be out of whack: for breakfast today I had 60g smoked salmon, half an avocado and some scrambled eggs. Lunch 100g feta, black olives, the other half of the avocado and a cos lettuce. Is that about right, would you say or am I being a bit too good to myself?

I have read the bootcamp rules and wonder if I do have to limit my portion sizes? And am I right in thinking that I should be eating fatty cuts of meat?

I'd really like to have lost some weight by the start of the new school term (I don't know what's a realistic target on this WOE in the next five week - I guess we all have different metabolisms and rates of loss). But I do think I now have to throw myself on the mercy of this thread and ask where I'm going wrong (And also say thank you to you all - your stories have really inspired me to give bootcamp a proper shot and delurk! BIWI, you are amazing to have set this up!)

Just off to eye up the Boursin in the fridge...

Eglute · 29/07/2013 15:20

double snickers a packet of crisps and coffee with sugar.. I have done it automatically.. entered the shop and I couldn't help mysef.. I dont know what happened to me :(( And I ate everything outside the shop :( I feel like crying now!

i never had sugar in my coffee tho :((((

QueenQueenie · 29/07/2013 15:33

Don't be too hard on yourself Eglute... It's a blip not a catastrophe. Chin up!

StuntNun · 29/07/2013 15:44

Eglute I had some carb cravings when I first started but the day before my period I ate a packet of Refreshers sweets! I couldn't stop myself I was like a sugar junkie!

Dolly I think of it as low carb, high fat, high water. Only eat nuts and seeds in small quantities, i.e. tip a few into the palm of your hand. Dates are right out I'm afraid, they're full of sugar. I use fatty meat, olive oil salad dressing, fry or roast vegetables in butter or olive oil or add melted butter to boiled, steamed or microwaved veg.

You need the high fat to maintain satiety and keep your calorie intake up. You can't get enough calories from salad. The low carb stops you storing glycogen and releasing insulin so you'll burn fat. The high fat makes you feel full so you eat less than your 2000 calories a day and your body uses your fat stores instead. But you don't want to eat too few calories either because then your metabolism will slow down and you won't lose weight. When you're low carbing your body produces ketones as an energy source for your brain and muscles but you need to drink lots of water to flush these out of your system otherwise there's a feedback effect and your ketone production will drop.

So long as you follow the rules you don't need to count calories or carbs.

Common problems are:
Not eating enough fat
Not drinking enough water
Eating too many nuts or berries
Eating too much dairy

LilyAmaryllis · 29/07/2013 17:34

Eglute don't think about it, put it behind you and get straight back on that wagon! (and drink lots of water!)

Did you eat enough for lunch? - just thinking about ways for you to withstand the temptations in the future.
