Well done everyone who completed the Summer Bootcamp!

here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you want to continue adding to it

Obviously there are many of us who want to continue, either to lose more weight or just for general support to help with this WOE, so here is a brand new, shiny chat thread.

As for me, having slipped a lot a little when I was away, I'm firmly back on the wagon today.

And can I remind you, that if you haven't completed the survey we would be very grateful for your views/thoughts on how we can improve Bootcamp.

BIWI thank you for all the info you throw here and answers to all our questions :)

I just had whole packet of Babybels.. OMG I hope I didn?t ruin everything by doing that.

I do drink a lot and I add extra salt to my meals, I hope that is ok..

BIWI · 26/07/2013 08:46

You should be feeling better very soon, Eglute. One thing though - just keep an eye on the amount of dairy. A lot of people have found that dairy can impede weight loss.

And you are very welcome! Smile

By the way I know artificial sweeteners is a no-no, but I found taking 'zero' electrolyte replacement drinks a big help. It doesn't have sugar and isn't overly sweet. Mixed with some sparkling water and kept cold in the fridge, it keeps me going!

StuntNun · 26/07/2013 10:02

I ran out of breakfast foods today so had to have strawberries and cream. Love this WOE!

Mouseface · 26/07/2013 10:53

I have fallen arse over tit off the wagon due to dreadful planning and a terrible toddler, lack of sleep and a massive increase in my pain levels.

We're having a night away for our WedAnn on Monday night but are having to take Nemo with us as we have no respite carer and no family nearby to help out, and even if we did, none of them are trained to administer his feeds or manage his tubes etc.

Sorry to waffle on, Blush you guys are all doing great. Smile

It was DHs Birthday yesterday and such a shit day, felt like I had made no effort to cook something nice for him. no cake, no fizz, nothing Sad

DD is making him cupcakes today whilst he's out with the dog.

Today I managed a couple of pork sausages for breakfast and a pint of water so far. I have some strawberries that need eating and cream too, so that's lunch, eggs in and mushrooms and green peppers, so that's dinner - I'm thinking omelette?

I need to stock up on snacky foods, I need to get my head out of my arse and I need some help with this toddler!

Sorry to dump and run, but I need a shower and have to take Nemo in with me, a have a brief window for a shower now so better get on with it.

Sorry.

Mouseface - Brew have a break.. you sound a bit low.. :(

Eglute · 26/07/2013 13:19

I had a lot of water and salty smoked salmon salad with mayo and oil, some olives and I feel much better :) What a relief.. This carb flu can be a bit too much to handle sometimes..

Mouseface · 26/07/2013 13:21

You know when everything just builds up and up and up and your DH/P/W or whatever then gets fed up because you're fed up or vice-versa? That's the Mouse house currently.

DD is going to make chocolate butterfly cupcakes for DH when he takes the dog out in a mo but I have to hobble to the shop the get what we need.....

Upstairs needs cleaning, downstairs too.....

DH has just gone out so I better go help DD make him these b/day cakes, bless her.

Thanks for being so kind Eglute :) xx

Be back later xx

Oh dear, we have friends staying with us and we went out for dinner last night. I had a tiny sliver of Melba toast which i justified because i needed something to eat the olive tapanade. Boy am i paying for it today. Stomach cramps, (tmi) explosive bowels, just awful.

On the plus side, the meal was lovely. I had steak ad cabbage for the main course and resisted dessert.

QueenQueenie · 26/07/2013 14:25

Hi fellow low carbers. reporting in to say how thrilled I am to have found this WOE and this and the other low carb threads on here. It's so helpful to read and learn from others and to feel less alone if things aren't going so well.
I have lost 15lb since 24th June. I haven't been hungry, I haven't had carb cravings and apart from a couple of days of carb flu hell I feel good. I am so pleased. I still have a lot to lose but it feels possible in a way that it didn't a month ago.
Happy weekends everyone.

Mouseface · 26/07/2013 15:16

Beryl - you did well to resist dessert :)

I think for me, it's getting over the first few weeks of no carbs and going through the changes that my body's going to go through....

I need to either do this or not. I vote yes to doing it, it's just telling myself that I can and putting things into action before starting.

I need to get my GGGRRRRRR on! Grin

:)

Mouseface · 26/07/2013 15:53

I've just come across this in my emails ABOUT SUGAR ALTERNATIVES

Makes for an interesting read unless you LOVE Diet Coke and hate the fully loaded stuff! Grin

BeenieBaby · 26/07/2013 17:18

The bit I really struggle with is when dc ask for toast n then don't finish it, and it just says 'eat me'!!! I suspect that'll be my downfall one day...

WillieWaggledagger · 26/07/2013 17:53

Beenie you are not a receptacle for your children's cold carby leftovers. If you are going to eat toast at some point in the future you will go for the best flavour you can so it will be hot and freshly made just for you. And you will taste every mouthful and eat it in a mindful way. (And you will probably find it's less delicious than you remember Grin)

WillieWaggledagger · 26/07/2013 17:55

That said I do sympathise - if I go for a morning run and come home to dp cooking toast I practically keel over!

BIWI · 26/07/2013 18:11

There's something about the smell of toast, isn't there?!

OP posts:
BeenieBaby · 26/07/2013 18:25

willie I think that's going to be my mantra from now on... 'Im not a receptacle for my children's cold carby leftovers' :)
Pre LC I made my own bread but even store bought stuff is looking appealing these days.... By the way, once on bootcamp light, are flaxseed or similar recipes allowed?

StuntNun · 26/07/2013 20:04

I don't even like toast but the smell is divine. LC fail, I ordered an Indian takeaway and my prawn dish tasted really sugary and only had one piece of green pepper in. I fished all the prawns out and left most of the sauce but I couldn't believe how sweet it tasted.

B: strawberries and cream
S: two chicken legs
L: steak salad - nom
D: sugary and bright pink 'prawn punjabi'

I got my exam results today and passed them both so there may be some champagne later to celebrate, so long as I can get the baby to sleep for the night.

QueenQueenie · 26/07/2013 21:37

well done stunt! what are you studying?
eating out / takeaways are a minefield... I've ben doing really well, went out to local vietnamse restaurant tonight: hot and sour prawn soup - fine (lft pineapple bits), "quick fried beef cubes on a bed of salad" sounded good - it was drenched in a dressing so sweet it was like pudding. Boo. Did my best but it was very frustrating.

smokinaces · 26/07/2013 21:54

Can I pose a question to all you wonderful long term low carbers?

I am following low carb - a mix of VLCD packs (breakfast and snack) and then two meals of meat/veg or meat/salad. I am losing around 1-2lb a week, dont eat carbs but struggled with the breakfasts, hence the vlcd version of shakes or porridge.

I've been on this around 6 weeks and lost 14lb. So am happy, as am back at what I was from bootcamp last summer.

Anyhoo, I have night out planned tomorrow evening and want to drink a few G&Ts. Only a few, not plastered as I have plans Sunday, but what should I eat to be safe. I dont know if I'm in ketosis, as I think my losses would be higher etc (and no smelly breath here!) but dont want to cause myself to be ill.

What should I be eating? Should I eat some carbs tonight, tomorrow am and lunch to be sure?

Thank you muchly :-)

Eglute · 26/07/2013 21:59

B whole packet of babybel
L smoked salmon with spinach cucumber and mayo
D fried eggs with chorizo, mushrooms, spring onions and spinach. I had 2 tomatoes and cucumber with it as well

I felt this carb flue today. A lot of water really helped but first time in 5 days I felt carb craving. I saw all those chocolates in tesco and I felt like eating all of them at once! And I don't even like chocolate that much. So I bought chorizo and tomatoes and ran to my car and ate a few slices. That made me feel better.

I blame carb flu for mood swings as well as snacking. I wasn't snacking since I started this woe but today I had olives.. And a lot of water..

Good night x

StuntNun · 26/07/2013 22:18

Queen I have just finished a degree in maths and statistics that I started in 2005 so I'm feeling very happy with myself. Much champagne was drunk in the Stunt household, even DS1 and DS2 got a tiny bit mixed with Schloer to make a spritzer that they didn't drink anyway!

QueenQueenie · 26/07/2013 22:49

wow. well done!

prettybird · 26/07/2013 22:53

Smokinaces: I know BIWI will shave her big stick at you and tell you that you're not having enough fat. This WoE is not low calorie. If you're having enough fat and protein you shouldn't feel hungry after carb flu if you get it in the first few days

prettybird · 26/07/2013 22:56

Not "low calorie per se " - once your body is ketogenically adapted, your appetite will decrease automatically.
