Well done everyone who completed the Summer Bootcamp!

here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you want to continue adding to it

Obviously there are many of us who want to continue, either to lose more weight or just for general support to help with this WOE, so here is a brand new, shiny chat thread.

As for me, having slipped a lot a little when I was away, I'm firmly back on the wagon today.

And can I remind you, that if you haven't completed the survey we would be very grateful for your views/thoughts on how we can improve Bootcamp.

Hmm I posted earlier but it's not appeared so will post again.

Yesterday was the 18 year anniversary of meeting DH so we had a celebratory take away, went for chicken balti but then gave in to rice and poppadom urges followed by a small liqueur.

However, onwards and upwards. Back on track today. For breakfast I had bacon and eggs, for lunch cold chicken, egg mayo and salad and for dinner chilli con carne without beans with cauliflower mash. Snack of pork scratchings (bought done Awfully Posh pork scratchings, they are amazing!)

NewStartNewStory · 22/07/2013 18:47

Crabby unfortunately the circumstances are rather identifying so it is very hard to talk about it online and maintain privacy. I have been seeking rl advice and council today. The diet as a result hasn't been stuck to but there is getting to be a potential way forward. Hopefully sleep tonight will help. the stress has caused the pain levels beyond bareable today and sleep failed me last night which didn't help. One day at a time to change the future. eventually it will be the one I want.

CorrieDale · 22/07/2013 19:28

Still on the exercise/fatigue thing: How long did it take you all to hit the wall and break through it? I haven't had carb flu at all but not being able to exercise efficiently was not part of my weight loss plan!

Eglute · 22/07/2013 20:26

Hi everybody,

I have completed my second day of low carb woe. So far so good. I'm feeling happy and not hungry at all. I thought maybe I'm doing something wrong as its too good to be true.
I haven't counted carbs today but I probably should start doing so. Although I find it very frustrating ( counting kcal, carbs, points etc)

Could somebody please tell me if my meals are correct and ok

B fried egg with bacon and asparagus + a bit of mayo
L rocket salad with 100g of feta and 4 tomatoes with olive oil and avocado/garlic/yogurt dip
D chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella ( just a tiny bit of it) and homemade coleslaw. ( almost no carrots and onions. Mainly white cabbage with vinegar, oil and mayo)

Tell me I will lose weigh if I carry on eating like that and I'm in heaven

Thank you

LilyAmaryllis · 22/07/2013 20:34

Thanks for the M&S bra tip New. Hope you make progress in resolving the problem at hand.

Musttidyup I would DEFINITELY go for the tummy tuck. It doesn't sound like you can do much through physio etc, and it would surely do wonders for being content and happy. Your dad doesn't need to know/have an opinion! Anyway, what would he say, "no dear daughter I think you should continue to carry round the evidence of your child-bearing etc however much you hate it"? Admittedly I know nothing about the operation or whether there are any risks or implications.

Today has turned out, probably, a bit carby by accident:

B - scrambled egg, lettuce & cucumber, salad dressing (that's fine)
L - tomato soup and cheese (hmmm tomato soup probably on the slightly carby side but needed eating up.)
D - tuna mayo salad (that's OK)
S - strawberries, raspberries and 0% fat Total Greek Yogurt! WHAT! DH had bought the wrong one. It says its 4% carbs which isn't terrible. But presumably it not having any fat won't be triggering this WOE to work today.

Now I'm thinking BIWI will be along saying well you should have just not eaten it. oops.

StuntNun · 22/07/2013 20:46

B: five strawberries and Greek yoghurt
L: Mathesons smoked sausage (no carbs apparently) and courgettes fried in butter
S: about 15 salted almonds
D: haggis with sweet potato mash (only one between two of us) and swede mash

I have a tummy ache after dinner so I might have some more yoghurt to try and settle my stomach.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/07/2013 20:50

Eglute looks fine - just make sure you are drinking plenty of water too!

B: bacon, eggs and mushrooms fried in butter
L: scallops fried in butter on shredded lettuce
D: sausages, lettuce, cucumber, coleslaw
S: salmon appetiser things...
Water: 6 pints so far... more to go!

QueenQueenie · 22/07/2013 21:16

Still going strong here...

B: Greek yoghurt / few raspberries
L: 3 cold black farmer sausages / celery / cucumber / salad leaves
D: Spatchcock chicken in spicy marinade (suspect contained some sugar Sad / avacado / tomato salad
S: olives. iced coffee Hmm

Tell me that's no too bad.
Also have rather fallen into this low carb business as only way in the past I've lost weight was by cutting out bread / pasta / rice / potatoes. But I haven't done the full bootcamp business before moving on to some fruit / nuts / dairy. I have definitely lost weight so is that a problem??

QueenQueenie · 22/07/2013 21:17

Oh and so much water that I'm suprised I'm not leaking!

Eglute · 22/07/2013 21:38

MrsHerculePoirot - thanks. I'm drinking a lot of water :)

BeenieBaby · 22/07/2013 21:57

Day 2 here too. Carb cravings are certainly less. I med cupcakes with the dc and didn't even fancy tasting them! I am getting through a fair amount of mayo though- had a fried egg with some fried spinach and mayo, smoked salmon salad (and a snack of olives and more salad), and paneer vegetable kebabs (more veg than paneer really and using waitrose tikka marinade which was 4.7g/100g but I only had a spoonful)

CrabbyBigBottom · 22/07/2013 22:01

Hope things get easier for you New.

Well I had an epic food fail this evening. We had leftover lamb curry with spiced cauliflower and spinach, and as I started cooking it, I just thought 'fuck it' and sent DP up to the takeaway to get me a peshwari naan. Shock I don't know what came over me! It was nice but felt quite stodgy and afterwards I felt quite bloated.

So food today...
B/L - spicy lamb burger with a few tomatoes and a bit of salad. And a little mustard which is quite carby.
D - as above.
No booze, several cups of tea, loads of water as usual.

Feeling on a more even keel emotionally today. Got a call from the accident investigation team this morning to go over my witness statement again, and she told me that the lad was in surgery for 12 hours yesterday. 12 hours!! Shock He broke both arms, his leg and his pelvis. Christ motorcyclists are so vulnerable, especially if they're not wearing full leathers. I always cringe when I see people on motorbikes wearing jeans and t-shirts, but even more so now. Sad

Eglute · 22/07/2013 22:01

BeenieBaby we started on the same day :)

Best of luck to you :)

I didn't crave for any carbs as well :)

Cherrypi · 22/07/2013 22:19

Wow this is much trickier when you are tired. Note to self don't drink a cup of tea at 11pm and expect to sleep before 3am. Have had major sugar cravings today for the first time since I started. Ate a third of a granola flapjack thing and half a custard cream.

LilyAmaryllis · 22/07/2013 22:52

Wow Crabby that poor lad.

mmmm curry. I really enjoyed last Friday's takeaway curry and also the fact that leftovers made it into two subsequent meals. Including breakfast the next day. Who was asking what to have for breakfast instead of eggs? I recommend leftover curry!

QueenQueenie · 22/07/2013 23:22

when you have takeaway curry what do you order? what are best low carb bets?

CrabbyBigBottom · 22/07/2013 23:31

I know Lily, but at least he survived to tell the tale, and not from a wheelchair (although I expect he'll be in one for a while).

I love leftover curry for breakfast. There's a little bit left, still, for me to have for my lunch tomorrow in the remainder of the naan.

CrabbyBigBottom · 22/07/2013 23:32

Queen I make our curries, as then I know exactly what's in them. I guess you'd have to be careful of sauces as they do often add sugar in Indian cooking.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/07/2013 00:47

Dinner was pan-fried chicken, purple sprouting broccoli and garlic butter spinach, mmm. I was starving on Ubercamp today, though - had breakfast at 5.45, lunch at 12 and dinner at 7. No snacks allowed on Ubercamp, and I think the gaps between meals were just too long. I cheated slightly by having bigger portions than the recipes decreed. My portion sizes must be enormous usually, though, and I know I snack too much, so this is good. Tomorrow I have the morning off before DD's hospital appt, so I will have breakfast much later after I've gone back to bed for a bit.

WillieWaggledagger · 23/07/2013 07:36

corrie it could be up to 2-3 weeks before you feel normal exercising again. if you're not training for a particular event, i would just go with it and accept you may not be able to push yourself as much in that time, because it is worth it in the end

queen i usually have lamb shashlik with saag paneer, saag bhaji or bhindi bhaji. indian takeaway is relatively ok for low carbing (compared to say chinese) if you stick to tandoori and other dry-cooked dishes. some of the sauces can be sugary as crabby says, and they often include huge quantities of onions which can make them quite carby (that's what often causes the bloating after a curry, along with the rice and naan obviously!), so best to avoid them

WillieWaggledagger · 23/07/2013 07:42

crabby my dad was a surgeon working in trauma for many years, and several times we witnessed motorcycle accidents and dad stopped to help (as was his duty). one time the motorcyclist said 'am i going to die?' dad said 'yes, but not today!'

i'm always very nervous when i'm driving near a motorbike because they can slip into your blind spots very easily - it's a huge relief when they overtake and i know where they are!

CorrieDale · 23/07/2013 08:04

Thanks wiggle. Once I've got this grading out of the way tomorrow evening I'll just go with the flow. Until then I'll cross my fingers and hope the adrenaline carries me through!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/07/2013 08:20

Cherrypi, I am slightly stunned by the fact that you ate half a custard cream and a third of a flapjack. The restraint! Why didn't you eat the rest of them?

Cherrypi · 23/07/2013 09:23

Ah well toddler ate the rest of the flapjack and I'm not a big fan of custard creams. (Not that that's stopped me eating an entire packet in the past). Another sleepless night last night. Toddler feeding loads and the storm kept me up. Yawn.

Eglute · 23/07/2013 09:28

Good morning after a stormy night! Not many of us slept well, huh?

Just wanted to ask if anybody could recomend good carb counting app? Thanks
