Well done everyone who completed the Summer Bootcamp!

here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you want to continue adding to it

Obviously there are many of us who want to continue, either to lose more weight or just for general support to help with this WOE, so here is a brand new, shiny chat thread.

As for me, having slipped a lot a little when I was away, I'm firmly back on the wagon today.

And can I remind you, that if you haven't completed the survey we would be very grateful for your views/thoughts on how we can improve Bootcamp.

OP posts:

TooExtra not really - I'm always guzzling coffee! And Pretty I'm a bit worried about the carbs in sugar free anything... I have been told sugar-free chewing gum also works but again there is something in there that might set me back! I think I will try a warm bath next.....

Can I just say, I haven't read much of the thread, but please everyone consider taking Electrolytes in this weather and with the intake of water that we are consuming...... or at least some LoSalt. Smile

NigellasGuest · 21/07/2013 18:27

here is some info and if this link is not suitable I'm sure BIWI will let me know!

LilyAmaryllis · 21/07/2013 19:15

Nigella my god a combination of iron and low carbing... both high risk for constipation. If its been a week I would take a laxative, no question whatsoever. Get it moving! And increase the fat, increase the water.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 21/07/2013 19:50

Just had roast pork with crackling, mashed buttery swede and braised fennel as per the Ubercamp recipe. Yum! Yum yum! Never had fennel before and I quite like it. Love the mashed swede. Mmm.

Yama · 21/07/2013 19:53

Hello from Helsinki! Dh putting dc to bed so I'm relaxing, cough, planning tomorrow's activities. Finnish people are just lovely by the way.

StuntNun · 21/07/2013 20:00

Cheddar I didn't realise swede was low carb! Excellent, that'll give me something to have with this haggis souvenir of our Scotland holiday!

B: five strawberries and Greek yoghurt
S: Peperami
L: two chicken legs left over from yesterday's barbecue - they were burnt so a bit yuck
D: roast duck (lots of skin - yum) with salad. DH put apple in the salad but I only had four small slices. He also put a spoon of sugar in the dressing the idiot and I found it very sweet even though there was only a spoon of sugar divided between five of us.

We were going to have courgette crisps but they were completely incinerated by the end of the cooking time in the recipe. We may have another go tonight once the kids are in bed. The recipe uses courgettes, ground almonds and Parmesan but most importantly no egg! Grin

captainmummy · 21/07/2013 20:06

Constipation? try physalis husks. I think they come in a powder form, you mix them wth (more) water.

prettybird · 21/07/2013 20:06

I believe half a bag of sugar free toffee (and you need to force that much down! Hmm) doesn't get the chance to be absorbed. Wink

Never needed to try tried it myself though wonder why?! Wink

daisychicken · 21/07/2013 20:15

Nigella - I suffer dust to the meds I take as well as low carb'ing - I have prescribed lactulose. When I took liquid iron (ages ago) I suffered terribly with constipation and was prescribed lactulose at the same time and was warned by my GP beforehand so I don't think its uncommon.. could your GP not prescribe some for you since you need to take iron?

daisychicken · 21/07/2013 20:15

Due not dust.... blasted Fibro brain(!!)

Eglute · 21/07/2013 20:27

Is there a list of food we are allowed/ not allowed to eat?

I cannot believe how full I feel all day. I have only started today and already loving this woe!

Please tell me if my meals were correct today..
B boiled egg and teaspoon of mayo
L fried chicken breast with mushrooms and broccoli in double cream sauce
D asparagus wrapped in bacon with yogurt/avocado/ garlic dip

timidviper · 21/07/2013 20:34

Nigella I once ate 6 sugar free fruit chew sweets and the world fell out of my bottom!

BeenieBaby · 21/07/2013 21:34

I'm still having carb withdrawal :( and was feeling irritable and light headed and hungry all morning. Finally gave in and had a few nuts and seeds after lunch and I feel so much better! By the way, for those that are still having chocolate, which chocolate do you take? The highest choc content I found was Lindt 90%. Is there one higher? Or with fewer carbs?

StuntNun · 21/07/2013 21:45

Beenie I have some 100% chocolate but it's not for the faint hearted. It has no sugar and it's very bitter but a few grams is enough so one bar lasts for ages. It's the chocolate equivalent of espresso, it's a bit too intense for me so I'll get 90% next time. I find anything below 75% is too moreish and I'll eat a lot, whereas with the higher percentages I just have enough to satisfy that chocolate desire.

Negroni · 21/07/2013 21:50

Nigella- for terrible constipation after having dd2 I took fybogel, basically they are sachets that contain the husk that captain mentions a few posts back but put in easy to make portions with artificial orange taste. Can buy it in boots or other chemists. Works in a couple of days or sooner. Used the husks in natural form after having dd1 but found the sachets easier.

Just checking into thread to say am back on strict bootcamp again tomorrow so happy to join all of you back on it. Friday and Saturday involved some off plan eating but back on plan today apart from some nuts at friends that tasted a bit sweet and 1.5 glasses red wine

Have lots to say but most importantly 1. Crabby that incident sounds awful and am in awe of your quick thinking.

  1. Chipping, am slightly nervous of writing this but I honestly think that your rate of weight loss is very good and would be hard to find any WOE that could consistently give a big loss every month. That month of no loss is very irritating though. I also think that 38 pounds since Jan is excellent, even if you would have wanted more.
CrabbyBigBottom · 21/07/2013 22:57

Negroni thank you. Have been feeling very anxious and wobbly all day today, especially when driving. I'm sure it'll pass but I'm feeling a bit fragile at the mo. Combination of the shock of seeing it happen and then the stress of moving him and thinking i'd caused the poor kid to be potentially paralysed, I think. All's well that ends well, anyway, and I'm sure I'll be ok in a couple of days.

Food today,
B/L - yoghurt 'icecream'. Couldn't face much food today.
S - few mouthfuls of almond butter
S - manchego cheese and tomatoes
D - roast beef with broccoli, celeriac and one bit of roast potato, horseradish, gravy.
P - mixed berries with clotted cream
Wine, loads water.

StuntNun · 21/07/2013 23:06

The courgette chips were very disappointing. I'm gutted.

Negroni · 21/07/2013 23:26

Have you tried celeriac as crisps or chips, Stunt? They are not disappointing.

LilyAmaryllis · 21/07/2013 23:45

mmmm manchego! yum.

Houston we have a problem. I've just realised my bras are now too big. This is going to be expensive! And what if this new size is only temporary? could be even more expensive.

I will be digging around in my drawers to see if I kept any smaller sizes from before!

Of course, actually I am thinking WOW this is really working! Hooray!

(But also, 4 bras from Bravissimo is goodbye to £100.)

Secondsop · 22/07/2013 00:11

lilyamarilis I was just about to post with the opposite issue - I swear my boobs are getting fuller! It could of course just be my period which should be over in a day or so, but before low carbing I never noticed fluctuations in breast size for my period.

I had a bad day today (arguments with DH about various things) and so nearly ordered rice with my takeaway curry but pulled myself back from the brink.

milliemoomay · 22/07/2013 00:18

Hi all. Marking my place - want to do a super strict week as I'm off on hols after that - to Italy (the land of carbs)

Any suggestions for food choices for this week will be much appreciated. I've sts for 2 weeks so I'm a bit fed up - meh!

NewStartNewStory · 22/07/2013 00:24

Lily - i have just got some good stop gap bras from M&S and i am not joking. Normally would have to be bravissimo kinda thing. But I know how to fit mine so just upset the woman who insisted on wanting to fit me by being as stubborn as I could. 3 bras for around £40. they will stop gap me for now and are actually really comfy, and not truly hideous.

Life has been incredibly hard here the last few days and today i will admit to saying that the woe could rot in hell and ate pizza and ice cream. Ice cream was essential, it came with a long conversation with a good friend to pull me away from a edge/in the middle of the disaster decision that would be regretted later. I will deal with what ever weight punishments come as a result and I intend to be back on plan tomo but earlier I had to do what was right in the circumstances. And for me doing this then back on track is going to be the only way forward as a wol. I like the woe but just sometimes i need to go out eat ice cream and have thing put in perspective so that there is a moving forwards rather then an ending of things. There is a special kinda of hell for parents of SN kids.

ElizabethHornswoggle · 22/07/2013 00:45

Hi, can I join? Got lots of weight to lose (3 stone) and want to try the low carb diet as I know I feel a million times better when I don't eat things like bread, which tends to bloat me up.
Has anyone got any ideas what I can have for breakfast though, as I can't eat eggs (allergic.)

StuntNun · 22/07/2013 03:09

I can't get celeriac Negroni which is a shame as it makes a lovely mash.

Lily I'm doing mine up on the tightest hooks and they're still loose. Cheapie stopgaps will be required here as well but I've gone from a JJ cup to a G cup so hopefully it will be easier to get something that fits okay.

Sounds like you needed the ice cream NewStart. My DS1 has SN as well and I know how much of a struggle and a worry it can be at times. Don't let it derail you though, enjoy the treat and move on.

Elizabeth I eat full fat Greek yoghurt with a few strawberries sliced in most days. Other egg-free breakfasts are fried mushrooms, bacon and mushrooms, or leftovers. When I started the WOE I would have had a few almonds or olives as a snack mid-morning if I was still hungry but the snacking dies down as you get into the swing of things.

WillieWaggledagger · 22/07/2013 07:02

Quick drive-by post as have just arrived at work and have only been able to skim-read

Crabby you bloody awesome person you, hope you're feeling ok, don't underestimate effect of shock evn if you don't feel it consciously

Elizabeth - there are some breakfast ideas in the spreadsheet, I can't remember which tab sorry!

Re constipation, I found I had to reduce the dosage of a magnesium supplement I was taking as it was making me go too frequently, so that might help if you are really constipated (need to go but can't) rather than just going less frequently
