Come and fill in the spreadsheet

Only two weeks to go before we finish this challenge. Time to drop a few more pounds!

But go easy with those strawberries ...

I'm happy with the food I'm eating, and it's all good oils, avocados, cheese etc. it just looked scarily high! I've lost 5lb this week, which is pretty good considering I've only got 12 to lose Grin

BIWI · 25/06/2013 20:14

Well I think that's your answer, Bill! Grin

Kotinka's link (I hope!):

this better explains why I'm watching fat intake based on my circumstances

I can remember a few years ago reading about somebody having an epiphany about low fat foods: walking down the aisles and aisles of "low fat" and "diet" foods in America in amongst all the obese Americans and realising the two were connected.

I didn't know then about Boot Camp - but it did make me think twice about the diet versions of anything and would choose the "real" alternative if I could.

StuntNun · 25/06/2013 20:30

My appetite has definitely decreased today, I only had a small breakfast then didn't get lunch till after 1. Before I would have required a second breakfast or lunch at 11.

B: strawberries and Greek yoghurt
L: small salad with a little bit of ham and lots of olive oil
S: one leftover sausage
D: cod cooked in butter and double cream

black was it you that posted about the SmashTheFat man and his experiment? He ate 5000 calories a day, but very low carb for 21 days. Over that time he lost 3 cm from his stomach and only put on 1.3 kg. The 'calorie formula' suggests he should put on just under 6 kg. Link here

He does, but he has worked out all complicated equations about how many calories he needs based on that and still it puts him in excess by quite a lot of what he 'needs' according to calorie formula lovers! I think the exercise was all done regularly before though, so the only thing that he did change was to massively increase his calorie content for those three weeks. Tbh I have no idea really if his calculations are correct mind you!!!

Not sure, but it only contributes 10% of his overall intake so maybe it is all about the proportions? Would be interesting to see someone who does less exercise do something similar with say under 30g of carbs... I am not volunteering mind you!!!

jenifairy84 · 25/06/2013 21:12

hello, how do i join the boot camp? and also where are the rules for me to read please?
thank you x

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/06/2013 21:14

welcome jenifairy84 and everyone is welcome here! The rules, plus loads of other useful information is all on the spreadsheet that is linked to in the OP, click along the tabs at the bottom to get betwen the sheets.

Any questions - ask away!

For those of you watching fat intake as well as carbs - how much fat do you consume? Im trying to get a handle on how this all works and have no idea how much fat I should be aiming for?

MamaBear - you should be eating food in the following proportions - fat:protein:carbohydrate

Around 60% fat is good to aim for I believe. (I'll check that out)

Welcome jenifairy!

I'm sorry about your Dad Chipping. Your posts are making me a bit weepy!

NewStart I think you are doing brilliantly. It feels like you need to give yourself a bit of a break too, be more forgiving to yourself, look after yourself... but I bet that's the hardest thing.

I had a long-planned slight cheat today at a work lunch event. Though it wasn't too drastic - eating things like nut roast and stuffed vine leaves - but I didn't eat potatoes, bread, or chocolate brownies! Still undoubtedly it was carbier than would be ideal. Had a Greek salad at the train station on the way home and since then have snacked on greek yoghurt&cream, probably a bad idea if there are carbs in my system!

BIWI · 25/06/2013 22:14

Yep - a quick Google would suggest that anything up to 75% fat is good.

OP posts:
LilyAmaryllis · 25/06/2013 22:17

Chipping just a thought about you being a non-egg-eating vegetarian - presumably there is protein in yoghurt? (and milk/cream).

Hi all, I'm just coming up from air after a 3 day weekend of 3 birthday parties.. one of which was a big one! I feel a bit like Goldilocks. Tried to stay good for the 1st party but by the time it got to no. 3, my resolve weakened and scoffed all the cake porridge.

I'm home now and will weigh myself tomorrow. Fingers crossed it isn't too meh!

Haven't caught up with the thread yet - will do by tomorrow. Well done to all of us for getting as far as this.

milliemoomay · 25/06/2013 23:24

*for air!!

KatyaStarkey · 25/06/2013 23:50

I only just started doing low-carb again last week, but can I still get on this list? I'd love to participate!

Cheers,
Kat
