Morning all.

Come and fill in the spreadsheet

Only two weeks to go before we finish this challenge. Time to drop a few more pounds!

But go easy with those strawberries ...

dosh i want to 'like' your post Grin

StuntNun · 27/06/2013 14:58

Curried celeriac chips?! PrettyBird you rock. That will be great for a Friday night treat. It was hilarious in the greengrocer, the girl behind the counter clearly had no clue what this strange lumpy vegetable was. While I was standing there with a big grin on my face saying, I've been looking for these for a fortnight!

Trousers are definitely looser, I have to keep hoiking them up

prettybird · 27/06/2013 15:05

I think the recipe is on the Übercamp sheet on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. From memory, cut the celeriac in to chips, parboil them briefly (1-2 minutes - although I've seen someone suggest not parboiling them), tossing in a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and some curry powder (and some sea salt) and then roasting at c. 190-200C for c.20 minutes.

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/06/2013 15:31

I one of those who don't parboil - I would add cut them slightly bigger than you want as I found mine shrunk and when too small just looked sad and wrinkly... I did mine with paprika instead of curry powder as well and then dipped them in mayo.

BerylStreep · 27/06/2013 15:42

Blackaffronted - thank you. I might try that tonight.

prettybird · 27/06/2013 15:42

I agree about doing the chips nice and big - a bit like gastropub chips. :)

Haven't had a chance to try it without the parboil yet.

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/06/2013 15:47

Does anyone know about carb counts in broad beans? And are they lower if double podded?

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 27/06/2013 16:18

MrsHP - I somehow missed your posts earlier in the thread?! Thank you for the hugs & thoughts x I'm glad something I said helped you stay on the wagon! Congratulations on getting to the weight you wanted!! Grin Try Sainsbury's online for veg carb count!

Shineybaubles - you can do it :) If this diet-adverse-non-egg-eating-vegetarian can do it, anyone can!! I don't always have breakfast, but when I do, 9/10 I have an avocado with some Food Doctor savory seeds - very tasty. I used to have a large chunk of cheddar cheese chopped up with it as well, but I can't decide if dairy makes me stall or not - so I'm not at the moment. I did have to laugh at your version of low carb though - digestive biscuits?? Grin

Bulletproof coffee - Meh. I had one this morning with 2tsp of coconut oil and 2 tsp of unsalted butter - it was drinkable, but not 'nice', then later I had another with 2tsp of coconut oil and cream, which was also 'ok' but not 'nice'. What am I meant to be gaining out of adding coconut oil?? Also, I have a headache - I haven't had one in months - could it be the coconut oil??

shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 16:41

The rest was carb free Chipping Grin.
Not entirely sure I can give them up.

BIWI · 27/06/2013 16:54

shiny - the rest of it wasn't carb-free! You were, I recall, eating some salad/veg, both of which have carbs in them. And this is where you should be getting your carbs from.

In your two digestive biscuits, there are 18.8g carbs! That's a whopping amount for something that really won't be filling you up. (Atkins Induction, the first stage of his low carb plan, only allows you 20g carbs per day!)

Sadly, if you want to lose the amount of weight that you do, as quickly as possible, then you will have to knock the biscuits on the head.

I know BIWI. You are right. But I still like themSmile.

shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 16:59

But I am going to try.

BIWI · 27/06/2013 17:01

You're allowed to still like them! You just can't have them ... Grin

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 27/06/2013 17:03
Grin

I like them too - but I'd rather have a kitkat.

How much would you like to lose Shiny?

shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 17:04

Right I better start researching some breakfast alternatives then.

shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 17:04

Loads, Chipping about 30 kilos.

BIWI · 27/06/2013 17:05

13.3g carbs in a 2-finger KitKat!

shiny for breakfast, try to treat it just like any other meal. I usually have eggs, because I like them - but sometimes have leftovers from dinner the night before. Or a continental-type breakfast of sliced meats and cheese.

OP posts:
BIWI · 27/06/2013 17:06

.... and once you're in the swing of things, you don't have to eat breakfast if you're not hungry. But don't start doing this until you've done two weeks of low carbing/Bootcamp - you need to make sure that your blood sugar levels are properly stabilised and that you have switched your body from carb-burning to fat-burning

OP posts:
BIWI · 27/06/2013 17:07

This site might give you some breakfast inspiration!

OP posts:
BIWI · 27/06/2013 17:10

Actually, I should have looked at all those recipes before I posted the link! They're nearly all egg-based. Some talk about toast, and others about potatoes - so pretty rubbish on the low carb front really! Will do a bit more research.

OP posts:
shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 17:11

Thanks BIWI that's kind of you, I am ok with omlette type egg things but would still prefer not to eat them every day.

Bacon and mushrooms is a good combination, or (low carb) sausages and tomatoes - The Black Farmer sausages are lovely. High meat content and very low in carbs.

If you look at the recipe thread here the asparagus fritatta recipe is good, and you could use other veg instead of asparagus.

OP posts:
shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 17:20

How many carbs should I be looking at per sausage?

shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 17:23

Yup like pate.
