Morning all.

Come and fill in the spreadsheet

Only two weeks to go before we finish this challenge. Time to drop a few more pounds!

But go easy with those strawberries ...

As low as possible! The Black Farmer are 1g carb per 100g which is very low - each sausage weighs 67g, so will be less than 1g carb.

Ok have some in the fridge will go and check them, thanks.

shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 18:11

Guess I won't be eating them they are 12g per 100g, that's quite a lot.

StuntNun · 27/06/2013 18:20

Just one question... how do you peel a celeriac without slicing a finger?

Ruprekt · 27/06/2013 18:23

Breakfasts this week now I have changed my mindset.......

Duck and broccoli stirfry SmileSmileSmile

Bulletproof coffees

Salmon on stirfried cabbage

Yoghurt with blueberries

Made made prawn and egg stir fried cauliflower rice for dinner. It was brilliantly delicious. SmileSmileSmile

shinybaubles · 27/06/2013 18:24

Love the sound of duck and broccoli stir fry - but not sure about breakfast.

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/06/2013 18:38

Breakfast ideas that are a bit breakfasty in the traditional sense:
breakfast muffins/frittatas (egg based, but filled with other stuff so they don't taste so 'eggy' if you get my drift)
eggs - fried, poached, scrambled boiled
omlettes
low carb sausages - we always have the black farmer ones as I think they are the lowest carb
bacon
mushrooms
avocado mashed up
greek yoghurt with a bit of vanilla powder/cinnamon/plain

Or as others have said anything really. Other things I have at times had for breakfast are cheese, meats, leftovers, pork scratchings or olives (often a random combination of above depending on what is in my fridge and how hungry I am!)

BIWI · 27/06/2013 18:39

StuntNun - I use a big knife and just slice down the sides - don't try and peel it elegantly!

OP posts:
MrsHerculePoirot · 27/06/2013 18:44

I use a vegetable peeler, one of the ones that is like a y shape with the cutting bit across the top, rather than the ones that are like a bullet shape!

BerylStreep · 27/06/2013 18:53

BlackAffronted I have just had celeriac fondant and braised cabbage with roast chicken thighs for dinner.

It was absolutely divine. Honestly, it is possibly the best thing I have ever tasted!

BerylStreep · 27/06/2013 18:57

I peel it with a knife - set it on a chopping board and slice down the ways.

daisychicken · 27/06/2013 19:01

Just logging in... have sts again but... but....(!) I've lost my hunger pangs so I must be doing something right!!

WillieWaggledagger · 27/06/2013 19:21

There are some breakfast ideas on one of the tabs in the spreadsheet too

loopyloou · 27/06/2013 19:21

I buy Debbie & Andrews 97% pork sausages. Not sure of carb content though, will look it up.

loopyloou · 27/06/2013 19:26

Kotinka what pâté do you buy? A lot seem to have wheat or other nasties in them Hmm

Does anyone have a good recipe for pâté?

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/06/2013 19:38

loopy those ones are 2.7 per sausage. I have done my sausage research before!!!

BerylStreep · 27/06/2013 19:42

I make my own pate.

Fry a couple of chicken livers (you buy them in little tubs of 2 in the freezer section in Sainsburys), along with about 4 sliced shallots in about 50g of butter. Once they are cooked, throw in a tiny bit of whatever alcohol you fancy to the pan - brandy or port would be quite good, although you could also do whiskey. Cointreau etc although nice, are probably too sugary.

Blitz the whole lot in a blender to whatever consistency you like. Pour into little containers (the tub the livers came in is quite handy).

When I am being fancy, I dot a few fresh cranberries or red currants into the top, then pour a thin layer of melted ghee over the top.

Pop in the fridge to set.

Has anyone tried Heck sausages?

I don't think they do Black Farmer sausages in NI. Nor do they do the Lidl ones that everyone raves about.

BerylStreep · 27/06/2013 19:50

Kotinka, it would be fine for about 4 days in the fridge, although I suppose it depends how cold your fridge is (mine is ice cold, so things tend to last for ages).

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 27/06/2013 19:53

BIWI - I want a Thick & Chunky KitKat - not one of those pathetic 2 finger things. Probably more carbs in one of those than I eat in 3 days!! Grin Don't worry though - what I want and what I'm going to have are two different things!

Shiny - I've lost 16kg since the end of Jan - but I need to loads more. 30 doesn't sound too bad to me Grin

TOMATOES - on a past thread people were treating tomatoes like the work of the devil - are you all eating them now??

You lucky lot - I can't find vegetarian sausages less than 3g per sausage (cauldron) and most of them are MUCH higher.

BerylStreep · 27/06/2013 19:54

I forgot to add that frying a bay leaf in the butter beforehand, along with some black pepper gives the butter a lovely flavour, and you can then use the bay leaf for decoration on top. Preserved lemons are also quite nice to decorate.

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 27/06/2013 19:55

You can freeze home made pate as well.

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/06/2013 20:07

chipping these are 4.4g for two sausages so only 2.2g each (but perhaps the sausages are smaller?)
