Right chaps, while BIWI is drinking prosecco in sunny Italy away being busy and important, I'm your supply teacher for the next couple of days. BIWI has given me temporary responsibility for the Big Stick, so no messing about at the back there!

Well done on getting to week five, it's not easy and despite the fab support on here you've done this yourself, so remember how far you've come.

Please record your weight on the spreadsheet and marvel at your progress!

Temptations will come along, especially over bank holidays and half term treats, but remember that you're doing this for yourself, so be kind to yourself by not giving in to the temptation from things that do you harm and risk derailing you, as every time you look after yourself in this way it get easier. If you have a wobble, post on here - we'll remind you of all the tasty things you can have instead and why.

Have a lovely week!

Ladies, I have been lurking daily but haven't posted. Since beginning if bootcamp I have lost 8 lb which is great. I am breast feeding my 10 month old around 10 times per day and she is pretty big baby. I started using myfitnesspal just to check on my intake and I realise that I actually eat too many carbs. I then got sidetracked and ate fruits, I ate too many apricots, mangos, peaches and plums, I am basically o. The pat to self destruction. I even ate rice today. I didn't even want it but I still did. Now I am sitting here feeling really bloated and sick.

Can not hose of you on Mfp p,ease add me and help me be on track. Oh And looks like I am eating too few calories these days 900-1000 daiy. Help... My name is same as here.

warzonemummy · 30/05/2013 20:24

Sorry for typos typing with one finger as I rock nod feed baby

Ruprekt · 30/05/2013 20:32

Lovely food again today. SmileSmileSmile

B scram egg with butter and cream, fried mushrooms

L cheese slices

D Salmon steak with creamed mushrooms and spinach

4 pints of water.....slosh slosh
Peppermint tea

captainmummy · 30/05/2013 20:35

Warzone - bit confused! Are you trying to bootcamp? Have you read the rules?

warzonemummy · 30/05/2013 20:38

I have been but side tracked big time :(

captainmummy · 30/05/2013 20:38

Not felt well today, headachey and queasy - bit like carb-flu except i've been LCing since June last year!

Breakfast 2 scrambled egggs, butter
Lunch - bit of lettuce, mayo, slices of chorizo that needed eating up.
Then made Jewish Penicillin (chicken soup) but it hasn't helped yet!

Dinner - not hungry. Have snacked on 'picky' things all day, Lidl yog, brazil nuts, cheese, coffee with cream. Think I'll jsut get an early night.

captainmummy · 30/05/2013 20:42

Warzone - reaquaint yourself with the Rules (on the spreadsheet) and when you feel ready - jump in!

BTW lots of us don't bother with MFP, the red 'warnings' on fat and calories are too off-putting! We don't count calories, it is not necessary. You should be getting plenty of calories from fat and protein - and this will keep you full up.

Stop eating fruit and rice, they will bloat you and make your bloodsugar crash.

Doshusallie · 30/05/2013 21:40

Brekkie was 2 hard boiled eggs
Lunch was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon
Snacks pork scratchings
Tea was 3 celery sticks, with cheddar, ham, and mayo

Yama · 30/05/2013 22:26

Thanks for saying so Ecuse. It's the portion sizes though. When you are eating such nice food, it's very easy to eat more of it. Grin

CrabbyBigBottom · 30/05/2013 22:48

Beryl... "It's official, no matter what you do with an almond, it will always be 6.5g carb/100g."

What on earth have waitrose been doing with their toasted ones then (10.5g)? Coating them in bloody sugar? I think I'll keep away from nuts for now, it's too confusing! Glad you found your cat, it's horrible when you think something might have happened to them.

I was in the supermarket today and DD was in the car with the dog. She came in and found me, pale and red eyed, crying, saying "mum I'm sorry"... I thought she'd let the dog out of the car by mistake and she'd been hit by a car. Myc heart went through the floor. It wasn't that, thankfully; DD was resting her feet on the dashboard, pushed too hard and cracked the bloody windscreen. Hmm Inconvenient and bloody expensive but still, no blood spilled.

B - smoked salmon in creme fraiche
L - some gouda cheese with little tomatoes (3.1g carbs per 100)
D - smoked mackeral with celeriac mash and roasted broccoli
S - total greek yoghurt with double cream and vanilla

mermaidspurse · 31/05/2013 08:51

I'm on the move down again, so just posting to say hang in there anyone who has got a bit stuck.
The only thing I have cut back on is my afternoon coffee hit.

I have also noticed that hunger pangs have faded away and I don't need to snack like I initially did.

A massive Flowers to biwi and willie and everyone for posting and sweeping me along with you. I never thought I would be able to lose weight and in such an enjoyable way.
Bumbles off to pilates with a big grin plastered on my face.

snowballinashoebox · 31/05/2013 08:54

duh! epic name change fail, mermaid changes back into a snowball!

BigStickBIWI · 31/05/2013 08:58
Flowers

Well done!

I ventured onto the scales this morning, to see that my Italian escapades have added 2lbs to me. Hopefully those will have gone by Monday ...

Ruprekt · 31/05/2013 09:12

Am now 175 lbs......please add me to spreadsheet Willie.

2 lbs down. SmileSmile

BigStickBIWI · 31/05/2013 09:13

That's where those 2lbs came from ...

Crabby, most glass breakages can be fixed for free under your insurance and it doesn't affect your no claims. Might be worth checking out?

bulletwithbutterflywings · 31/05/2013 09:42

Back in the game this am. 2 eggs scrambled with butter and a bulletproof coffee to get me through training in a bit. My glutes and hams are v sore from yesterday so it'll be upper body and a wee jog today I reckon!
Is anyone else strength training while doing this woe? I can't remember the other posters name who was using protein powder, and biwi you train don't you? How do you feel this woe is impacting your training? I have never felt better or more focussed than I do at the moment (forgetting yesterdays slip up Blush) I actually feel like there is no reason why I can't reach my goal - I really hope the stats match up to how I'm feeling when I get my body composition test done next week
Because I am starting to doubt a little bit how well the woe is doing for my weight loss my trainer keeps wanting to make me eat porridge and things :(

WillieWaggledagger · 31/05/2013 09:43

halfspamhalfbrisket - you're back on the spreadsheet

Yay, another pound down this morning! This means that I'm now just over 2 stone lighter than I was last year. It also means I'm getting tantalisingly close to dropping down into the next stone Grin It's funny thinking that a year ago I was happy to be down in the 12s. Now I'm looking like I'll be dropping down into the 10s in the next couple of weeks. GrinGrin

Breakfast was scrambled egg, smoked salmon and boiled asparagus with loads of butter. DD ate some for me as usual

Lunch will be chicken and chorizo kebabs again.

Not sure about dinner yet, I had fish last night so tonight will probably be the chilli chicken.

NewStartNewStory · 31/05/2013 10:34

Ok i have a question about pain, hindrance of weight loss and suggested approach.
Is it better to take the pain killers/anti-inflams then to not take them. The pain is at a level where pain killers is about copeable but pain killers would make the day go a bit nicer.

LilyAmaryllis · 31/05/2013 10:40

Surely, take the pain killers!?

LilyAmaryllis · 31/05/2013 10:45

And bullet step away from the porridge. I started this morning feeling angry at all the diet advice over the decades (think any womens mag diet article) that said something like, "eat muesli or porridge for breakfast and it will fill you up til lunchtime"

LIES!!

it will have you thinking you're an abnormal failure by mid-morning as you fall off your low-cal diet wagon again 2 hours into the day

rubybricks · 31/05/2013 11:04

morning everyone!

just marking place, had same breakfast as usual - had planned yoghurt instead but just didn't feel like it, will maybe have that for lunch.
flagging here with low energy levels, just need to get back in the zone.

have upped water intake so hopefully that will make a difference, but keep giving in to the odd glass of wine and then get my 'sod it' head on and have crisps or whatever Sad

off to make broccoli and stilton soup, hope everyone has a good day

BigStickBIWI · 31/05/2013 11:12

bullet well, you won't lose the weight if you keep dropping off the wagon! Simple as that.

I train regularly (slightly less regularly at the moment as I'm injured). I go to the gym with a trainer once a week, (for a year, after I first started low carbing seriously I was seeing him twice a week) for a fairly brutal session, and I try to go on my own at least once a week.

In between I am/was running - up to three times a week, training for a 5K run in October. I completed the C25K programme about three weeks ago, but have had problems with my shins, hence scaling down the exercise. My osteopath has cleared me to start running again as of next week, though, so I'll be back to doing some form of exercise at least 6 days a week.

I have never found this WOE to impact on the training that I do and, increasingly - especially when I'm running - I train in a fasted state. My body is now so well adapted to fat-burning, that I have plenty of fuel 'on board' and no need for carbs.

I think it's only really serious, endurance athletes/sportspeople who may need to consider upping their carbs. People 'like us' certainly don't need carbs to cope with exercise.

If you're really interested, there is a good book about it here

I certainly wouldn't take the 'advice' of your trainer and start eating more carbs. That way fatness lies ...
