Morning all!

Apologies for the lateness of the new thread. I have a weekly online class which has shifted to first thing on a Monday morning, so I totally forgot to start the new thread Blush
Anyway, here we are.

Here's the spreadsheet

Hope everyone has seen good results this morning - and here's to a good week 5. Hopefully we're out of the doldrums that are weeks 3 & 4!

I'm planning on doing turkey parmigiana on Sunday night, when ds and his girlfriend will be over for their supper. I'm debating whether to do a sort of halloumi parmigiana for her, as she is veggie.

Gunnersforthecup · 22/11/2024 19:11

So I have gone from 104 to 99kg over the course of the past 4-5 weeks, which is a result! I think I have lost at least a dress size, but am wary of buying anything new as I hope to be losing more weight!

Edited to add that I have completely confused the spreadsheet! I lost my scales, so had not weighed myself since I started, until today at my GP.

ReconstructionSite · 22/11/2024 20:37

What an amazing loss so far, well done @Gunnersforthecup!

BIWI · 23/11/2024 10:13

That's brilliant @Gunnersforthecup! (If only your team could be as successful Grin)

We were likely to have difficulty today avoiding carbs as we were due to visit friends we haven't seen in years, and I didn't feel comfortable asking them to accommodate this WOE after not seeing them for so long. But the snow has put paid to that and we've rescheduled - it is a bad day to try and cross the Pennines 😞

So now I'm a mix of relieved food wise, and sad as we were all looking forward to it - so planning an Indian takeaway (no bread or rice) to make up for the disappointment!

NoCarbsForMe · 23/11/2024 13:09

Yum! Love Indian takeaway 😊

Am having people over tomorrow and planning to try the orange almond cake mentioned in the last thread.

I don't like eating synthetic fake sugar/ sweeteners though....

NoCarbsForMe · 23/11/2024 13:10

What did we think is better?

Coconut sugar
Maple syrup
Brown sugar- but use less

????

prettybird · 23/11/2024 13:53

None of them. If you need a sweetener, use erythritol or inulin.

Not keen on erythritol
Didn't know inulin was sweet. Will check it out. Thanks.

Totally TMI, but has anyone gotten to the funny smelling wee stage yet? 😳

islandtiger · 23/11/2024 17:40

@CleanQueen123 yes! But when that happens I assume I'm not drinking enough water. Does that happen however much water you are drinking? So pleased I'm not reaching for the red wine today although sorely tempted. It's blowing a hoolie outside, and DH said he needed to open a bottle for the venison stew. But then he decided temptation would be too much for both of us. Breakfast was buttery scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. And a mid afternoon snack of leftovers: rocket, spinach, Gouda, Chorizo with a dollop of Kimchi. Just discovered Kimchi. Can't wait to try it with a boiled egg. We've got friends coming for lunch tomorrow so it's our standby aubergine and tomato stew and a big salad with cheese after. DH has conceded we will open a bottle of wine then 🍷 😆.

Possibly. I seem to remember something about it being linked to your body being in ketosis. Someone far more knowledgeable will be along to explain soon I'm sure.

The weather is definitely wine and face stuffing weather 😬 but have managed to fill myself with enough belly pork at lunch that I don't think I'll want dinner.

BIWI · 23/11/2024 18:30

How much water are you drinking @CleanQueen123?

I suspect you're about to tell me not enough 🙈 between the tea, coffee and water it is more than I think it is. At work I certainly get through nearly 2ltrs plus hot drinks throughout the day.

BIWI · 23/11/2024 18:46

Just checking!

You should be drinking 3 litres, so - assuming your hot drinks add up to another litre - you should be fine.

Had to share...I've seen the next stone down on my scales today! 🎉
From 14st7 to 13st13

Haven't been 13 something for YEARS. I still have a long way to go. But this is very encouraging indeed😊

somanylights · 24/11/2024 10:40

These are incredible losses @Gunnersforthecup and @NoCarbsForMe , absolutely fantastic!!
@UnOeufIsEnough , thank you for the massage gun advice, I haven't read that. Do you ever have manual lymphatic drainage? And yes, I've seen that about weight loss drugs too (like you, they're not for me tho). The multiple positive effects of low carbing are just so great, I'll be sticking to this for life I think (plus it's free!).
@BIWI thank you for your thoughts and time on this. I've read that article before, but a while ago, so it was good to read again (full of such inspiring stories!). So, I've worked out my net carbs by hand for 1 day this week. MFP listed the day as 1490 calories, 41g carbs, 99g fat and 116g protein. I've worked my net carbs out at 17.6g, so the free version of MFP must not show net carbs. So adjusting for this, my actual macros are 5% carb, 62.5% fat and 32.5% protein. What are your thoughts please? More fat and slightly less protein? Or if it's working this week, stick with it for now?

BIWI · 24/11/2024 11:12

If it's working, then no reason to change - but keep an eye on it and if it's no longer working, then up the fat.

Thank you @BIWI !

CleanQueen123 · 24/11/2024 12:40

I'm off to Exeter for work in a minute. The food situation might be interesting. The Premier Inn menu doesn't look promising 😬 if anyone local has any recommendations for something I could get delivered to the hotel I'd be grateful!

Either that or I think it's two days of cold supermarket snack food.

BIWI · 24/11/2024 12:43

Well, the breakfast will be OK! And they do have steak and salad on the menu, which would be OK (just don't have the chips Grin)

Yes, I think that might have to be the way I go. I'm at the university for two days and I'm not sure if lunch is being provided. I'd hazard a guess that it will be a carb fest if it is!

UnOeufIsEnough · 24/11/2024 14:00

@somanylights I've tried lymph drainage through reflexology, which was lovely and relaxing but I'm not sure if it did anything for my lipoedema!

Nightvax · 24/11/2024 18:50

Any tips for emotional eating…..have had a really tough weekend for various reasons, coupled with not being well all week, I caved and ate some tiger bread with Irish stew today, feel bloated and disappointed now!

Nightvax · 24/11/2024 18:51

@NoCarbsForMe well done on the new stone bracket 😃
