Morning all!

Apologies for the lateness of the new thread. I have a weekly online class which has shifted to first thing on a Monday morning, so I totally forgot to start the new thread Blush
Anyway, here we are.

Here's the spreadsheet

Hope everyone has seen good results this morning - and here's to a good week 5. Hopefully we're out of the doldrums that are weeks 3 & 4!

Good morning everyone, hope you are doing well

Thanks for the new thread & speadsheet @BIWI.

Stayed the same this week, which to be honest I am ok with as last week was not a disaster by any means, but will admit I did have some contraband.

Did not feel very well last week due to painful sinuses, vertigo etc. Last Wed did not feel like cooking evening meal so husband picked up a couple of ready meals from Co-Op. I had a fish pie, which had mashed potato on top, had looked on-line and looked for the least bad option, had 32g of carbs compared to the 55g carb meal my husband had. Served the fish pie with some veg. From the freezer.

I also had two pieces of toast on Friday, water intake was not great either, as felt a bit nauseous.

Today for breakfast I had some FFGY with berries. Lunch will be bacon (needs using today), scrambled eggs and some spinach. Tea will be lamb mince, which I will have with cauli rice, or shepherd’s pie with swede on top.

Good luck for this week.

islandtiger · 18/11/2024 10:57

Thanks for the spreadsheet @BIWI. Down one lb which is slow going but in the right direction. It will be interesting to see if these doldrums really do shift now.
Celebrating with a fried breakfast! Mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs and bacon. Love this WOE.

ReconstructionSite · 18/11/2024 11:51

Delighted with a 1.8lb loss this week, especially because my boozy shenanigans didn't have quite the impact I'd feared. Stayed on track food wise and said no to the beer whilst out with beer drinkers, so pleased to have managed to adapt my habits and stick with it throughout. (I won't be drinking that much red wine or gin next weekend though!)

Breakfast today of FFGY, cream and berries. Poached salmon and salad in my lunchbox for a bit later and it will be leftover roast lamb in a curry for tea.

Bex5490 · 18/11/2024 12:16

Woohooo!!! 2.2lb down this week which I’m thrilled about after my gain the week before!

I upped the fat - more butter on veg etc and it worked!

Hope everyone is having a great week too ❤️

Rayna37 · 18/11/2024 12:51

STS though I saw a solid drop throughout last week then back up 2lbs after the weekend quite a bit off track. Sure I can recover that this week.

Out and about in London tonight hoping for something compliant around Oxford St/Regent St. Flatiron, ideally but we'll see how it goes.

prettybird · 18/11/2024 13:00

1.5lb off, so down to 12st 10.5lb this morning Smile

I've lot 10.5lb so far: just as well as I am now needing to wear long johns under my not supposed to be tight jeans Grin the only pair I can currently wear Blush

Nightvax · 18/11/2024 17:58

Well done on losses everyone!
I haven’t weighed yet, scales haven’t arrived so will weigh tomorrow but expecting no loss/small gain as I’ve not been great with water and have had a few slices of toast whilst being unwell. Chest is feeling better today so back on track for me for the rest of the week.

LCagain · 18/11/2024 18:15

Well done everyone! Very happy with the first three weeks and enjoying the community spirit here. Even bought some new trousers today (not tried them on yet !)

BIWI · 18/11/2024 18:27

Great going @prettybird!

Glad to hear you're feeling better @Nightvax

... and I hope those trousers fit @LCagain Grin

A lb down since last week so pleased my hiccup at the weekend hasn't thrown me too much. Back on it now.

Avocado for breakfast
Tuna salad for lunch
Salmon mushrooms with spinach cooked in garlic & cream with french beans for dinner

Might grab some greek yog in a min.

LCagain · 18/11/2024 21:49

They did fit, but I don't think I like them enough to keep them!

ReconstructionSite · 18/11/2024 22:08

Delicate subject, but does anyone have any experience of frequently bad stomach issues on this WOE?

I have IBS so used to fairly up and down guts, but this is next level. It was fine in the first fortnight (I think the typical "only going every 3-4 days" low carb deal) but since then it hasn't been great and has gone massively the other way.

I eat a tonne of green veg and salad on the WOE, so not sure it is lack of fibre. But suspect fat might be an issue for me.

Any remedies or tweaks I can try would be gratefully received 🙏

BIWI · 18/11/2024 23:00

What symptoms are you having @ReconstructionSite? Sorry but I'm not quite clear from your post!

As a fellow IBS sufferer, all I can say is that my symptoms disappear when I'm low carbing.

Also, why do you think that the fat might be the issue?

Goodiewhemper · 19/11/2024 06:38

I have finally seen the scales move in the right direction again. After a gain two weeks ago I am now 100gr lighter than my pre gain weight. I will take this as a win. I was really frustrated for the last two weeks as I felt I was sticking rigidly to the plan. I was on strong painkillers and my appetite and stomach were affected so on reflection I probably wasn't eating enough and needed a little more fat. My waistline is another cm smaller than last week so that is another win.

Nightvax · 19/11/2024 06:48

I find my movements are very up and down, I either can’t go or really really need to go (but I can be like that during non low carb way of eating too so may not be a good indicator)

I’ve managed a 1.5lb loss despite everything so pleased with that (especially as it was my 3rd week)
I think for me stopping all the snacking on crisps and biscuits has made a massive difference!

ReconstructionSite · 19/11/2024 08:56

Great loss @Nightvax .

Diarrhea is the issue @BIWI - was trying to be delicate but also avoid spelling a tricky word 😂

When I first developed IBS symptoms in my 20s, fat - especially dairy - was definitely a trigger. That has eased off as the years have passed, though I've generally steered away from cream other than minimal splashes every since. I'm wondering if I've tipped myself into "that's too much for my stomach to tolerate" now.

I can cut back obviously. But I am rather enjoying it!

BIWI · 19/11/2024 09:08

I get you @ReconstructionSite! (on the issue as well as the spelling!)

Try cutting down/out the dairy for a few days and see what happens - you can get your fat from other sources.

If you know that dairy used to be a trigger, then it makes sense that it may still be. If that doesn't work, let's see if there's a plan B.

ReconstructionSite · 19/11/2024 09:41

Thanks @BIWI, will give that a try

StuntNun · 19/11/2024 11:55

@ReconstructionSite have you dramatically increased your fat intake?

ReconstructionSite · 19/11/2024 12:28

@StuntNun I think I was probably low-moderate fat before and have upped that a fair bit. I definitely wasn't following a low fat WOE before, but definitely would have grilled rather than fried, etc
e.g. Poached eggs on buttery toast for breakfast would have been a normal meal, less fatty meats would be typical. Now a lot more liberal with homemade vinaigrette!

StuntNun · 19/11/2024 12:31

@ReconstructionSite maybe dial down on the fat for a little and see whether it makes a difference, e.g. try mayo instead of vinaigrette on your salad. Usually people only get issues when they either suddenly increase their fat intake or they're consuming liquid fats such as bulletproof coffees (not recommended on this way of eating.)

ReconstructionSite · 19/11/2024 14:31

Thanks @StuntNun will do. And definitely nothing like bulletproof coffees here. The thought makes me gag a little!

Thesoundofmusic23 · 19/11/2024 15:56

Hi - I’m going to duck out of this one. I think I’m planning a big push in the new year but struggling with the timing of this one, thanks @BIWI as ever for organising us all, it’s a great community. Still 25lbs down from Jan and delighted to have kept it off all year. 🙌🙏

CleanQueen123 · 19/11/2024 16:56

No loss for me this week which is a bit disappointing. I've stuck to eating the right things but probably been too dependent on tea and coffee for my fluid intake rather than water now the weather has turned.

whinsome · 20/11/2024 08:11

Late to update this week, thought the thread had gone really quiet but then realised I hadn't moved over to the new one! 🙈😆

2lb down which I am very happy with. I have been sticking pretty well to strict bootcamp in the week, with a glass or two of wine at the weekend and a little bit of 85% chocolate.

However, I learned a lesson yesterday. I can not go anywhere near anything less than 85% chocolate without demolishing half a (big) bar, or 2! I bought some 50% and 70% chocolate last night with the aim of making those delicious sounding orange and cardamon chocolate pots but I started eating it instead (I'd thought I had a bit more than I needed for the recipe - which I didn't actually).

Anyway, lesson learned. Still a sugar addict. 85% seems ok, sufficient for me to feel like it's a bit of a treat but to not eat more than a couple small squares at a time. Won't be any chocolate pots for me for a while!

Hasn't seemed to affected my weight this morning which is something. Same as yesterday, so could be masking a potential loss, but better than I thought it might be. Shall try and drink extra water today to wash all the sugarness away!

How's everyone else doing?
