Week 6 - May '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - getting back on the wagon

BIWI · 17/06/2024 08:12

Morning all.

Seems like a bit of slippage all round - and I include myself Blush. So let's draw a big fat line over last week, and start afresh this week!

There are three weeks left, so time to undo any damage and drop a few more pesky pounds. Perhaps consider going back to strict Bootcamp for this week?

Anyway, hopefully we all have a good week. The weather - at least here Darn Sarf - looks a bit brighter. Possibly even warmer! Well, at least it's not raining ...

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

Good luck to us all Flowers

Thanks @BIWI - a small backslide for me - too much social this week - so probably less consistent with water and too much booze plus maybe a slip it two. Back on it again. As a daily weigher I know my trajectory is still going down though which is good. Even had a 141.3 in the last few days which is a new low. I think I’m also building muscle for the first time in my life so not sure what that does to my weight - am def converting some fat to muscle. Feel great generally and loads more energy than when I started this journey in January. Having to let old clothes go now and buying new.

Hope everyone else has a good week.

lastchancesalmon · 17/06/2024 09:38

Checking in, it's been a good week of loss here after the slow week 4 and I've now lost 10lbs since the beginning of boot camp! That feels like a really big achievement and has given me a bit of a boost. I'm going to really focus on the rules this week as too much alcohol is creeping in and with 3 weeks to go (both until the end of bootcamp but also until I go to a wedding in Europe) I want to give it a big push.
B - creamy coffee and target of 1.2 litres of water before 12
L - brought cold chicken to go with whatevers on the salad bar at work today and am keeping a bottle of Lucy's French dressing in the fridge so I can douse everything liberally.
D - planning some BBQ leftovers with hm coleslaw

TheOnlyMrsW · 17/06/2024 09:39

Definite slippage from me - rotten cold, coming up to totm, not enough fluids and too much alcohol (not to mention TOAST!!!!!). Amazed that I'm still the same but aware that it might take a day or so for the damage to register on the scales. Still a busy week with DD's last exams, open day on Saturday but thankfully nothing social planned so will be strict BC and a chance to get back on track.

On my second cup of peppermint tea (how is it still so flipping cold in June) and had a mushroom and tomato omelette topped with cheese for breakfast. Good luck this week lovely boot-campers!

DrBlackbird · 17/06/2024 10:02

No loss last week but thanks to @somanylights for those thoughts on inches. Clothes do feel a bit looser so I’ll take some measurements and cut back on cheese (though that did help the feeling full).

SpellitwithaY · 17/06/2024 10:41

A further 2lbs off this week but a bit cross as it WAS showing 3 yesterday.... So that's a total of 12lbs in 3 weeks! Can't really complain. Still motoring on

B Yog cream and strawberries
L lots of salad, cottage cheese and smoked mackerel
D - pork belly slices and salads

Water water water

I won a Stanley cup in a competition at work and it's enormous so I've no excuses lol 😆

SaltBlossom · 17/06/2024 11:10

Hi everyone - so my week 1 loss was 11lbs! Long way to go but I'm so pleased with myself and as ever thankful to BIWI 🌟
Would anyone on a laptop be able to copy the spreadsheet formulas onto my row? I can't seem to do it on my phone.

lastchancesalmon · 17/06/2024 11:19

@SaltBlossom Awesome start!

UnOeufIsEnough · 17/06/2024 11:26

@SaltBlossom Fantastic start!! 👏👏

I'm pleased to be back to my pre-holiday weight minus 1.5lb. Just going to KOKO as I'm feeling a bit lurgified today, like I could just fall asleep at my desk. Going to get some water and electrolytes in me and aim for an early night tonight!

Thanks as always @BIWI!

prettybird · 17/06/2024 11:55

Dinner last night: fillet of pork filled with slices of garlic, torn garlic leaves, some feta and lemon juice, wrapped in Serrano ham. Squished again with some lemon juice and drizzled with EVOO. Roasted for about half an hour at 180C fan, with a little bit of water in the roasting pan. Deglaze the roasting pan with a wee bit of cream to make a lovely sauce.

Served with buttery, garlicky French beans.

SpellitwithaY · 17/06/2024 12:11

@saltblossom that's amazing well done

@unoeufisenough also brava good recovery!

pangolinfan · 17/06/2024 12:30

Amazing @SaltBlossom and well done the rest of us for KOKO (or returning to the fray after slippage as the case may be)! I lost 2lbs this week and have now lost 7lbs in 4 weeks (I'm a week behind others, and my starting weight was one out because I failed to calculate 12 stone 7 correctly - doh). A further 1lb off puts me back under 12 stone for the first time this year, which I am looking forward to. Got a formal dinner tomorrow night which may be tricky (but I'm giving my boss a lift home, so won't be drinking). Quite proud that I made DH a batch of florentines for Father's Day yesterday and didn't eat one.

pangolinfan · 17/06/2024 12:39

One thing I was hoping would be better by now is tiredness/sluggishness when exercising. Swimming, running (always very slow anyway) and even yoga still feels harder work/slower than pre BC (in the case of swimming it definitely is slower because I track that). Any advice on how to improve things? Don't think it's my water intake. I do generally exercise fasted, but I did that anyway.

Bex5490 · 17/06/2024 14:51

0.6 pounds up which was inevitable after the unlimited Prosecco and burger debacle…

But back on the wagon and determined to have a strong week and KOKO.

Good luck everyone!!

BIWI · 17/06/2024 15:03

@SaltBlossom fantastic! Flowers

@pangolinfan I think you just need to KOKO - track down a copy of The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance if you can - should help you.

Afternoon all!

There are some fabulous losses this week!! Well done all.

Mine is 2.9lbs loss.
148.5 pounds
10 stone 8lbs

Just defrosting a couple of minty lamb cutlets for dinner tonight. Forgot to take my prawns out the freezer last night so lunch was scratchings once again!

BIWI · 17/06/2024 16:47

We're having fish pie this evening - I realised I had amassed various different fish in the freezer, so it will be made with hake, smoked code, salmon and then hard-boiled eggs. I'll poach the fish in a mixture of cream/milk and will use the liquor as a sauce in the pie. Topping will be mashed celeriac mixed with leeks, pan-fried in butter. Served with roasted broccoli and shallots.

OP posts:
BIWI · 17/06/2024 16:57

Smoked cod obviously!

OP posts:
MissBeck · 17/06/2024 16:58

That sounds decent @BIWI. My freezer sounds like yours. I don't eat much fish, but still buy it if it's on offer. Because, you know, it was cheap. 😁I still have half a bag of fish pie mix to use as well. I'll make an effort to use that this week I think.

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 17:07

143.8 lbs.
I am very pleased with this as I did have 2 glasses of wine and some brown rice (after a long run). I have been training quite a lot - swimming more which has an impact. No wine now until July!

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 17:10

@pangolinfan
Re exercise
I have to eat 2 hours before I exercise. That helps a lot and I no longer feel sluggish. Protein shakes also useful?

Glorianna · 17/06/2024 17:12

I seem to have hit a plateau over the last 4 weeks. Not sure why as I have been following the rules and no wagon falls.

Just looking at last year's data and I had a similar plateau for a month so determined to work through it.

I suspect it's related to stress and lack of exercise.

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 17:27

Are you ALL exercising?? 😮I do nothing! And I mean nothing! 😆Sit at a desk all day (8.30 - 3pm) then at my desk most nights (studying) when not being a taxi to DD!

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 17:35

@MissBeck
I swim a lot - sea swimming in the Summer- and I run. I have done both since I was a kid and it's habit. I feel rubbish if I don't exercise. I probably have a bit of (undiagnosed) ADHD and if I don't exercise can find it hard to focus, sit still or sleep.

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 17:36

Plus I don't have a creative bone in my body so it's how I relax .

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 17:43

@Gingerwarthog Fair enough! I did start an exercise routine for half hour each evening on my Wii Fit back in January, but stopped after a few months. never restarted again.
