Week 6 - May '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - getting back on the wagon

Morning all.

Seems like a bit of slippage all round - and I include myself Blush. So let's draw a big fat line over last week, and start afresh this week!

There are three weeks left, so time to undo any damage and drop a few more pesky pounds. Perhaps consider going back to strict Bootcamp for this week?

Anyway, hopefully we all have a good week. The weather - at least here Darn Sarf - looks a bit brighter. Possibly even warmer! Well, at least it's not raining ...

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

Good luck to us all Flowers

I’ve STS this week which is probably nothing less of a miracle given that I had the most awful week at work. I did stick (mostly) to plan but had no time to plan or prep proper meals so ended up munching my way throug the week. I suspect I single-handedly ate a block of cheese a day… This week is quieter so will get myself back on track - started the morning with a run and coffee, then cottage cheese, eggs, chicken breast and avocado for lunch and chicken thighs with broccoli for dinner. KOKO!

PunksVersusBrats · 17/06/2024 19:27

Well done on the losses this week. I'm another 1lb down. It's slow but consistent, so I'm happy.

I had my first takeaway test last night, a curry for Father's Day. I went for prawn sagwala and cooked myself a side of vegetables. No naan or rice and I've had the leftovers tonight 😇

One thing I'm realising is that, because I have so little time to eat at lunch, I've got into an awful habit of bolting all of my meals. I finish a perfectly sensible portion and still think that I'm hungry, because it's barely touched the sides 😳

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 21:28

@MissBeck
What are you studying? Hard with a child and full time job so respect to you.

pangolinfan · 17/06/2024 21:36

@MissBeck I only started exercising regularly since I went part time in February, and it's all concentrated into my two non working days and weekends. Plus both of my children are young adults who can drive themselves around when they are home, and I don't study! No way would be able to do what you do and exercise every week.

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 21:42

@pangolinfan I know, but maybe I should consider doing at least something each week, or every couple of days. 😂I have quite the pouch round my belly! Maybe Yoga to tone up a bit. 🤔😄

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 21:43

@MissBeck
That course looks interesting - demanding stuff though. Well done you.

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 21:48

@Gingerwarthog I'm a nerd at heart. I got my degree with honours a couple of years ago, which took 6 years part time with Open University, and wanted to go on to my masters, but it is waaay too expensive. 😩So I look for little ones to do, cause I love learning. Ironic since I was a little shit at school and got 1 GCSE. 😂

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 21:49

@MissBeck
If you work for a local authority in any capacity you may be eligible for an apprenticeship level 7 (masters level).

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 21:51

Google Level 7 apprenticeships. You would need your employer and LA to agree to it.
I don't know if it's an option for you?

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 21:51

@Gingerwarthog No, it's not a local authority. It's an independant Day Service that's already on it's knees to be honest. There's no way they would fund me to study.

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 21:56

@MissBeck
That's a pity - wonder if it's worth talking to the local university re funded part time postgrad degrees.

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 21:59

@Gingerwarthog It's something I would really love to do, but may have to wait for DD to get through the next couple of years first. Bloody hell, just her mocks this week are causing stress! 😂😂Dreading her GCSE's next year, especially if they haven't got her EHCP in place in time.

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 22:01

@MissBeck
She can also get additional time without an EHCP if the SENCO/ Exams Officer assesses her.

Gingerwarthog · 17/06/2024 22:02

@MissBeck
Anyway total respect.

UnOeufIsEnough · 17/06/2024 22:09

Any good recipes for a turkey leg? I bought one on impulse as it was so cheap and now I'm not feeling inspired by it.

I might bung it in the slow cooker with some bacon and mushrooms unless anyone has a better idea? Smile

Yeah, she has to have a seperate room to herself because of her Tourettes. 😂😂Not ideal shouting 'penis' and 'choo choo' every ten minutes in an exam hall. 😂

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 22:20

@UnOeufIsEnough This is all I've got! 😂

UnOeufIsEnough · 17/06/2024 22:21

Thanks @MissBeck Grin I'll keep that in mind for any leftovers!

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 22:24

@UnOeufIsEnough In one of my carb books there is:
Indian Turkey with Spinach
Mexican turkey Burger
Turkey and Mango Stir Fry
Turkey Fricasse
Turkey Moussaka

Any sound tempting?

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 22:30

@UnOeufIsEnough Non of them use legs. 😂I'm no help whatsoever! 😂

@MissBeck thank you for looking! Maybe I need to slow cook it and then stick the meat into something interesting! Those recipes look lovely! 🥰

MissBeck · 17/06/2024 22:33

See, I wouldn't faff about with any of them. I'd just roast it and eat it like a caveman!! 😂😂

Lougle · 18/06/2024 02:50

0.2lb down. A bit disheartened. But on I plod.
