Afternoon!

Apologies for the late starting of the thread. Got distracted by the papers and the need to cook stuff for later on today!

Anyway here's the spreadsheet for its final outing on this Bootcamp.

It's been a quiet one this time around, but hopefully people have seen good results.

No idea when the next Bootcamp will be, so in the meantime, lets keep chatting on this thread.

Thanks @BIWI!

I started a couple of weeks after this bootcamp started but I'm still absolutely delighted with 13.8lb off.

prettybird · 01/04/2024 13:03

Signing in. Smile

It’s much more difficult for me to post now that I’ve deleted the app - but I need, some time soon, to do a post asking for advice as dh is getting his hip replaced soon and his blood pressure and cholesterol, although ok, are borderline so he’s gone full on “following the NHS booklet” Hmm And then g course, “I know nothing” Hmm. He trusts our GP (who is good and we’ve been with for nearly 30 years) completely and will never question anything official.

Whicker · 01/04/2024 13:07

I finished on Friday, for family reasons, and absolutely smashed (well, by 2lbs) my target. Due to get back on the wagon tomorrow so will be around on the chat thread to help me to do so. I couldn’t have done it (and won’t be able to do the next bit) without all of you!

TheOnlyMrsW · 01/04/2024 13:16

1lb off which I'm absolutely amazed at but will take it! Finishing at 11st5lb which is a bit off target but glad to have kept getting back on the wagon when I fell off. Lamb is in the oven very low for later with a trivet of onion and carrots, and that will be the basis for soup for DH's lunches this week.

DD and I are away from Wednesday and I'm not going to worry too much about food there - will still avoid bread etc as it doesn't agree with me but looking forward to what Germany has to offer! Won't be too much alcohol as DD isn't drinker at all (got bought 2 pints for their birthday yesterday and finished 11/2 in 3 hours!) so my main hazard is likely to be potatoes......will be strict bc from Sunday when we get back.

My intention is strict bc during the week and lite at weekends - still have 9lb to lose for my target which will get me to the healthy bmi bracket and want to keep momentum.

Thank you @BIWI for all you do on these threads, it's so lovely to have the chat and recipes 😊

venusandmars · 01/04/2024 13:33

@prettybird does the NHS advice include lots of brown rice, wholegrain bread and wholewheat pasta? Plus lots of fruit? Oh dear!

I was away at a retreat centre last week. The food was all home cooked and very nice but tended to be baked potato with vegetable chilli, veggie lasagna etc. Although there were also some nice soups. Breakfast was the most challenging (porridge, fruit juice, cereals) but I had taken a couple of avocados with me in anticipation.

We had roast chicken over the weekend so there's lots of stock. A swede was lurking in the veg box so I made swede and tomato soup, really nice, hearty and doesn't taste at all 'turnipy'.

prettybird · 01/04/2024 13:46

@venusandmars Yup HmmConfused And low fat Hmm

I’ve had to buy semi-skimmed milk for him (although I’m still having full fat Grin) And apples and bananas.

Fortunately, because he’s only borderline, he’s saying that he just wants to make marginal changes, so that he doesn’t get rejected when he does finally get called for his op (which will be any time 4 days after 21 April, which is when his course of dental treatment finished and allowing for 4 days to come off his Naproxen)

So I’m reducing the amount of butter I do his veg in (or rather, give myself more of the melted butter Wink. And he’s reduced the amount of wine he’s been drinking (he freely admits that this year he’s been drinking extra , especially as I haven’t been joining him midweek) and too much Irn Bru and crisps, which he has now cut out.

prettybird · 01/04/2024 14:50

Oh - and I forgot the “no fatty meats and take the skin off chicken” Hmm

Plus no processed meats (which to be fair, is also a principle that I fail to adhere to on this WoE Wink)

Magnolia82 · 01/04/2024 22:08

Thanks @BIWI.

I need to keep going (not lost as much as I hoped I would yet), so it will be good to have people on this thread to keep checking in with.

Appalonia · 01/04/2024 22:29

I've lost 12lbs which I'm pretty happy with. Had a bit of rice yesterday, which was really nice, but I've still got 2lbs to lose, so will be back on it properly for next 2 weeks. Need to get some inspiration, but I did order some Simply Cook spice pots, as they've currently got an offer for 4 for £1. I've used them before and they're really nice. I chose the recipes that are low carb ( or can be adapted ), like Vietnamese pork. So looking forward to that! Also want to do more exercise to help maintain the weight loss. Got some lovely, juicy king prawns from Aldi in the freezer, so will have those with veg, also got asparagus with parmesan, avocados, veg soup and make some low carb cheese scones. So I'm sorted for the week!

Goodiewhemper · 02/04/2024 06:13

Good morning. I checked my weight and I came in at 78.5kg so not great but I will still koko because despite the setbacks this is the first time a woe gives me confidence and control.Well done to those of you who hit your targets and had steady weight loss over the weeks.

I mentioned in my last post that I hadn't been feeling great and was glutened and felt as if my gut was inflamed. It looks as if what I thought was lingering gut reaction to gluten was more likely uterine.Mid last week I got ovulation type pains on my left side for and have started bleeding over the last few days. It is a really small amount but considering I am 3.5/4 years since my last proper period and that I had a D&C last September, after giving up HRT due to ongoing progesterone induced bleeding,it is a wee bit worrying. My DH (oncology Dr) is cool out and said he will have a chat with my gynaecologist today to organise another ultrasound to see what is going on. Most likely I have either developed more polyps (last ones were benign) or the wall of the uterus is starting to thicken again. I am trying not to worry but I am a teeny bit concerned but am mostly just bloody fed up that this is still going on. As women we really do have to put up with a lot. 😞

Ooh that looks great and I have lots of minced beef in the freeze. Thank you Prettybird for posting.

Goodiewhemper · 02/04/2024 06:22

@prettybird. Hip surgery can be tough but he won't know himself afterwards. Probably making these small dietary changes now will give him some sense of control as be is heading into the surgery. Hope he is not in too much pain and makes a speedy recovery.

poorbuthappy · 02/04/2024 10:57

Morning campers.
Didn't quite make it into the 10s. Well the scale briefly toyed with it but ended at 11 dead, so 2 off this week
I think 9lb this camp and 18lb since Jan 1st.
I think the spreadsheet is having a moment though?

Very much enjoying this again. So pleased to be able to fit into clothes again and just feel better!

Here's the next one!

LilianaVikavanovich · 02/04/2024 16:51

I’ve had a bit of an over indulgent Easter , I think partly comfort eating , partly missing the lovely Caribbean sunshine and partly being a greedy dimwit

Moving on , a nice pork shoulder steak with lots of greens and creamy mushroom sauce tonight , Tesco shop tomorrow

Appalonia · 02/04/2024 18:49

Just had a yummy meal! Liver, onions, sausage with broccoli and runner beans. And gravy!

Thesoundofmusic23 · 02/04/2024 21:19

I will be koko so happy to chat here for support. My next goal is 145 and then 140 ideally by mid summer. Had a bit of wobble and indulge over easter - thoroughly enjoyed it but back on strict boot camp tomorrow for a week or two to right the ship.

catwithflowers · 03/04/2024 08:11

Morning everyone,

We are back from not so sunny Spain! In the end it was very cold and poured down for 5 out of the 7 days. On day 6 we had a chilly (2 degree) start but the sun came out on the last afternoon for a few hours and on the last day we had some proper sunshine. Of course it's 22 degrees there today with a fab forecast for the next week 🤷‍♀️

My husband and I both lost half a stone on the last Bootcamp but only did Bootcamp light. On holiday we haven't been too bad if you discount the wine 😂 and had lots of salads but we did have bread for breakfast most days. Back on the plan now but I won't bother to weigh for the next week or so!!

Thanks for the chat and support thread BIWI.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 04/04/2024 01:26

Thanks for the chat and support thread!

Had Nigella's Meatza with an asparagus salad tonight

Trying to keep up a good variety of veg as I do tend to stick to the same few.

UnOeufIsEnough · 04/04/2024 19:39

Finally some sunshine today. Our Easter holidays have been an absolute washout so far!

Had a lovely walk to a ruined castle along with a chicken Caesar salad in the pub. DH and the kids were too full for dinner after their carb-fest lunch so I had some leftover roast pork, neeps and buttery cabbage. Delicious!

LilianaVikavanovich · 04/04/2024 20:57

We had some sunshine too @UnOeufIsEnough !
We went for a walk up in DSis field , looking for bluebells , lots of foliage , no flowers yet ( lots of mud though )
Rain this afternoon

Went to a gym class this evening , shattered now !
I had a late dinner of chicken thighs , a traybake type , bung it all in with as much veg as possible ( needed more salt though )

Going Out , Out tomorrow, dinner , theatre and staying in a hotel

UnOeufIsEnough · 04/04/2024 21:00

@LilianaVikavanovich it makes such a difference to have a wee bit of spring in the air!

TheOnlyMrsW · 07/04/2024 17:40

Back and not too much damage - 3lb on but I'm fairly confident that will disappear in a few days with plenty of water (one thing I was awful at whilst away, never sure where there would be toilets!).

About to have steak with roast veg and a swede gratin.........and then meal plan for the week so can shop tomorrow before work. Thinking that there will be lots of vegetable scrambles and roast veg in my immediate future but I'm happy with that as it's easy and I don't have much headspace at the moment.
Anyone who has other ideas for swede would be appreciated as I've got two of them plus a cauliflower and a white cabbage that need using up!

Whicker · 07/04/2024 18:00

Welcome back @TheOnlyMrsW . Only 3lbs on is excellent and hopefully will whoosh straight off.

Easter weekend off turned into a full week off for me :( But I am aiming to start again tomorrow.

BIWI · 07/04/2024 20:00

@TheOnlyMrsW two things I do with swede - one is to purée it, the other is to make 'chips' with it.

Purée - peel and cube the swede, then boil in salted water till tender (20-25 minutes), drain and let it air dry for a few minutes, then return to the same pan, add a good amount of butter (at least 25g) and then purée with a stick blender (or put it in a liquidiser if you haven't got a stick blender). Check for seasoning .

Chips - peel swede and cut into chip shapes. Put on to an oven tray, with lots of olive oil and season well. Bake in a hot oven for around 40 minutes (turning half way through) until starting to brown.
