Feb '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - Here we Go!

So our first official weigh-in won't be until Monday, but I thought it would be a good idea to get this thread up, so that we can all start thinking and prepping for it. This is especially important for those of you who are new to low carbing/Bootcamp.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (although it's possible that @FinallyHere might be posting an updated one later)

You'll see that it's divided into three sections, which reflects the fact that for some of us, this Bootcamp is a continuation of the Dry January challenge.

From Monday, the next Bootcamp will last for 8 weeks.

If you're just joining us anew, then it's important that you follow Bootcamp properly, i.e. the first two weeks will be strict, before you relax into Bootcamp Light in Week 3 (if you want to.). For anyone who has been with us for the January challenge, it's entirely up to you how you take part. You can, if you wish, do the next two weeks as strict Bootcamp, or you can continue with Bootcamp Light.

Please feel free to populate the 'original weight' field, even though nothing will happen about it until I have another go. I had a great idea about this which just didn't come off & its obvious now to me why that is. sigh

Fully compliant first day back on LC 💪🏻 Am hoping to pee about 2 litres before bedtime to avoid being woken up by my bladder tonight! 🤞🏼😆

@FinallyHere Bah to the spreadsheet gremlins and thanks for all the time you spend keeping us/it straight.

I need to bow out before I start - shit has hit the fan and it looks like I won't be able to follow any diet for a while.

I hope to be back by next month

Good luck

Very sorry to hear this, and hope whatever it is passes soon/you're feeling OK. And we'll still be here for you when you're ready Flowers

Have just stumbled across the LC BC!

Excited as I have restarted my health journey this Feb, having put on 4kg over Xmas.

I've been going it alone but find I'm always highly motivated by a group effort!

I do high protein & veg, medium fat and low carb. Also love strength training and little bit of yoga when I have time 🏋️

Welcome to Bootcamp @LondonLovie!

However, I do need to point out that on Bootcamp we follow a high fat, medium protein way of eating.

We were away last night, staying with some friends before we went to a gig with them. They cooked dinner, and were very happy to make it a low carb meal, which was great.

It did mean, though, that I wasn't here to weigh in this morning. Hopefully the scales will be a bit kinder to me than they were last week!

@BIWI then I will step out. I can't go mega high fat for health reasons, so this approach isn't for me.

BIWI · 05/02/2024 21:36

Sorry to hear that @LondonLovie - but good luck with your approach.

and this evening's dinner

Duck breast, lambs lettuce (dressed with olive oil & apple cider vinegar vinaigrette) roast celeriac chips and roast rhubarb. Undrained juices poured over the plate.

Delicious and additionally joyful that I'm so used to low sugar that I throughly enjoy eating unsweetened rhubarb. My father used to eat rhubarb without dipping it into sugar (as we did) and it seemed to my childish eyes such a glamorous and sophisticated thing to do.

venusandmars · 05/02/2024 21:50

@FinallyHere You are legend!

Had a wonderful prawn stir-fry tonight. And between yesterday and today I have had 25 different plant based foods (target is 30 in a week). How can anyone say this woe is inherently unhealthy?

venusandmars · 05/02/2024 21:53

@LondonLovie If you look at some of the posts where people share their daily meal plans, or if you are willing to share yours... I wonder how much difference there is between them?

I guess that on this particular way of eating we are looking to add fat if the protein and veg is lean. Maybe butter on some broccoli and cabbage. Or choosing higher fat meats - chicken thighs with the skin on, duck, pork belly...

LondonLovie · 05/02/2024 21:57

@venusandmars thank you lovely. I really doubt there much difference at all,
I'm seasoned at LCing and tracking all my macros. I originally lost 12kg with my approach so it's all goodWink

venusandmars · 05/02/2024 22:00

@LondonLovie and I edited my post..

FinallyHere · 05/02/2024 23:16

@venusandmars 25 in a day is pretty legend yourself. Did you do the Zoe programme too? I found the CGM brilliant support at the start of bootcamping.

Whicker · 06/02/2024 06:55

An ok day yesterday - creamy coffee, ffgy, beef stew with veg, ffgy with lemon. A lot of water (and a lot of weeing). Aim for today is to boost the veg/salad content.

RooRooCooChoo · 06/02/2024 07:02

Stuck to the plan yesterday, with the only addition of a chunk of Stilton and a handful of nuts as a 4pm snack.

Today's plan is for
L: prawn cocktail and Greek salad (my favourite M&S haul)
D: salmon with a creamy leek sauce and broccoli

Got a lunchtime meeting and have been asked for my sandwich preferences. Rather than dissect sandwiches in front of clients I shall buy my food on the way in and have an early lunch.

Frumpyunicorn · 06/02/2024 07:06

Morning all, I am feeling much better now I have been back to bootcamping a few days. Going to have tuna mayo and salad for lunch and sausages with swede mash for dinner.

islandtiger · 06/02/2024 08:25

I'm in @FinallyHere @BIWI. I have gained 3lb in 3 days by completely disregarding everything I've learned. so very keen to get started again if I'm to reach that goal of 140lb by Easter. I'm away from home without DH keeping me on the straight and narrow but I've got all your posts to motivate me again. DM has a freezer full of uneaten food which is my instinct not to waste but I'm just going to ignore it for now as there's nothing LC about anything! Brunch will be a boiled egg and avocado. Thank you everyone, here's to a better week.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 06/02/2024 08:38

Feeling horrible and bloated today and the scales have rewarded my saintly BC ways with a 1.5lb GAIN overnight. Pretty sure it's not my period but hoping it's something hormonal and will go away as quickly as it came.

Today's plan:
B: Greek yog and cream
L: likely nothing as I'm at the dentist for a huge filling so think eating might be off the agenda
D: I've just put a chilli in the slow cooker (no beans) which I'll have with cauli rice

Metabolicallycomplicated · 06/02/2024 09:03

Well i swan dived spectacularly off the wagon last night. My MRI scan was ok, BUT the poking and prodding and general medicalisation of the situation brought everything home a bit hard. I got a bit upset on the way home and DH and I had a pizza for dinner.

Not my finest hour, and odd given I’ve managed to stay on boot camp religiously for a full month while going through 2 separate cancer investigations with willpower in tact. I’m not sure why this was suddenly a trigger point but I’ve decided to not beat myself up about it. It is what it is, I’m back to eating normally today (normal being boot camp).

BIWI · 06/02/2024 09:12

Sorry to hear that @Metabolicallycomplicated - but it's in the past now, isn't it?! Hopefully you'll be more on an even keel today. But it must be difficult, I know. Flowers

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 06/02/2024 09:13

Well done @Metabolicallycomplicated -eating something unusual and then going back to 'normal' eating (low carb for us) is what slim people do. Sorry you are having a hard time.

I was very busy yesterday so didn't manage all the water but food was on track and I swerved the wine.

Scales still not working (I didn't break them ) but I feel thinner and will add to the spreadsheet when I have numbers from new or repaired scales.

TheOnlyMrsW · 06/02/2024 09:24

Weighed in this morning and somehow the weekend's shenanigans didn't hit too hard at all - possibly something to do with 60k steps, however I do feel very meh and have a rotten sore throat to show for my efforts! Lots of herbal tea for me and hopefully can nip it in the bud before it goes on full-on snotty cold, I've got two really busy weeks coming up and cannot afford to be ill..........and 9.5lb to lose this BC.

Today's plan is IF until lunchtime then some greek yoghurt if I can face it. Carbies are having chilli tacos for dinner but I will have last night's leftover chicken, spinach and mushroom stew with a side of avocado.

For to say thank you to BIWI and FinallyHere yesterday for running everything and the lovely BC-ers for support, advice and general awesomeness.

Almahart · 06/02/2024 10:32

First day of completely compliant BC completed. Onto the next!
