Feb '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - Here we Go!

BIWI · 03/02/2024 22:16

So our first official weigh-in won't be until Monday, but I thought it would be a good idea to get this thread up, so that we can all start thinking and prepping for it. This is especially important for those of you who are new to low carbing/Bootcamp.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (although it's possible that @FinallyHere might be posting an updated one later)

You'll see that it's divided into three sections, which reflects the fact that for some of us, this Bootcamp is a continuation of the Dry January challenge.

From Monday, the next Bootcamp will last for 8 weeks.

If you're just joining us anew, then it's important that you follow Bootcamp properly, i.e. the first two weeks will be strict, before you relax into Bootcamp Light in Week 3 (if you want to.). For anyone who has been with us for the January challenge, it's entirely up to you how you take part. You can, if you wish, do the next two weeks as strict Bootcamp, or you can continue with Bootcamp Light.

Sorry to hear your news, @blackteaplease . Make sure you take care of yourself.

Cantaloupe melon for breakfast. I can’t get used to it being in the green list. Is it really allowed?

AllTheBlackCoffee · 10/02/2024 09:46

Sorry to hear your sad news @blackteaplease Flowers

Thats a really interesting article and has got me thinking about my holiday in a few weeks time. We're self catering in this country so in theory shouldn't pose too much of an issue but I know from past experience it's all too easy to give in to the fuckits when I'm away.

We have a gas bbq in the lodge where we are staying so I've told DH we need to take the brolly and use it rain or shine so am planning lots of grilled farm shop meats, with interesting salads and veggies. I've also got some cakes coming from Deliciously Guilt Free for an afternoon treat and will take a stash of SLC rolls and wraps for easy lunches and pork puffs for snacking.

I think I'll also take my scales, which I've never done before, just so I can keep my focus. That might seem a bit extreme but I know all too well if I step off the wagon it takes forever for me to get back in the zone so I really want to try and stay there this time. My aim for the week is not really to lose weight but to keep food LC and stay in control. We'll see how that pans out anyway Grin

Today's plan:
B: nothing
L: something eggy, omelette maybe
D: DH a got some amazing rump steaks from the butchers yesterday and am going to do celeriac dauphinois, garlic mushrooms, mange tout and baby corn.

Thanks for the article BIWI, I have skimmed it but definitely need to re-read

Thesoundofmusic23 · 10/02/2024 10:03

Really good article - thanks @BIWI - I’ve noticed I’m eating less and staying full which has allowed me to have a bit of fruit/ nuts/ dark choc and still be loosing. Really enjoying this woe and also realising it is good for a medical condition I have had most of my life - so a double win. Definitely helps to have a supportive community though. I’m heading towards a healthy bmi which was definitely one of my main goals for BC and this year generally.

Morning all, sorry to hear your news @blackteaplease, look after yourself Flowers. Still suffering from post-festival lurgy, really have no appetite at all but have gone up on the scales today 🤷, won't stress as it's also totm and I know I'm generally going downwards.
Have a pottery day planned, need to do some batch cooking and tidying, DD finished yesterday for half term but is working later on (helps to keep me off the wine as needs picking up afterwards!!!).
No appetite really but will have ffgy and some whoopsie raspberries for brunch. Mainlining herbal tea and paracetamol 🤣. Have a good weekend all!

LilianaVikavanovich · 10/02/2024 11:47

Sun is shining here , did a big shop yesterday , so I’m pottering about outside and DH has gone fishing
Courgette soup for lunch ( made yesterday ) and pan fried hake with chorizo and tomato sauce and FLGV
Dying to open the wine later , but will resist

Hmm. Not quite sure why it's in the green list, as it's 6.8g carbs per 100g (according to. Sainsbury's website). I'll go and have a look!

@blackteaplease sending love.

Sneaky hop on the scales this morning and 3lb off. Although I was slightly poorly on Thursday so didn't eat a huge amount.
And there's a slight possibility of some wine this afternoon due to the most important rugby match of the entire year. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Hey ho. WOE. Not a diet.
Happy Saturday all

FinallyHere · 10/02/2024 21:02

@blackteaplease

TheOnlyMrsW · 11/02/2024 11:03

Officially back (slightly under woo!) to where I was at the end of January's BC this morning so a combination of loads of herbal tea and no appetite has definitely worked! Remains to be seen what will happen when I actually start eating properly again but will take it for now 🤣. Still grotty and snotty, I've given it to DD just in time for half-term which hasn't gone down well 🤦, she's supposed to be going on a uni offer holder trip with her dad this week oops!
Footie this afternoon and not much else planned

Whicker · 11/02/2024 11:15

Glad you’re feeling better @TheOnlyMrsW and pleased for you with the weight loss side effects too.

Heating up some chilli for an early lunch, and considering my packed lunch options for the week.

Whicker · 11/02/2024 11:34

Thanks for checking out the cantaloupe situation @BIWI . I saw it moved on the SoF. I should have known it was too good to be true! At least my accidental BC sin was a sin with some fruit rather than anything else, I suppose.

BIWI · 11/02/2024 11:42

TBH @Whicker I can't remember where the carb counts for the fruit carb counter came from, or even who compiled them! But I think I need to go and have a longer look and check all of them now.

@poorbuthappy hope you managed to avoid drinking your sorrows, I just about did!

My partner is taking my eldest away to Scotland over half term tomorrow, leaving me with the 3 yr olds, but they'll be in nursery. Usually it means 'girl dinner' as I'm rubbish at cooking when I'm the only adult around. But I've made a big bolognese today and made sure I've got stir fry bits and pieces to see me through. All LC of course.

AIBConsiderate · 11/02/2024 17:58

@poorbuthappy that last message wasn't clear that I'm a fellow Welshie, not someone from across the border taunting you 😅

poorbuthappy · 11/02/2024 18:07

@AIBConsiderate 😂😂😂😂😂

I got you.
Defeat from the jaws of victory again.
It's hard being 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 during the 6 nations most of the time!

Although the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇫🇷 match was brilliant and it was a bloody try!

venusandmars · 11/02/2024 18:28

@poorbuthappy too right! We was robbed!

I've had a lot of food today, not quite what I'd planned. Had just had late breakfast (lc bread with fried egg, and creamy coffee) when dc phoned and declared they were coming for lunch. We had crudities to dip in the whipped feta, then leek, cauliflower and spinach in cheese sauce, with bacon crumb on the top.

Dinner will be suasages, celeriac chips and buttery cabbage.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness updated with, I hope, no change to the link above.

if I have missed you, or you spot anything else missed, please let me know so I can fix it pronto. Thank you @BIWI and all you lovely bootcampers for the great support. As they say in the Oscar speeches, couldn't do this without you

Just spotted there’s a new BC! Please could you add me? Thank you!

Added you to the starting this current month @Glorianna

Welcome back (I'm sure I remember you, apols. if Ive got muddled up)

islandtiger · 11/02/2024 19:20

@FinallyHere would you move me from January and I'll weigh in tomorrow. I'm definitely in, and desperately in need of the support from all the lovely boot campers. It's been a bit of a hopeless week, I give up when I'm away from home and stressed. Too easy to turn to a glass of wine 🍷. Not at all tempted by bread or sweet things anymore so that is something. I'm going to start again tomorrow as I don't want to go over 150lb and my target is somewhere below 140lb. Thank you ☺️

Almahart · 11/02/2024 19:57

@BIWI I seem to remember you looked up canteloupe melon on the last BC and iirc it was BC compatible and we were all delighted . It was me who searched but I can't find it I'm afraid.
