Feb '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - Here we Go!

So our first official weigh-in won't be until Monday, but I thought it would be a good idea to get this thread up, so that we can all start thinking and prepping for it. This is especially important for those of you who are new to low carbing/Bootcamp.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (although it's possible that @FinallyHere might be posting an updated one later)

You'll see that it's divided into three sections, which reflects the fact that for some of us, this Bootcamp is a continuation of the Dry January challenge.

From Monday, the next Bootcamp will last for 8 weeks.

If you're just joining us anew, then it's important that you follow Bootcamp properly, i.e. the first two weeks will be strict, before you relax into Bootcamp Light in Week 3 (if you want to.). For anyone who has been with us for the January challenge, it's entirely up to you how you take part. You can, if you wish, do the next two weeks as strict Bootcamp, or you can continue with Bootcamp Light.

@FinallyHere would you move me from January and I'll weigh in tomorrow. I'm definitely in, and desperately in need of the support from all the lovely boot campers. It's been a bit of a hopeless week, I give up when I'm away from home and stressed. Too easy to turn to a glass of wine 🍷. Not at all tempted by bread or sweet things anymore so that is something. I'm going to start again tomorrow as I don't want to go over 150lb and my target is somewhere below 140lb. Thank you ☺️

@islandtiger Glad to have you back. I've moved you back to the January cohort, always happy to oblige

@BIWI I seem to remember you looked up canteloupe melon on the last BC and iirc it was BC compatible and we were all delighted . It was me who searched but I can't find it I'm afraid.

Edited

me who asked that should say - I've searched but can't find it

Frumpyunicorn · 11/02/2024 22:19

Evening all, I was doing really well until an impromptu get together with some friends this afternoon led to lots of wine and all the crisps, oops!

recklessgran · 12/02/2024 06:56

Morning all. 2.5lbs off after my first week on boot camp. I'm a bit disappointed with myself as it would have been more as I weighed less on Friday than I do now. Same old story - out to dinner with friends on Saturday night which started well with sirloin steak and a large dressed salad alongside a JD and coke zero but ended badly with 2 glasses of red wine and a dessert. Lesson learned! Classic case of self sabotage. I needed @BIWI standing over me with her big stick! Lesson learned. I'm cross with myself as I'd had a perfect week sticking rigidly to all the rules up to then. Good luck with your weighins everyone.

Frumpyunicorn · 12/02/2024 07:32

@recklessgran 2.5lb is a fantastic loss.

It's 1lb from me. I am doing bootcamp light and have stuck to it well apart from yesterday when I went completely odd plan in the afternoon. But I am doing this long term and life is for living, I am straight back on it today with no plans to drop it this week. It will be ham hock and cauliflower cheese for dinner tonight.

QforCucumber · 12/02/2024 08:04

Ooo delicious @Frumpyunicorn we had gammon with cauli cheese and creamed leeks for dinner yesterday.

stayed the same on the weight today but I wholly expected that after waking up Saturday with a rotten cold. I don’t know if I’ve drank any water this weekend - never mind ‘enough’ heads a bit less fuzzy now so back to focus (and work yay)

cathyandclaire · 12/02/2024 08:06

Excellent loss- 2.5lb is great and I'd also take a pound! I stayed the same, which I'm taking as a win after a week in Miami Beach.

I'm pretty close to target ( 4lb off ideally) so I have to be super strict to see any loss at all. I also discovered that I've accidentally ordered the wrong Siracha. The one I've been eating my omelettes etc with is 30% sugar!!!!

Anyway onwards and, hopefully, downwards!

Baystard · 12/02/2024 08:18

Sorry for your loss @blackteaplease Flowers

I have had a pretty good week and lost 3lb. I hope some is fat! Like you @WitchWand I've found it really difficult to shift weight recently so seeing a 3lb loss for the week is a relief. I need to shift about 5lb more to get compellingly below the next stone bracket and that's my goal.

Lovely lunch out at the weekend, asked the restaurant to swap the potatoes for green veg and they gave me a lovely little mountain of buttery broccoli and kale, very delicious.

Good luck to all of today's weighers!

whinsome · 12/02/2024 08:18

5lb down for me on my first week back on LC after Christmas and very happy with that! That's not far off what I lost the last BC I did, I think the key this week was drinking all the water. Surprisingly, though I kept tripping off to the loo in the day, I rarely needed to at night! Result! I also added in some electrolytes mid-week as I'd started feeling thirsty despite the huge volumes I'd been drinking.

It's been a really hectic week so haven't been around much but am appreciating the chat when I get a chance to catch up with Mumsnet.

💐 blackteaplease

I have been reminded of the LC moussaka which used to be a staple of mine, so going to pop some lamb mince and aubergine into our shop this week.

Congratulations on the weightlosses and navigating social events.
