Jan '24 Dry Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 3

Morning all.

So I've put the Big Stick down, and let's start this week afresh.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Remember, this is only a four week challenge, and we're now half-way through. For the next two weeks, if you want, you can do Bootcamp Light (which simply means that you can add in some fruit (berries mainly), and some nuts and seeds. In moderation only, please.

But NO ALCOHOL!.

Whether you started on 1 or 2 January, we've now completed a whole fortnight without booze. Hopefully you should be feeling the benefits of this beyond just it helping with weight loss. Having moaned about not sleeping better, which is supposed to be one of the key benefits, last night I did sleep very well (having had the worst night's sleep the night before!), so hopefully it's all kicking in now.

I'm also up for carrying on in the general chat thread. This is the first time in ages I've managed to get into bootcamp, usually I'm full of hope but miss the strict start and then can't get fully on the wagon

LC4LifeStillMeButOnLaptop · 22/01/2024 09:56

@BIWI ,@lurknolinger and @Jollyholibobs - I hope that's ok, I have updated the total loss to date column. I finally managed to log into Mumsnet from my laptop, so can help out with the spreadsheet and update things when you need to.

Morning all, a 2lb loss for me this week. I think I had crept up to having too much milk in my tea so my plan this week is to reduce my normal tea and drink more herbal tea instead.

SamuelWhiskey · 22/01/2024 09:59

1.7lbs off this week - nearly 5lbs in total. Slow and steady I guess - I do have quite a lot to lose but I've always really struggled to lose while breastfeeding (who said you can eat all the cake?!)

I've not done so well keeping up with the thread this week, but am inspired to make an aubergine parm this week - I have three festering in the bottom of the fridge and I'm getting a bit bored of celeriac.

A couple of pounds this week would be amazing so I can make it to the 1/2 stone mark

@LC4LifeStillMeButOnLaptop thank you very much!

Off to start the week 4 thread now

1.4lbs off for me this week which considering I was showing a stubborn 2lb gain mid week is a win!

NSV’s this week:

My Endometrial hyperplasia is clearly improving because I’ve stopped bleeding officially Grin. Given high doses of progesterone hadn’t been working for 5 weeks and the only other change I’ve made is this WOE, my working theory is that this WOE has brought my insulin production right down (I’m insulin resistant) and therefore my oestrogen production has also come down meaning the progesterone therapy is now enough to match my oestrogen level and my endometrium has started to regress (finally!!)

Like you @Thesoundofmusic23 this has to be a long term WOE for me rather than a short term diet so I’m fairly unconcerned about the speed the weight is coming off and more concerned about staying on plan. They say don’t they that you have to do something consistently for 10 weeks for it to become a perpetual habit and no longer a conscious effort.

WRONG THREAD - I KNOW :) (I was catching up on reading this one.)

Good news about your health - and the weight loss MC!

I think that you are right about accepting this way of eating being for the long-term.

I've done this before and succeeded with the weight. (Despite avoiding scales.) Going back to 'normal eating' has brought me back here too. (With less weight to lose but still too much.)

I can see that rethinking 'normal' has to be the way ahead.

The food is loved by me and by family. (I'll be trying that aubergine dish- thanks) but I need to fully accept that eating refined grains and sugar cannot be 'normal' for me. They have to be occasional - or avoided- in my usual life.

Is it too late to join?

Is it too late to join?

We’re on the last week over on the final week thread (this is the thread for last week) but no reason why you can’t join us and continue on the Feb boot camp when it arrives :)

BIWI · 27/01/2024 08:48

@Slumberlands

We're at the end of week 4 of a 4-week challenge, but you're very welcome to join us on the thread which is here

If you haven't done Bootcamp, or low carbed before, have a look at the spreadsheet (which is linked to in the OP) and have a read of the rules.

Also, read the first thread of this challenge where there's a bit more chat about what we do/don't eat
