For one month only - 4 weeks of strict Bootcamp, which means no booze.

If you want to, you can do Bootcamp Light, but with the exception of no alcohol.

All welcome! But please, only sign up if you are prepared to do the whole thing without alcohol.

Looks like I’m the heaviest in the group. 😢The only way is down.

MyShinyThing · 01/01/2024 11:46

Happy new year everyone. I've been up with a stomach bug since the early hours of the morning so won't be joining you in all the lovely bootcamp food today. I guess I'll call this an extended fast and see how I'm feeling tomorrow. I haven't weighed today, I'll do it and add to the spreadsheet when I'm feeling a bit better.

Lucienandjean · 01/01/2024 11:54

@CharlieHadAPigeon when I started low carbing two years ago, I was by far the heaviest person on the spreadsheet (I started at 306lbs).

I had to overcome some (unhelpful) embarrassment on my part, and even shame, to own up to my weight then. But everyone has been very encouraging here, and we focus on health, feeling better, and how much weight we're losing, not on how much there still is to lose!

I've put on a few pounds over Christmas, but I know no one here will make me feel bad about that, and I'll get plenty of encouragement to lose it again.

There's also so much useful advice and lots of ideas for meals in this group. You've done the hardest bit by making a start. Smile

LazydaysofSummer · 01/01/2024 12:06

It's definitely worth taking measurements too, as after the initial couple of weeks the weight loss may appear to slow down, however you could still be losing inches!

@Lucienandjean thanks for the encouragement. Sounds like you’ve really taken control of your wellbeing. I’m hoping this year will be a marathon not a sprint for me with steady progress before next Christmas when I’m going on holiday.

God morning all.
Have started well, although my body is yelling "where are the minstrels?"
Can't seem to find the new spreadsheet though, despite having the google sheets app. So logging weight here at 161.5, which is a 7lb gain on 9 days over Christmas. Ouch!

I think I've added everyone - and have corrected the 'mistake' @poorbuthappy!

We have guests with us who stayed over last night, so won't be around for a while.

Alcohol-free starts today, but the low carbing doesn't - tomorrow for me.

Thanks @BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas
Have logged my weight now.

PurpleWhirple · 01/01/2024 14:33

@CharlieHadAPigeon I haven't weighed in yet as I'm not home until this evening, but I know I weigh more than you do. Try not to think of it like this - I think when you have more to lose it's easier to have a big impact! I lost 9lbs one week when I bootcamped earlier. Yes it averages out and obviously that was an exceptional week but I don't think people with only a few stone to lose can shift that in a week.

I have about 10 stone to lose to get to a healthy weight. I'm not even thinking about that yet, just working a stone at a time.

CocktailQueenie · 01/01/2024 15:00

Had spinach, cucumber and rocket salad with a hard boiled egg and some turkey for lunch, made a tasty dressing with mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and pepper with a little water to loosen it. Drinking lots of water too.

CocktailQueenie · 01/01/2024 15:02

Trying to ignore other family members eating crisps and chocolate 😡.

walttynutcade · 01/01/2024 15:03

I am in please

Happy new year everyone!

My Christmas overindulgences have resulted in about half a stone going on. I’m so fed up of the over eating cycle and I’m sure it’s carbs that drive it (for me). It feels like my brain is hijacked and keeps shouting more, more, more! They never fill me up and I’m always looking or thinking about the next hit. If I’m honest I don’t even really enjoy it, it’s like a compulsion. I’m looking forward to the lovely zen feeling you get when you’re properly in the LCHF zone if that makes sense.

I usually have FFGY with nuts / berries / flax for breakfast. Obviously the berries and nuts are out for the first couple of weeks but is flax ok?

Thanks very much for taking the time to do the spreadsheet / manage the chat / motivate / advise :-) It makes a world of difference knowing that there is an invisible army of fellow LCers out there!

Roundthebend45 · 01/01/2024 15:20

Happy new year everyone! Good start so far - Greek yoghurt and a pinch of cinnamon powder for breakfast. For lunch I had a slice of ham, avocado, two boiled eggs and salad with olive oil and a small bit of mayonnaise to dip the eggs into. Dinner is bolognese but I’m having mine with a small aubergine halved, covered in olive oil and microwaved to cook it. Like a baked potato but an aubergine!

lots and lots and lots of water too….

potas · 01/01/2024 15:20

@BIWI could you add me to the spreadsheet (if I haven't already) 126 pounds
Thanks

Roundthebend45 · 01/01/2024 15:23

Forgot to say I have boiled some extra eggs for emergency snacks (or I will eat for breakfast tomorrow) and made a big green soup with kale, celery and cabbage with some Stilton and cream. That will be for my lunches this week from tomorrow, as I am back to work and want to be prepared so I don’t think of eating anything else…

BIWI · 01/01/2024 15:42

I've added people and re-sorted the spreadsheet, so it's nicely alphabetized now. Just hoping I haven't messed it up!

Sounds delicious, was it easy to make?
