For one month only - 4 weeks of strict Bootcamp, which means no booze.

If you want to, you can do Bootcamp Light, but with the exception of no alcohol.

All welcome! But please, only sign up if you are prepared to do the whole thing without alcohol.

Could someone remind me which low carb "bread" is the best please. I'm going to get some to keep in the freezer for emergencies!

SamuelWhiskey · 27/12/2023 17:30

Oh great! I'd love to join too. Did bootcamp a couple of years ago with some good results, but having another baby has undone all of that good work (and some!) I'm at the in laws until Jan 6th but I'll do my best to low carb regardless

I seem to recall I should follow bootcamp light when breastfeeding?

LowCarbingIn2024 · 27/12/2023 18:43

What does the detox involve @LowCarbingIn2024?

ooops Blush

Meant to write "6 week detox"
6WD = no drinking, lots of exercise, buckets of water, strict LCing.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 27/12/2023 19:20

Yes @SamuelWhiskey - Bootcamp Light for you.

Very happy for people to start late (or I suppose - grudging - to finish early). But really, it's a four week challenge, so hopefully we can keep it alcohol-free.

Definitely won't be drinking despite joining BC late - gave that up a few years ago. Would really recommend reading This Naked Mind by Annie Grace if people are interested in going alcohol free for longer than Jan (and may be a good read anyway, lots of parallels for me in the stories I tell myself for why I need carbs/sugar and all the reasons I used to drink).

Nevertoomanyfluffies · 27/12/2023 21:27

Would love to join too. Another one who doesn't drink, I used This Naked Mind to start me off there too. I really need to get sugar under control/out of my system there are parallels with drinking for me there too.
I've done bootcamp before but go back to bad habits after, I need to make it a way of life.

Oooh fabulous! I’d love to join please BIWI. I was already planning on doing dry Jan and getting back on the LC wagon so this is a perfect start! Plus DH will be overseas the whole of Jan so not too many bad influences around. I find it hard not to join him in a glass of red!
As@bluesupermoon suggested Annie Grace’s books, podcasts, YouTube’s, Facebook posts (Naked Mind) etc are excellent if you think you’ll struggle with the no booze element and/or want to go booze free for longer. I quit for a year as a proper reset but a year on its creeping back in. Very much looking forward to a detox.

I've been making this one posted on a previous BC thread. It's really easy and quick. Very pleased I have some left in the freezer for when I get home!

DressingGown · 28/12/2023 07:03

Me too please!

blackteaplease · 28/12/2023 07:11

I'm in

Baystard · 28/12/2023 07:18

I'm in, thank you for inviting us all @BIWI

I don't plan on weighing this time but want to fit comfortably into a particular pair of trousers for a function at the end of the month.

Frumpyunicorn · 28/12/2023 07:24

Hi everyone, I will join from the 2nd. I have been back to eating carbs this week and I have to say they don't suit me, I feel headachey and sluggish. I don't drink a lot and found that this naturally reduced anyway when doing bootcamp so a month alcohol free will be fine.

Baystard · 28/12/2023 08:04

I'm also going to try going cold turkey on social media for January and have a bit of a digital detox.

sheepdreams · 28/12/2023 08:40

I’m definitely in too. Need a reset with LC WOE and this will help immensely.

Applerumleandcustard · 28/12/2023 09:45

I’m in , had already planned a Dry January , and I’m feeling puffy and bloaty from too many mince pies
I just need a suitable name change

Enchanted82 · 28/12/2023 10:58

Yes please! Never done one before so please help with what I need to do!

cathyandclaire · 28/12/2023 11:10

I'm in - feeling tired, bloated and boozy after Xmas excesses. Aiming to lose 8 pounds, reset my appetite( s) and cut the carb creep.

BIWI · 28/12/2023 11:58

@Enchanted82 if you read ^ you'll see a link to the spreadsheet. If you look at the tabs at the bottom, you'll find Bootcamp rules.

I'm going out now, but when I'm back I'll post a fuller piece about what you can/can't eat, so you get the whole picture.

EffortlessDelegation · 28/12/2023 17:02

I’m in, the alcohol isn’t generally a problem for me as I don’t drink much, but I definitely need a kickstart on the eating habits again, thank you @BIWI

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 28/12/2023 20:05

OK - here's the general info about what we don't eat when we're low carbing:

As well as following the rules, you need to know which foods you won't be eating during Bootcamp. These are:

  • pasta/noodles/rice (of any colour or type)
  • bread, in any form
  • pastry
  • sweet and savoury biscuits/crackers
  • sugar (which also includes honey, agave syrup and fruit sugar)
  • flour (and sauces/gravy thickened with flour)
  • cakes
  • full sugar fizzy drinks, and squash/cordial
  • fruit juice
  • potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweetcorn, beetroot
  • balsamic vinegar (all other vinegars are fine)
  • grains/pulses/legumes (which includes peas)
  • sweets
