Low Carb Bootcamp challenge - lose half a stone before Christmas

BIWI · 07/11/2023 17:09

If we start next Monday, there are 6 weeks leading up to Christmas.

Hopefully that means that we can drop 7lbs in those weeks - but only if we're properly strict.

It's entirely up to you if you want to do strict Bootcamp, or Bootcamp Light across those 6 weeks, although I'd suggest that if you haven't got too much to lose, you veer towards a stricter approach.

It's also, we need to bear in mind, a more difficult time of the year to think about losing weight as there are likely to be more social occasions, so a stricter approach around all of those events is probably a good one!

Who's in?!

Hi everyone, it's 1lb off for me which I am happy with. I have a funeral this week which will involve some carbs but hoping to stick to it apart from then. It will also be a bit of a test as will be the first proper carby food I will have had since starting in September so I am hoping (and planning) to get straight back to it afterwards.

OldandTired66 · 20/11/2023 12:24

Fantastic weight losses, well done everyone! I was away with friends all weekend so didn't weigh in this morning. I've used Friday's weight a 2lb loss- as encouragement to get back on strict BC this week to undo the damage before my next weekend away in a couple of weeks 😬.

thehoundschicken · 20/11/2023 12:26

I've dropped 3lbs first week, was all day dance comp yesterday and facilities where dire, had a square sausage roll without the roll and protein shake wirh 6g carbs so first thing over, we managed to escape for three hours to a country pub during it and I ordered roast with just the meat and veg so could have been worse.

@LC4life haha yep they got a McDonald's on way home, at worst I could always get one too burger without the bun

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 20/11/2023 13:24

Happy Monday again - well done everyone.

Had a great lasagne for a dinner with friends (here) over the weekend. The herby mince was layered with (sliced and roasted) aubergine and BIWI's cheese sauce with extra mozzarella added to make it thicker in texture. Amazing - and very satisfying. I prefered it to the pasta version - and that is not usual for me.

ch4shirecat1234 · 20/11/2023 13:52

How is everyone getting on with this? Trying to stay motivated!

BIWI · 20/11/2023 15:13

Well if you read the thread @ch4shirecat1234 you'll find out!

This whole thread is about how well people are doing.

Are you joining us? If so, let me know and I'll put you on the spreadsheet.

STS today but I was down a pound yesterday Smile to 12st 3lb.

I suspect the lack of water yesterday did for me Blush - it really does make all the difference Shock

BIWI · 20/11/2023 16:47

Are you going to enter it on the spreadsheet @prettybird? Or do you need me to do it for you?

OP posts:
prettybird · 20/11/2023 17:02

Can you do it please @BIWI Flowers - not sure when I'll next fire up the laptop Blush

BIWI · 20/11/2023 17:03

I will do! What was your starting weight?

prettybird · 20/11/2023 17:10

Just catching up after a few days of not reading.

Well done for all the losses.

I was quite off plan for the last few days. Was travelling and only had access to bread for large stretches of time. Well salads and fruit available too but not safe to eat.
So I will be digging deep to get back on plan. I find it really difficult to give up carbs again if I start eating bread. I seem to crave sugar.
I got home from travelling and was looking longingly at some marzipan but resisted.

Will weigh in tomorrow am.

Goodiewhemper · 20/11/2023 22:24

I am down 2.2lbs and am fairly happy with that. I would love to do similar this week.

BIWI · 20/11/2023 23:45

OK - there are a few posters who haven't posted on the spreadsheet at all:

@friggingnora
@Letsrunabath
@venusandmars

Do you want me to take your names off?

@BIWI I’m really tired so may not explain properly but didn’t the spread sheet last time show a percentage of what was lost or did I imagine it 😂
No worries though. It’s great to track it and I’m definitely one who’s motivated by how others are doing too.

pinknsparkly · 21/11/2023 08:57

@ChimneyPot - I know exactly what you mean about trying to climb back onto this WOE after a binge! My operation was a success yesterday medically, but not great in terms of food. I had to fast from midnight and nothing to drink from 6am. So by the time I was back on the ward I felt truly dessicated (I'm breastfeeding so put me first on the list which at least helped a bit!). They gave me a brown bread tuna mayo sandwich and some biscuits but I had to drink a whole glass of water between each bite just to get it down! Then I got home to an enormous bar of galaxy chocolate from my husband. However, the chocolate is almost all gone now 😳 so I'm drawing a line under yesterday and starting again with greek yogurt and peanut butter for breakfast. I'm hoping one day off piste won't show too badly on the scales!

Good luck today everyone!

BIWI · 21/11/2023 09:22

@Gnomegnomegnome you know how I wang on about people reading all the thread?:

You can tell @FinallyHere hasn't done this, as it's basically Spreadsheet101 - no fancy bells or whistles! But it seemed appropriate, given that this is a short, sharp sort-of challenge.

From the beginning of this thread.

Gnomegnomegnome · 21/11/2023 11:09

@BIWI thanks. I haven’t read the whole thread and I’m very sorry. Now I know.

islandtiger · 20/11/2023 07:41

Well done all, so encouraging to see this news. I've been a bit quiet, came down with the cold from hell on Saturday but happy enough with 1lb down. Might lose a bit more if this keeps up. 🚰 🍋 🫚 . Wondering if it could be 'carb flu' as I've had a flu jab. 🤔 Will post a recipe for aubergine and tomato soup on the recipe thread, it has lots of garlic, quite satisfying for lunch especially with a dollop of cream.

That soup sounds great!

Sunsnowsun · 21/11/2023 12:57

Morning can I join you all?
I know I’m a bit late, but would be good to loose some lbs before Christmas and I know this works for me.
I will weigh myself tomorrow

BIWI · 21/11/2023 13:10

Of course you can join! Do you want me to put you on the spreadsheet?

OP posts:
Sunsnowsun · 21/11/2023 13:13
