Morning all.

Happy Back to School Day! Grin

Weird night here with lots of rain and a huge thunderstorm that seemed to be right outside my bedroom window. But the lawn and plants obviously enjoyed it. And it's a lovely day now - blue sky and sunshine.

Here's the spreadsheet

... and a quick glance shows me that there are five Bootcampers who look like they may reach the milestone of losing a stone by the end of the 8 weeks!

@Chocausaurus - total loss so far 13.8 pounds
@imsofancy - total loss so far 12.3 pounds
@loopylu26 - total loss so far 11.2 pounds
@sunshinelove - total loss so far 11 pounds
@WeknowfrogsgoShaLaLaLaLa - total loss so far 10 pounds

Fingers crossed you can do that in the net 2 weeks!

Storm kept me awake too - looking at lightningmap, it was all around us, for quite a while!

I have a loss :) Not a lot, but it is a loss. I can now say I have list OVER 2 stone since Easter so that feels good.

Hoping to continue a downward trend 😀

Koko!!

FinallyHere · 05/09/2022 08:26

Thank you for the new thread @BIWI and gratters to everyone KOKO (Keeping On Keeping On KOKO)

That was quite the thunderstorm overnight, wasn't it.

BIWI · 05/09/2022 08:51

Brilliant @comfortablyfrumpy - time to change that username I think!

Thanks @BIWI Great results for all those at nearly a stone this bootcamp. And woo hoo! Over 2 stone since Easter well done @comfortablyfrumpy

1.4lbs down for me. I started 13th August so it’s been notorious week 3 for me and I’ve had a birthday. Pleased to see I am perfectly capable of celebrating my birthday without cake an alcohol. The weekend included a meal out where I chose wisely and had cheese instead of desert and a day trip where I said no to the huge wedges of cake everyone else had mid afternoon. 😇
Birthday food was a lovely scrambled egg, smoked salmon and samphire brunch and a ratatouille and halloumi dinner followed by chocolate mouse from a previous bootcamp, cream and raspberries. The recipe I mean, I haven’t had it in the fridge for months!

Hoping to drop under the next stone before I go on holiday in 9 days. 1lb takes me there. What is everyone planning to eat today? I have leftover ratatouille which I’ll put in an omelette I think.

5thWisdom · 05/09/2022 09:19

Good morning Week Seveners.

Scales are showing 1lb off for me today. Happy with that!

Needed room in my freezer so cooked a roast turkey over weekend for 10 people. Meals for week will be consisting mostly of turkey. Please send your roast turkey meat recipes this way Grin

FinallyHere · 05/09/2022 09:27

perfectly capable of celebrating my birthday without cake an alcohol.

Inspirational @Jollyholibobs I just love this.

StuntNun · 05/09/2022 10:19

Well done everyone on their weight loss. It's been rather quiet on here lately, hasn't it?

I got up to watch the thunderstorm @FinallyHere it was spectacular.

I heard a weird low carbing tip this week, replacing the topping of cottage pie with cauliflower cheese. Has anyone tried it?

Lougle · 05/09/2022 11:21

Well done all!

bandbsmummy · 05/09/2022 11:49

A gain for me this week as I didn't manage to escape the cake and the alcohol on my birthday. We moved house last week too and in all the chaos DH decided I needed 4 birthday cakes - 2 of which I avoided and 2, 1 person ones at restaurants that I at least managed to share with the rest of the table. I'm actually quite cross with DH especially as we'd had a conversation about keeping up the good eating whilst away and picked restaurants specifically where it was easy to avoid carbs.

Chocasaurus · 05/09/2022 16:40

@BIWI really hoping I make it! Will have to weigh in early this week as we are off on holiday on Sat for a week, hoping for one last push this week 🙏

CleanQueen123 · 05/09/2022 18:19

Finally a loss for me! 2lbs which means I've hit the half stone mark. Not as much as I hoped I'd have lost by now but slow and steady wins the race as they say.

PennyPinkPineapple · 05/09/2022 19:56

Evening all! 2lbs off for me this week which means I've hit 14lbs! 🥳🥳 I am officially no longer obese according to the NHS BMI calculator, just overweight 😂 and if I lose 1lb more I'll see an 11 on the scale for the first time since lockdown 2020.

I need to stay focused...

Sunsnowsun · 05/09/2022 20:54

Evening all, 1.5lbs off for me, which I’m really pleased with as have just been in France on holiday for 2 weeks.

@StuntNun if you can get Celeriac that works really well as mash.

I sleep through the thunderstorm, not sure how !!
Hope your weeks go well.

sushinelove · 05/09/2022 20:56

I'm not much of a poster, but this bootcamp is keeping me on track more than I could have imagined. Ideally I'd lose 4 stone, to be almost a quarter gone is the motivation I need to keep going. So thanks @BIWI for all the work you put into helping us

BIWI · 05/09/2022 21:26

It's my great pleasure @sushinelove!

Fabulously well done everyone!

Bootcamp definitely works :) Together we will shift the blub 😀

venusandmars · 05/09/2022 22:51

@bandbsmummy it is so ingrained in other people that there HAS to be cake for every occasion - to celebrate, to cheer you up, to deal with bad news...

And now I see that many cakes are not only cake, but cake with added biscuits or sweets. The oreo cake, the toblerone cake, the (name any popular confectionary) cake. It's got cake layer, 'confectionary' layer, more cake, sickly sweet icing on the top with whatever biscuit or sweet stuck into it.

Have a biscuit with your tea, or have a small slice of cake, but these monstrosities are really having your cake and eating it!

Ditto having a burger and chips on your pizza, or a meal with a side dish of cheese and bacon maccaroni. (mac'n'cheese used to be a meal in itself, not a side!)

OK rant over.

Holiday trip to Scottish islands will have some variable food, no doubt. But fresh air, gentle exercise, no work... The lack of stress makes it so much easier to say 'no' to things.

BIWI · 06/09/2022 08:32

Too true @venusandmars

Even as a child (obviously way before I was low carbing!) I wasn't a fan of cake. I didn't mind a plain Victoria sponge, with a light dusting of sugar on the top and fresh cream in the middle - but sickly sweet icing and buttercream was a real turn-off.

And as for the cupcake fad - absolute yeuch as far as I'm concerned! Makes my teeth ache just thinking about them.

But I think the whole Krispy Kreme/cupcake trends/fads just showed how we're inured to/expect things to be so sweet - as well as so prominent in our diets these days. We, as a nation, are definitely addicted to sugar, I think.

There’s been some great loses this week, always encouraging to read for extra motivation.

1lb off for me so very happy with that especially as it’s been a battle to stay on plan as been so busy with work over the past few weeks. Also had a rough few days as had a tooth abscess, luckily managed to get an emergency dentist appointment straightaway but it was sore for a few days. Survived on yogurt and cream, and scrambled egg with smoked salmon cooked with all the butter and cream on very buttery seriously low carb toast so didn’t I starve!

I’ve a birthday in the house this week then family visiting this weekend, I shall plan and try my best to follow WOE although I’ll be off antibiotics so I’m sure I’ll enjoy a few G&Ts this weekend.

Have a good week everyone

ditavonteesed · 06/09/2022 11:20

Half off which I'm really happy with.

Can I share my day so far. Dd tells me last night she hasn't got her enrolment email from uni and all her friends have, half an hour on hold to enrolment they tell me there is a problem with application can't tell me what. Need to speak to admissions, half an hour on hold, wrong number, another 45 minutes on hold and guy answers, can't understand why she hasn't been out into enrolment. Offer is unconditional. Oh wait... it's for next year. Thank god he was able to change it on the phone and I made him stay on the line till he had sent her an email confirmation. Hopefully should get enrolment stuff by end of week. Dd is autistic and I'm a stress head. This is not good.
I was going to head to the gym but my heart is going very fast and I have flashing lights so I think I'll sit down for a bit first. On the plus side I did most of the cleaning whilst on hold. I feel like from the minute her suits didn't come through it's been anything that can go wrong will.
On the plus side dd2 enjoyed her first day at new school and had no problems with the long bus journey.

ShagMeRiggins · 06/09/2022 11:58
