Looking forward to it. These threads have really kept me going.
Even after just a few months of this, I feel so much better. Almost 1.5 stone since Easter. I had got to the point where I was feeling really bloated and uncomfortable. I'm now in jeans I couldn't get past my knees 2 months ago. Still a way to go as I realise losing another 1.5 would do wonders for my wellbeing as I get older.
I've honestly found it fairly easy to stick to - except for the water. I've never managed as much as I'm supposed to with this. But I've been losing 1-2 lb a week on average so I'm happy with that. (Though plateaued a bit the last few weeks but that tells me I'm due a drop!).
I have been completely on the wagon, even when baking for other people, apart from yesterday when I decided to have a small lemon drizzle cupcake I'd made for a local event (no icing so could have been worse). For QC purposes you understand. Bloody delicious and I savoured every crumb. I think one small breach is pretty good in 3 months. Firmly back on it now. Thing is, a few months ago I'd have had one with a cuppa, then another a bit later, and maybe one a little while after... just to make sure :)
For anyone new to this - I thought it would be difficult but basically I cook fairly normally for the family but just omit rice/pasta/potatoes for me. I substitute roast cauliflower or cabbage papardelle for my carbs. Breakfast is full fat greek yog with chia seeds and a few blueberries in the week, and bacon and scrambled egg and mushrooms at the weekend. Lunch is a salad, usually with avodaco or hard boiled egg and some mayo.
I do make myself a batch of cheesey biscuits every week, based on a recipe from the Fast 800 Keto. Only 1g carb each :) My version is 120g strong cheddar, grated, 60g ground almonds, 3tbsps mixed seeds and an egg white. All mixed up, divided up into 10 balls and flattened down. 15 mins at 180 fan and Bob's yer proverbial. I have one mid morning as a snack, and I also have them as my cheese or pate crackers.
I also allow myself a bit of 85% chocolate of an evening, and have found that cocoa (not in this weather obs) made with proper baking cocoa and hot water, cooled a bit and then with cream on top, is really good!
Here's to a fabulous bunch of losers cheering each other on through the next BC :)
