Sorry for the late start.

Here's the spreadsheet for you to confess all!

A quick peek shows some really good early results, with @UnOeufIsEnough and @loopylou3030 both hitting the half stone mark. Brilliant! Flowers

Hello @Upontherooftops , welcome 🙂

It's worth persevering through the carb flu, when you get through it you'll be grand!

Well done on your loss!

prettybird · 09/05/2022 20:15

@Lougle ~They mix pots on the same tray. You can not reliably look at the front row of the tray to see if they have 10% authentic yoghurt. You must search deep.

You also need to search the tray below, if there is more than one level Shock

They so need a project manager. Today, I saw their 0% fat individual flavoured yoghurts right next to their 'Extra thick and creamy' individual yoghurts. Virtually identical packaging. Who would do that?

prettybird · 09/05/2022 20:28

@Upontherooftops - I started my first Boot Camp in May 2017 at 14st 15lb. By Christmas I was down to 11st 13lb - even though I'd fallen off the wagon a few times.

Usually I now fluctuate within the 11st somethings since then but after a major falling off the wagon (I seem to self-sabotage when I get close to 11st - need to work on that Blush), I started this BootCamp at 12st 12.5lb Shock But at least I wasn't back up close to 15st Wink And I've lost nearly half a stone already! Smile

prettybird · 09/05/2022 20:30

I have in the past bought the 0% fat Greek yoghurt by mistake. It was foul. I threw it out. I'm now very careful about checking! Grin

Baystard · 09/05/2022 20:32

They do it with chorizo too @Lougle , you need to hunt through all the trays to find the spicy/standard one. I assume it's on purpose - they only need space for one stack of trays yet can provide 2 varieties.

Our Lidl feels like the human equivalent of the 'enriched environment' they give captive apes where they need to scour their enclosure to find the food, it's like a brain training session 😁

I'll forgive them every time though since their sausages are 95% pork 😂

Rshard · 09/05/2022 20:40

I love your cat @Livelongandprosper!

100% agree on zero fat Greek yoghurt - horrible.

Lougle · 09/05/2022 20:43

My new scales have arrived. Now I'll have the dilemma of 'have I actually lost/gained weight since yesterday, or is it just that the new scales read high/low?' and as I am replacing my old scales because they are fluctuating, they won't help 😁

TheRealShedSadie · 09/05/2022 20:46

Today I ate:

B- G yogurt
L- prawn Mayo salad with avocado
D- lamb steaks pan fried with anchovies, garlic and thyme. (Adapted from a Nigella recipe). On pile of watercress and broccoli spears.
S- tea, coffee and cream

Feeling very full today so no snacks

mimosa1 · 09/05/2022 20:58

Lol at your cat @Livelongandprosper Wink

I made the most delicious meal yesterday from an old Jamie Oliver recipe: a smear of pesto on a plate topped with rocket and Parmesan shavings (and pine nuts after week 2) dressed with olive oil and lemon with sliced steak over it. Gorgeous!

B - LC roll W butter
L - LC roll with ham and cheese
S - cheese, cherry toms and LC "crackers"
D - burger and tomato salad and a frozen slushie (LC but lots of sweeteners)
Cups of tea and Diet Coke - eleventy billion

Not the best day food wise. DD is ill and DH is away and I've hbeen swamped at work but still - must do better tomorrow. I've just done a big supermarket order for nice salads things as the weather warms up it should be nice to have

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 09/05/2022 21:03

Today I had:

Black pudding and courgette, pepper and tomato for breakfast.

Greek yoghurt and cream for lunch.

Stir fry with beef, pepper, aubergine, shallots, cabbage and garlic for dinner followed by greek yoghurt and cream.

Lucienandjean · 09/05/2022 21:19

Today's food:
B: creamy coffee and a boiled egg
L: prawns, mayo, lettuce, cucumber, peppers, avocado, lots of avocado, oil and vinegar dressing
D: chicken fried in garlic butter, mashed swede, purple sprouting broccoli, tomato.
S: lump of cheddar

Litres and litres of water (slosh, slosh)

Frenchpoodle · 09/05/2022 21:46

Some lovely meal ideas on the thread, thanks everyone for the inspo.

Today’s offering
L: Chicken drum sticks & olives
D: Tzatziki, massive Greek salad with chicken and sausage

Been on the road today, so managed this in a packed lunch and a pretty decent LC takeaway. Preferable to a Greggs!

heliosfountain · 09/05/2022 22:40

I've had a good day today, ate well and then went for a swim with one of my teens. I am V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W but managed 25 lengths, got to be better than parking my bum on the sofa!

L: homemade mackerel pate on sliced cucumber
T: roast chicken inc. crispy skin with tenderstem brocolli & butter

3l water

APerfectlyGoodName · 09/05/2022 23:15

I forgot to weigh before work. So I'm putting in a number from earlier in the week. It's a 3 lb loss over 10 days. But I definitely feel trim, so koko.
B. Cheesy mushrooms omelette
L. Greek yogurt& peanut butter.
D. Greek yogurt and peanut butter.
Clearly not a good day, foodwise. I'm tired & distracted as I have a job interview tomorrow. I'll do a shop after.
Congratulations losers (& everyone else).

Ulelia · 10/05/2022 00:36

Monday I had:
B: Kale, cheese, yoghurt
L: Salad with egg and cheese, oily dressing and tempeh (It's nearly gone!)
T: Tofu noodles, stir fry veg in mushroom sauce, egg, cheese.

My husband made the stir-fry and the sauce is not low carb. Not massive but not low. It made me really thirsty for some reason!
Feeling very sorry for myself. Just been for a run and fell over after about 5 minutes. Bashed one knee, both palms, and an elbow and broke my phone screen. Boo-hoo!

mimosa1 · 10/05/2022 04:40

Oh no @Ulelia hope you're feeling better

averywittyusername · 10/05/2022 05:32

Really pleased with my progress! It's good to hear what others are eating, I tend to get stuck in a rut so I like the inspiration.

Rshard · 10/05/2022 07:18

Well done on your swim @heliosfountain! you’re absolutely right, you swam faster than all those sitting on the sofa. That’s what I remind myself as I’m slowly plodding round on a run.

Ouch @Ulelia hope you’re ok.

ditavonteesed · 10/05/2022 07:24

@Livelongandprosper well done to the cat, that's some good body weight percentage.
My old spaniel is also on a diet but we are looking for non scale victories (like I can do his harness up) rather than actual weight else he gets self conscious.
@prettybird I also seem to self sabotage at around 11 stone. No Idea why.
I am suffering with the repercussions of a big celebration on Saturday, it's amazing how quickly my weight flies up when I consume alcohol.

Having a bit of a hard time here due to the impending GCSEs and a levels for 2 already very anxious girls but am koko. It took dh 3 hours to get home from work yesterday due to motorway closure and football so they all had takeaway, I had a chicken kebab with garlic mayo and only ate the meat and salad, I know that's far from perfect but I didn't think it was a bad choice.

ditavonteesed · 10/05/2022 07:33

Meant to say for those struggling with daily fluctuations in weight happy scale is a great app.

boredsolicitor · 10/05/2022 07:48

can someone help me understand the yoghurt issue?
i buy fage 0% and it has the same carb content as 5% (3g per 100) but half the cals . surely that must be ok? i like it as i don't really like the super creamy ones as much

on a different subject the tom kerridge low carb cook book has some nice recipes in it he does use fruit though but in small quantities so may be best for post boot camp. good for
new ideas and dinner party type recipes as well

ditavonteesed · 10/05/2022 07:51

@boredsolicitor the higher the fat content the fuller you feel for longer, this woe works by making you not hungry, the fat is the essential part of that.

boredsolicitor · 10/05/2022 08:05

ok i thought it was the high protein that makes you feel full . i suppose as long as it doesn't have a negative impact it will be ok -accepting it might not be as effective as the full fat one

prettybird · 10/05/2022 08:10

@boredsolicitor As @ditavonteesed says, the fat is an essential part of this WoE. It's what your body will use for energy, as well as keeping you fuller for longer.

Once your body is ketogenically adapted, it needs to know it has access to plenty of fat. It then won't lay down all the fat that you eat , which will go straight through you Shock. Instead it will use your body fat for fuel Smile

In fact, if someone's weight is stalling, sometimes the solution is to add more fat in! Confused

This is not a calorie counting way of eating. Grin

It's also why it's important to drink all the water: your body needs it to metabolise the fat. I like to visualise it as peeing the fat away Smile

BIWI · 10/05/2022 08:19

Morning all.

Just picking up on a few recent posts. Sorry if these have already been answered, but to give my perspective/views:

First, to wish @APerfectlyGoodName best of luck in your interview. Please make sure you include plenty of veg and salad in your shop today though! (And NO NUTS in the first two weeks of Bootcamp, which includes peanut butter!)

@Ulelia ow, ow, ow! And bummer about the phone. That stir-fry, while it sounds lovely, will have been really too carby - it's not just the sauce, it's the noodles as well as the sauce.

@ditavonteesed sorry for stressful times; I'm very glad that my DC are no longer going through the torture of exams!

I had a chicken kebab with garlic mayo and only ate the meat and salad

... absolutely nothing wrong with this! A good solution given the context, and will not have been too carby.

@boredsolicitor

Have you actually read Bootcamp rules, or any of the FAQs that have been posted?! Low carbing is a high fat diet. And we don't count calories.

If you don't like the higher fat ones, it's OK - you don't have to eat them! - but please remember that we're aiming to eat macronutrients in the following proportions:

fat: protein: carbohydrate

Fat is what will keep you feel full. It also has no impact on your blood sugar, which is what we're aiming for - unlike carbohydrate which will your blood sugar levels spiking.

Please, please, please read some of the resources on the spreadsheet about low carbing (and why fat is important).
