Evening all. Slightly earlier than usual as I'm taking to my bed with Man Flu. (The most serious of all colds, don't you know?!)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness as ever

So this is our last two weeks. Still time, though, to get rid of a few pesky pounds. Perhaps time to consider going back to strict Bootcamp, if you've been following Bootcamp Light over the last few weeks?

Next week I'm going to try another recipe from Keto Kitchen, which looks lovely - Spicy Cottage Pie. I like a good shepherd's pie, and this one sounds very tasty and a bit different from what I usually make.

Thank you for all those you who delurked last week!

Here's to a good week for all of us Flowers

Oh bummer @BIWI - hope you don't have it too badly.

May I ask how long you had cold/sore throat symptoms before testing positive?

LostMyLastHatfulOfWords · 28/02/2022 14:04

So sorry to hear that BIWI... wlshing you well very soon.

BIWI · 28/02/2022 14:12

@Fleecy

Oh bummer *@BIWI* - hope you don't have it too badly.

May I ask how long you had cold/sore throat symptoms before testing positive?

I started feeling a bit 'off' on Friday. Thought it was just a cold, but as I go to the gym with a PT on Saturday, and as DH was going to visit a friend who's CV later on Saturday, thought I'd better do a test. Test was negative.

Given that you can have false negatives, I thought I'd test again today, although I was still convinced it was just a cold. Clearly not! The 'T' line came up on the test even before the 'C' line did.

Unfortunately it's DS1's birthday today and DS2's on Saturday, so I won't be able to do anything with them. And as DS1 is living with us, I'm up in our bedroom to stay away from him. He's on a stupid 8 hours contract at work and so can't afford to be off sick.

That's so crap@BIWI hope you start to feel better soon, you'll have to do delayed celebrating. Big time sucky.

SpottyBumPony · 28/02/2022 17:34

@BIWI sorry you are feeling rotten. I had roasted cauliflower with rape seed oil and smoked cheddar melted over it for lunch. Yum.

BaconOmelette · 28/02/2022 18:04

Ohhh no @BIWI hope you’re feeling better soon.

@SpottyBumPony very cute puppy. I’m intrigued by the keto ice cream bar, will have to go and Google that later.

Had a good few days away, including a day out and lots of visiting. Managed to stay on plan and feeling super pleased to have 3.2 lbs off this morning. 11.8 lbs in total now. Would be fab to get to a stone before the end of boot camp but I’m on a long term plan anyway so not the end of the world if I don’t quite make it over the next few weeks.

Generally I’m much less hungry, although today has been a bit of a munchy day. Tried the lo-dough wrap thing for lunch (made cheesy garlic bread) it wasn’t that great really, might use up the others for pizzas but don’t think I’d buy any more.

Belly pork and all the random fridge veg for tea tonight.

Back in the office tomorrow so I’d better get some lunch prepped to. Have a lovely evening all Smile

NigellaAwesome · 28/02/2022 19:11

Hello everyone,

Sorry to hear of those who are not well, and BIWI I hope the ‘rona doesn’t floor you too much. Flowers

I fell off the wagon a bit at the weekend. I went away to our holiday home by myself to do some maintenance. Had packed proper food (ribeye steak, mushrooms & Brussels sprouts, plenty of eggs etc) and discovered someone had left ice cream in the freezer. Then I discovered some biscuits. I’m not sure why I fell off, but I suspect it had something to do with me dealing with a long running and stressful legal case a few days before which had necessitated reviewing associated material. The only saving grace is that I didn’t fall into alcohol, and today is my 8 week anniversary since I started dry January.

I’m back on it today, and I’m still down on the scales, (2.5 pounds) but I need to buck up my ideas a bit as I recognise that I have an all or nothing approach to my endeavours, so I need to stick with the ‘all’.

B: Coffee
L: Spinach & tomato frittata
D: Coleslaw & crunchy tuna affair.
About to start into my evening fruit teas.

I hope everyone has a good week ahead of them.

Baystard · 28/02/2022 20:07

Hope you feel better soon @BIWI

@Fleecy I had it last week, I had a slightly scratchy throat, negative lateral flow but I took a pcr because DH had covid and it's how his started. I didn't have a positive lateral flow until day 5 after my throat started...

Feeling better here 12 days in from covid, bit breathless at times but much improved and have been able to sleep better (the worst symptom for me was terrible trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep). Appetite better, but still not back to normal.

B- coffee
L- fasting (didn't get time for lunch until 2pm then decided I might as well wait for dinner, no appetite)
D- chilli (did have beans in it, but it was a small portion and needed a bit of comfort - it felt very rich and nourishing). Can't face anything else though Sad

NSV my DWatch now fits me again (just), even in the evening when I'm at my most puffy! This is exciting, it's a very expensive lovely watch and I get a huge confidence boost when I wear it and it isn't adjustable except by the dealer so I've not been able to wear it since last summer.

Batshittery · 28/02/2022 20:23

Evening everyone
Sorry to hear you're not well BIWI. I hope you feel better soon Thanks

I fell off the wagon last week and gained a pound for my sins. Back on it today. I am not drinking anything like enough water so that is going to be my task for the week.

RagzRebooted · 28/02/2022 20:56

Oh @BIWI so sorry to hear you have covid, especially with such rubbish timing.

Food today
Breakfast (10:30am) - Greek yoghurt
Lunch - lettuce, can of tuna, lots of mayo
Dinner - burger (SLC bun) and bowlful of leftover beef stew.

Bit short on veg (DH was cooking) but I've just roasted 3 trays of veg (£1.50 Lidl veg boxes!) so tomorrow will be rib eye steak and roasted Mediterranean type veg (aubergine, courgette, peppers, red onion, mushrooms).

pinknsparkly · 28/02/2022 21:50

Sorry to hear you're suffering BIWI. We've also got the 'rona in this house. My husband tested positive yesterday so he is now keeping his distance from me and our daughter (or as much of a distance as she'll allow). He feels fine other than a horrible sounding cough. I'm testing negative (I'm.doing daily lateral flow tests as per my work requirements) but feel like I've been hit by a bus....

After staying the exact same weight for 4 weigh ins in a row, I dropped 3.3lb last week. Then I've weighed in at exactly the same weight tonight as I did last week. I'm wondering whether it's possible that that's just how I lose weight? Holding onto it stubbornly and then losing a bunch in a whoosh. Helpfully I've never weighed myself weekly before so don't have any other weight loss to compare to. That said, this is my third bootcamp in a row and I lost something (however small) every week in both of those. But perhaps as I'm sneaking closer to a normal BMI, my body's weight loss style has changed? Or am I simply making excuses?! Grin

BIWI · 28/02/2022 21:52

A sudden drop of 3lbs isn't unusual @pinknsparkly. We call it a whoosh!

Sorry that the 'rona is in your house too.

I can't get DH to accept the fact that I need to be away from him and DS1. He keeps saying 'just sit at the end of the sofa' or 'just sit at the table away from us' or 'are you sure you want me to sleep in the spare room'.

Yes, you divv. I don't want you or DS1 to catch it either!

OP posts:
Andi2020 · 28/02/2022 22:41

@BIWI hope you feel better soon.
It does spread quite quickly if you sit at table as I learned from my dd in November.
If the boys catch it you would get no rest as they would have you carrying food to them Grin.
Well done on losses

Sunshinegirl82 · 28/02/2022 23:06

The Keto kitchen spicy cottage pie is lovely, now a firm favourite in my house! We also like the prawn Thai curry and beef stroganoff!

I tested positive for Covid at the weekend, generally just feel knackered, like everything is a huge effort!

lobeydosser · 01/03/2022 00:16

May you feel better very quickly BIWI!
I advise a repeat dose of Dr Reacher Wink...

Jezzballs2000 · 01/03/2022 07:13

Annoyingly I've put 1LB on but i'm pretty sure it's a fluctuation but still- annoying. i am going to use it to motivate me. Only problem is I'm spending the day at my mother in laws who is very pro low fat. Maybe I'll take some boiled eggs- it's so awkward!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 01/03/2022 08:37

Morning all, just catching up. I weighed in yesterday after my week away and I lost one lb on holiday! It just shows how sedentary I am in my normal working life. My fitbit tells me I walked 52 miles in a week, so that's obviously helped!

Overall loss still a bit rubbish but enjoying this WoE and digging in for the final few weeks.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 01/03/2022 08:53

Also @BIWI hope you feel better soon Thanks

queenofcauliflower · 01/03/2022 09:23

Aw poor @BIWI! I hope you're being looked after. Can you eat much?

I am fluctuating like mad too. I went for my fancy lunch out on Saturday and ordered what I thought was very wisely (2 starters instead of starter & main) but 1 of the dishes (parfait) came with 2 x slices of sourdough. I was so cross & hungry that I ate it (I know this doesn't make sense). I was good the rest of the day (really struggled watching my friend eat a massive fancy meal and posh pudding) then lost a kg by the next morning! Then last night, I made pancakes a day early with all the sweet toppings you can imagine for my kids, didn't touch any (I absolutely love crepe pancakes so this was really hard), ate my homemade cauliflower cheese and this morning have put on a kg! I know it's probably a lag or TOTM or just daily fluctuations.

I am enjoying all the water, nearly 1kg down this morning already.

Food today is:-
L tricolore salad
T chicken & boiled eggs salad with EVOO

pinknsparkly · 01/03/2022 10:11

Can I ask all you wonderful cooks for your suggestions on how to adapt a recipe please? I really want to have welsh rarebit for dinner (I've found this recipe, though it is missing the obligatory worcester sauce, but am up for trying any alternative suggestions: www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/recipes/welsh-leek-rarebit). What would you use instead of the bread? I have two courgettes in the fridge that I could slice length wise? Would I grill them first to soften them up? Fry them? Or would you use it as a sort of thick sauce and mix veggies into it to make a kind of bake?

Jezzballs2000 · 01/03/2022 10:18

that is frustrating @queenofcauliflower! I hear you on the sourdough...

@UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea i'm taking the same approach!

I've arrived at my MIL's with my toddler for the day and still not eaten but have a little tupperware with 2 eggs and a sachet of salt. I'll need to secretly eat a chunk of butter. Actually i might need to secretly eat the eggs, i'm feeling quite awkward about deviating from the 'normal' way of eating and she'll find it weird if I pull them out. As i type this I can see i'm being silly but hard to shake! I think being overweight often leads you to being self conscious about food.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/03/2022 11:37

pinknsparkly to be honest with you, I’d be tempted to do this on some form of low carb bread.

The leek in the recipe is already giving it a bit of extra water, as would the courgette.

However, if you’ve not got any suitably low carb bread, I’d try a thickly sliced cauliflower, which at least has some crisp to it.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/03/2022 11:46

Jezzballs (and anyone else challenged by those feelings of having to hide this way of eating in certain circumstances)—I understand it, but the best thing I ever did with this was just own it, to everyone.

I know it can be hard. It’s so difficult being seriously overweight in a society that can be very unpleasant and judgmental (body positivity movement notwithstanding).

We all know the reasons we’re investing in LCHF. It not only works for weight loss, it works wonderfully with loads of other health and well being benefits (blood pressure, IBS, better skin, etc).

If you’re not ready to “come out” then at least try to find a way to take your mind off planning the sneaky eating. You’re casting yourself in the role of a wrongdoer, as though you were planning how to sip on that bottle of vodka all day long without anyone noticing!

You’re doing nothing wrong. You’re doing something really, truly good for yourself, which will not only benefit you but also your loved ones.

Enough of my sermon; keep sharing your feelings here, please. Everyone here is on your side—everyone’s side, in fact.

WATER WATER WATER! Grin
