Afternoon! We were out with friends last night and stayed over, so only just back to catch up. Here comes a mammoth thread:
@NigellaAwesome glad to hear the skiwear panic is over!
@LoCarbLife It's really important that you overcome the fear of fat. Have a read of the resources on the spreadsheet, or if you fancy a book, get hold of anything by Gary Taubes, or Nina Teicholz's book The Big Fat Surprise. And yes, not having figures for the macros is very definitely intentional - Bootcamp is supposed to be as easy to follow as possible. Therefore no weighing/counting.
@Mimosa1 - yes - you definitely need to ditch the sweetcorn! It's very high in carbs, at 13.9g carbs per 100g. (The clue is in the name ...)
@Oneborneverydecade I'm not really a fan of non-dairy milks, as I don't think any of them have the same taste or texture as dairy milk. I'd rather just limit my intake of dairy milk, or have black coffee. However, I should also warn you that oat milk is really carby - Oatly whole milk is 6.6g carbs per 100ml.
Sorry to hear about the pork pie @CeleriacOfTheNight. It's awful when you look forward to something and then it's so disappointing! My pizza bases made with their flour were really not very nice, and so I did email the company asking if they had their own recipe for making them, and they basically just shrugged their shoulders (in an email way, of course!) and said they didn't. Just keep experimenting and let them know
@YesIcan3 after the first two weeks of Bootcamp we move on to Bootcamp Light. Have a look at the spreadsheet for the rules. Basically it allows you to include some fruit (mainly berries), some nuts/seeds and some alcohol. All in moderation.
And well done on the 7lbs! Also @DearZoom
@BaconOmelette it could very well be the start of carb flu, especially if your diet before was very carb heavy. Drink plenty of water and keep the fats up, but also consider your electrolytes. Have you read what I've written before about carb flu and electrolytes?
@BSky a little vanilla extract or bean paste in yoghurt is lovely. (Just a little though!)
@Random789 remember that one of the things we're aiming to do with Bootcamp is to break the hold that sweet things have over us. So ideally you shouldn't be looking for dessert options to finish off a meal.
@YesICan3 just be aware that the Twinings infusion is artificially sweetened.
@Theghostofchristmasarse @queenofcauliflower @AThroneOfLies @DearZoom if you have a look at the tabs on the spreadsheet, you'll see that there's one for economy recipes. I know that many of the things we've talked about on here might be expensive, but low carbing really doesn't have to be so! Fattier cuts of meat are generally cheaper than leaner ones - so 20% fat beef mince, or shin of beef for example. There are also lots of vegetarian recipes that would be cheap to cook.
That said, I do understand that there's a lot of pressure on budgets. I'll see if I can come up with some more recipes or suggestions.
@oviraptor21 why do you need an after-exercise snack?!
