Is anybody interested in a January Low Carb Bootcamp?

The last one was pretty quiet, so I'm trying to gauge how many would be interested in a January one - probably starting around the middle of the month.

Actually ignore that, just found one!

Iluvfriends · 02/01/2022 16:57

I would love to give this a go. Is there any links to recipes, preferably simple to make meals that dont have 100 ingredients lol.
Unfortunately this is the part where i fail, being organised with cooking and preparing meals.

Actually, having read the breakfast thread, there seem to be very few that are compliant with the rules for boot camp! People suggesting porridge, fruit, nut and seed based things…how is that in line? Are we allowed nut butters? Could really do with some inspiration, especially for something quick and easy rather than cooked.

@Iluvfriends yes there are loads of recipes! If you to to the Low Carb Bootcamp topic, you'll find several recipe threads stickied there, all arranged by food type, e.g. beef/pork/lamb, chicken/turkey/duck, vegetarian, etc.

@CoffeeChocolateWine the thing about breakfast is that you can eat absolutely anything you want. The idea that we have special breakfast foods comes from Mr Kellogg's and his ilk.

So leftovers from the night before are fine, if you want!

@CoffeeChocolateWine - I now IF and don't usually eat until lunchtime but if I am having breakfast, I can choose from:

• Greek yoghurt with a pinch of cinnamon
• boiled eggs (soft hot or cold hard)
• fried eggs and bacon
• scrambled eggs (with cream Smile)
• smoked salmon
• left over veg from the previous night (especially shoogled sprouts Grin)
• a slice of cheese and ham

After the first two weeks, I might add a few berries to the Greek yoghurt but only if I have some. I love the plain (high fat) Greek yoghurt and cinnamon.

Thank you will have a look.

I'm up for a January bootcamp. Participated on boot camps over the years but new year, new user name!

Trying not to see the two weeks grace as an opportunity to over eat the carbs!!!

LittleMy77 · 02/01/2022 19:32

I’m in for January boot camp!

Did really well last year, gradually fell off and under the wheels of the wagon (altho did maintain some good habits) so ready to hop on again

TheIoWfairyiscancelled · 02/01/2022 19:44

I'd like to join again.
I did ok last year and have been at a stable weight until last couple of weeks. Seems like a good time to get back on track

Gardeniafleur · 02/01/2022 20:53

Me too! Hurrah

DH will be pleased. Every time there's a celeriac going soft in our fridge while I whine about not wanting to peel it, it's LOW CARB time. Poor man.
NotwatchingSpooks · 02/01/2022 21:06

Yes please

greengoose21b · 02/01/2022 21:13

@BIWI

By the way, *@greengoose21b* I came across this article just now, which might be inspiring . Personally I'd ignore the rice recipe as I really doubt the carb count can be so low for that one - but the others look tasty.
Thank you for this BIWI. I'll give some of those a go...though unfortunately I'm more of a cheese sandwich vegetarian than a spiced aubergine kebabs one.

Glad about the nuts and seeds. I buy them in bulk (2kg bags each of linseeds, sunflower and pumpkin) and mix them together to add to yoghurt for breakfast every day....it's a wonderful way of keeping one of the low carb diet's unfortunate side effects at bay IYKWIM. Wink

prettybird · 02/01/2022 21:22

Trick for "peeling" celeriac: use a large knife. Cut a chunk. Then lay it on the flat cut side and cut another large chunk. Lay that on the side and then cut slices off the outside skin. Don't worry about trying to do it neatly or about too much waste - celeriacs are impossible not to have prepare without a lot of waste Grin

The key is the large knife Wink

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/01/2022 21:23

I have a celeriac tip - buy it peeled, diced and frozen from Waitrose!

prettybird · 02/01/2022 21:38

That won't work if you like to cut long slices to make "chips" Wink

You sound a tiny bit, 'it puts the lotion on its skin' with your large knife there @prettybird Grin

I will try again. I love remoulade and could live on it!

prettybird · 02/01/2022 22:08

I'll take a picture next time I attack cut up a celeriac Wink

Ohyesiam · 02/01/2022 22:16

Yes please! Last year I lost over two stone really effortlessly on low carb and intermittent fasting ( the Dr Jason Fung approach). I found that my neurotic relationship to food really improved as not having the whole pull of low blood sugar messing around with genuine hunger really helped.
I’ve taken Christmas off and am looking forward to getting back to it ( in a slightly daunted sort of a way😁)

Thanks BIWI

Igotnewbarstools · 03/01/2022 00:21

Me please! I'm starting on the 10th

EachandEveryone · 03/01/2022 00:28

Yes please i need to get going this year. Im abit worried about my cholesterol though as its already quite high.

averywittyusername · 03/01/2022 08:58

Me too! Great to have low carb support here. I need to lose the Christmas weight (note to self, next year just don't bother with the mince pies and cheap chocolate .. NOT worth it!)

At this time of year with so much diet talk I'm always tempted to try something new.. but low carb is the only thing that works for me. Not paying any attention to vegan-uary with all those carbs. Low carb with FLGV works & makes me look and feel great. Glad to be getting back into it!
