Morning all!

Another wet and dreary day. What happened to summer?!

Anyway, for its final outing, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

It's not the end, of course - and I know many of you are keen to keep going until whenever the next Bootcamp starts. So post here for all the usual chat, banter, recipes, etc.

I need fat and water today.

Is there ANYTHING sweet I can have with no revolting stevia in it?

BIWI · 24/07/2021 10:12

What about some raspberries or strawberries, with cream, or crème fraîche?

OP posts:
StuntNun · 24/07/2021 10:27

@Bryonyshcmyony chocolate mousse is my go to, just chocolate, butter and eggs. Serve with fresh raspberries and extra thick or whipped double cream.

Bryonyshcmyony · 24/07/2021 10:59

Yes I've been eating blueberries but they are a bit sour. Raspberries would be nice.

Omg I was briefly 12.5 this morning. Not weighing now until next Thursday

Also need a low carb keto freezabke "bread" recipe for weekends, I'm sure there is one in the pinned threads but hard to search on phone

MrsKoala · 24/07/2021 11:54

@venusandmars

Wall paper the ceiling? Have you actually done that? Even with a coombe ceiling I had wallpaper on my head Grin
Grin I was joking because i'm such a maximalist always encouraging people to do more not less. But there is a point when even I say it's too much! Although I did see it done to very good effect on one of those interior design challenge shows, but the room was much paler and the wallpaper had some kind of glinting finish and it was for a 12 year old girls room.

So glad your friend is coming, that must have been so tough for her - everyone I speak to has so many tales like this. I feel so heartbroken for people. Your lunch sounds lovely.

I weighed in at 11st 9lb this morning despite my crappy dinner last night. Just had a good brunch of friend leeks, green pepper, mushrooms and chorizo and 2 fried eggs and a fried tomato. Going to do home made Wagamamas tonight after lots of lobbying from ds1. I've bought ready made pork gyoza and bao buns and some in the pod edamame beans and I am marinading some chicken thighs to do skewers. I shall do them egg fried rice and I'll just have cauliflower rice and the chicken and maybe something else but I can't really think what. I've got prawns I could do something with...

BIWI · 24/07/2021 12:09

@Bryonyshcmyony you should go easy on the blueberries, as they're quite carby at 8.7g carbs per 100g. Raspberries are 4.4g (strawberries are 5.8g)

OP posts:
BIWI · 24/07/2021 12:10

And as for bread @Bryonyshcmyony I'd recommend this . It's just like real bread but very, very low carb. It's also high in protein, so it's actually pretty filling.

Yes I did realise this a few days ago! Will lay off them

Bryonyshcmyony · 24/07/2021 12:13

That's what I have! The rolls are amazing! It's just expensive and takes ages to come. Should probably order in bulk.

Just had my last one with thick butter And peanut butter as a slovenly brunch watching the swimming!

BIWI · 24/07/2021 13:22

It is expensive - but it's the only low carb bread I've ever tried that is just like 'proper' bread.

I think their delivery times are a bit quicker these days.

Can I ask, does anyone know what I can substitute celeriac for? I can't rememberehich one, but a recipe in the recipe thread included it (i think it was a casserole type recipe if that makes a difference). None of the Asda's, Tesco's, Morrison's or Sainsbury's near me sell it, thanks.

prettybird · 24/07/2021 14:34

You can try neeps/swede, depending on what you would have wanted to use the celeriac for. Ive used them for tasty dauphinois before.

For mash, I find cauliflower (cooked to really soft) works well blitzed with some egg/Parmesan/cream. Cooked leeks apparently enhance the mash, but I've been er tried it.

KateF · 24/07/2021 19:38

I used mashed swede and leeks to top my fish pie. I'm a bit wary of using celeriac as I loathe celery!

I'm too worried about ruining my progress to go much off strict. BC rules but I enjoy the occasional bowl of yogurt, cream and raspberries. I nearly bought some 85% chocolate this morning but I'm afraid if I start eating 'treats' it'll be a slippery slope.

prettybird · 24/07/2021 19:43

@KateF - I loath celery but love celeriac Confused

I find it much, I think, sweeter than celery - different anyway, even if it does have a similar name and initially smells similar Confused

Bryonyshcmyony · 24/07/2021 20:12

I've drunk 3l of water and a large g and slimline t

Breakfast a low carb roll with butter and peanut butter

Supper leftover cold chicken, broccoli and spinach fried with olive oil butter cream and grated cheese, making a rich soupy stew thing. Delicious

prettybird · 24/07/2021 20:55

Delicious supper of crispy skinned salmon, broad bean, mint, rocket (all home grown), radish & spring onion salad and I couldn't resist one of the freshly pulled new potatoes

Raw Celery smells of cats piss to me. The taste is what I imagine it would taste like too. Celeriac doesn’t have that same smell and taste. I enjoy it mashed only with buttered leeks and topped with cheese or Roasted in olive oil with lots of fresh thyme and Rosemary or as dauphinois with lots of garlic, thyme and cream. It needs strong flavours for me to enjoy it.

venusandmars · 25/07/2021 21:13

Well, that wasn't the day I planned!!

We had a relaxed informal picnic with a group of local friends (all involved in the same hobby). Each of us were taking our own stuff, but with the idea that some extras might be shared. Usually all great because I took almond and cheese muffins, salad, mayo, few raspberries with cream.

However my friend's 14yo ds, who has asd, had been baking. He'd made cheese and vegetable muffins (in case anyone was vegetarian). Real muffins made with flour. He'd also made ginger and chocolate chip cookies. He was so eager that everyone should try them, and so pleased that we loved them. There was no way I could have said no.

Then another friend, who is pastry chef at a nearby restaurant turned up with ice cream for us all. He'd been experimenting and wanted our feedback: a triple layer of strawberry mousse ice cream, topped with seabuckthorn sorbet, topped with dark chocolate ice cream. It would be rude to refuse. And the tastes and textures were amazing together. Plus it was hot and sunny (the last day of this weather I think), and it was delightful to enjoy.

Tonight - salad.

Tomorrow - salad

Tuesday - salad

You know what’s really nice? Reading menus and concerns about sticking with Bootcamp that have to do with socialising.

I’ve just caught up on this thread and it’s delightful to have people struggling with food with friends, in restaurants, at festivals...

I know it’s a challenge, but damn y’all, it’s a good one to have. Mwah!

ShagMeRiggins · 25/07/2021 22:21

Ps— WATER! WATER! WATER!

venusandmars · 25/07/2021 22:29

Good to see you Shag

ShagMeRiggins · 25/07/2021 22:30

Pps—if anyone is near the Cambridge area, allow me to recommend a new fish butchery, shop, and restaurant. It’s called Fin Boys and is on Mill Road

It’s only been open since May, I believe, and since June they’ve decided to serve a tasting menu for dinner. Anywhere between 9-11 dishes, utterly glorious, changes regularly depending on what’s in season and best available.

The photo is from last week’s meal (we went again last night). I took notes so here’s the description I wrote in haste:

“massive beautiful scallop, popcorn ‘grits’, and swordfish ‘bacon’ (I wanted to take this dish home and have a threesome with it)”

Ahh you're all stil here!!!! I thought it was a bit quiet on the new bootcamp thread d'oh!!!

@Bryonyshcmyony I use this recipe for rolls. I've started getting regular online orders for ground almonds, flaxseed and psyllium husk as it's much much cheaper that way.

Have t worked out how they compare cost wise to the SLC bread but I'm gluten intolerant so can't have the SLC ones.

trinakrug.com/the-best-keto-buns-on-the-planet/

I make double, cut in half then freeze and they defrost really quickly. They're really quick to make.

I'm away on holiday 1 of 3 which is the easiest for food logistics. Everyone had party food so I made and thoroughly enjoyed a tuna and veg fathead pizza with salad, my own dressing and then full fat gk yog and strawbs. They had cake, I had 4 squares of dark choc, they had tonnes of crisps, I had a cheese and almond muffin sliced into thin rounds with butter on.

It was all very easy, felt totally normal and touch wood not a sniff of deprivation! Weighed at the bottom end of my new normal yesterday too so have some mental wriggle room if the other 2 trips aren't as straightforward.

Bryonyshcmyony · 26/07/2021 09:07

Thank you @FusionChefGeoff that's great. I will toddle off to the health food shop for ingredients. I'm glad to hear you had a good trip low carb wise!

I went round to a friend's last night and had two large aperol spritz - not sure how much actual spritz was going on as I feel a bit rough this morning. Ate some nuts but didn't even think about the crisps.

Is it low carb that's giving me a super dry mouth?!
