Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp
venusandmars · 26/04/2021 22:13

@Bestbees you swam a mile. I think that is 64 lengths of my local pool. Bloody hell! Well done.

Random789 · 26/04/2021 22:19

Awww, gorgeous puppy, venusandmars. S/he obviously thinks your feet smell divine.

LittleDoritt · 26/04/2021 22:24

Evening all. 2.3lbs off for me this week. Not going to set the world on fire, but a loss is a loss. Thanks for the warning about the doldrums BIWI. I'm still far too invested in what the scale says.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/04/2021 22:50

Popping on part way through reading so I don’t forget...

@Random789 we will of course need pics of said birds and puppy begs

@AthelstaneTheUnready Shock

@BIWI and @StuntNun thank you. Flow seems to be lighter today but my hormones are all over the place! Have suspicions about my thyroid being under active but will see how we go this week... I tend to avoid doctors as much as possible. Unless a limb falls off and cotton thread, a needle and gin anaesthetic won’t fix it.

Another 1 1/2 lbs off since Wednesday. Very happy, 5 1/2 lbs off since start of BC.

@BIWI you’re right, I need more green veg, am on it Grin

5’ 5” (ish!!) here and 40, would I fit in the Russian dolls lineup?!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/04/2021 22:54

@venusandmars I’m sorry, I’m going to squeeeeeeee Blush

Is it weird that puppy pics make my uterus flip whereas baby pics...🤷🏻‍♀️

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/04/2021 22:55

always said I was a bitch Grin

Covid10lbs · 26/04/2021 22:57

Exactly Dorrit A loss is a loss!

I'm down 1.1lbs, so thats 4.4 over the 2 weeks. All good except today was not great. Too long between brunch and dinner & I got over hungry - ate a massive portion of meat (and a keto bar).

@FusionChefGeoff I can relate to the overeating junk. 3 Magnums in one sitting was no bother to me. I had another thread in the LowCarb about peoples tips for success. I've had 1 successful BC, a few failures, and I'm taking this one day by day.
Plus I lie too - I have the odd square of dark chocolate or protein bar. Low carb but not BC.
You might find a WOOP helpful

FusionChefGeoff · 26/04/2021 22:58

Well what more can I say?? You lot have truly made me laugh, smile, cry and finally accept it as a minor mistake and most importantly that I am not alone.

It's going to be a long slog but my eating issues have been such a huge secret for so long it feels amazing to finally start to open up about it as hopefully that's the start of healing them.

Today has been great - insanely busy at work but I'm self employed and have had a year of scratching a living in a shutdown industry so busy is good!

Run this morning which always sets me up right. So had more water than usual to allow for that plus it was with zero tabs.

Food:

L - avocado, buttery scrambled egg, smoked salmon and chilli flakes
S - plate of celery, radish, cucumber and mini corn
D - fat heavy Bolognaise only 1 tin toms, mushrooms and courgettes in basil oil with Parmesan, grated cheese on bolognaise

3.4 litres water
3 teas with unsweetened soy milk
1 black coffee
4 herbal teas

I am heading up to bed feeling at peace with the world and it's all thanks to you lot Thanks

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/04/2021 23:04

To the poster on the last BC threads (Ragz maybe) with a twitchy lip - I get this also (along with occasional facial tics and tremors for which once I was so worried I called 111. They thought I was having a stroke, and ambulanced me to hospital Blush they couldn’t find anything.)

Later I found BC, and realised it was low magnesium Blush take a supplement now and only occasional twitches since. Might be worth a try?

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/04/2021 23:08

@FusionChefGeoff you’re incredibly strong to own your bad choices and confess here. Big respect to you and glad you had a better day today Smile

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/04/2021 23:32

Of course if you have other symptoms PLEASE get checked out!

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 27/04/2021 05:49

Morning all! I conked out around 9 last night so never managed to post meals yesterday (still very tired after Covid jab).

B: Greek yoghurt with lemon juice, rose petals (dried from my garden last summer) and crushed pistachio nuts (only 6! Am mainly still doing strict BC this week as next weekend is my husband’s birthday so I will have a mindful lapse...a careful one: no carbs except alcohol and that mainly champagne but I need to be very careful with alcohol as I am prone to overdo it, slippery slope etc).
L: a sort of Niçoise salad but with sardines and a duck egg and olives and salad leaves
S: leftover half BBQ steak with oodles of garlic tarragon melted butter and a pile of green beans and some melt-in-the mouth aubergine (fried gently with lots of oil)

Flowers for those of you with DC going through diagnosis - DS has autism and the diagnosis process is so hard. Holding hands with @MrsKoala and spectrum DC - I can’t imagine having more than one and each with different challenges Flowers

And I am very jealous of your puppy @venusandmars! Like @Random789 I am dreaming of a puppy, but haven’t yet managed to persuade DH, who is a cat lover. I am in full on stuck record mode and will grind him down eventually!

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 27/04/2021 05:52

And yes HUGE respect to
@FusionChefGeoff - very well done indeed. And also to @venusandmars
for going public with the graph! Ovaries of steel, both of you!

Sorry if I have missed the water calculator? PP up thread (sorry can’t remember who)said the calculator advised her 3.5 litres? What are the parameters?

Morning, Teds - it's in the rules - no.6 on the 'Bootcamp Rules' tab on the spreadsheet:

right here

It's on the rules tab of the spreadsheet. You should be having 2.5 litres per day Teddington Smile
debka · 27/04/2021 07:01

@FusionChefGeoff
Kudos to your honesty. I am a fellow binge eater and keto is the only woe that keeps me on the straight and narrow. I thought I'd conquered it, but when I started eating carbs again in moderation the wheels came off, and I felt myself sliding back into my secret bingeing mode. 1 is too many, and 100 is not enough.
I'm studying at the university library today and am not entirely sure what to take with me for lunch. I always put stuff in the fridge at work: warm yoghurt really doesn't appeal! Any ideas, friends?
B- bacon and eggs
L- ???
D- fajitas without the fajitas

Random789 · 27/04/2021 07:09

Here's a pic of my finches , onceupnamidnightbeery, and a bonus one of my cockateil who died last year. The puppy is only an aspiration so far so no pics as yet.

If you make a dense omelette before you go @debka, slices of that are perfectly nice at room temperature Smile

I can't deal with sweaty blocks of cheese or lukewarm mayo...

Bestbees · 27/04/2021 07:38

@venusandmars yes, 64 lengths! I find with swimming once I have done the first 15 lengths it becomes quite rhythmic and relaxing.

@debka boiled eggs? Roasted veg so it doesn't matter it gets to room temp?

Plan for today
L massive feta salad with oily dressing
D chicken thighs stuffed with sausage meat, roast courgette, green beans. Greek yog.
Exercise will be either a bike ride or walk, will do this in the evening to avoid prime snack time!
No snacks!!

Rshard · 27/04/2021 07:57

I find a Greek salad works ok without being kept in a fridge debka, despite the feta. I’ve taken them to swimming galas, very warm atmosphere and they’ve been fine.

Love the pic of pup in a slipper and the birds. I’d love a dog, I find working from home quite lonely sometimes and a dog would be good company. Dh less keen even though, aged 11 he cried on the doorstep until his mum allowed him to keep a pup he’d been offered by a family friend...

ElasticFirecracker · 27/04/2021 07:59

I'm trying to double check things I eat, especially veg. And have some questions.

Pizza sauce

I often make a version of this and the crust is very similar to the recipe on here, which Question about pizza sauce, which lists pizza sauce as an ingredient.

I usually top mine with a scattering of chopped up baby plum tomatoes. They cook well and form a sort of sauce.

Tomatoes are in the 'orange' vegetable section, so now am worried that I shouldn't be using them.

Should I

(a) not have any tomato on my pizza.

(b) carry on with what I normally do. Which means I would eat the equivalent of about 4 or 5 small tomatoes.

(c) make a tomato sauce from tinned tomatoes and seasoning?

Orange Veg in General

I notice people are having cabbage which is on the orange list. Is it OK to have a limited amount of 'orange' veg every day, but mainly 'green'.

I'm sorry if this is clearly explained somewhere, I have been looking and can't find it.

Thank you.

Pleaseandthankyou · 27/04/2021 08:00

I am trying to maintain. I have lost 1.5 stone over a year. Bmi is 25.8. I am 56. My skin is starting to look old and saggy. I am lucky my face doesn’t have too many wrinkles but It’s getting saggy round my chin. Any suggestions. I don’t fancy fasting. I like this woe because I can eat 😀. I also don’t want to do anything unnatural to my face. Are the wrinkles at my age inevitable? Most of the weight lost has come off my waist so happy with how I look in my jeans.

BIWI · 27/04/2021 08:05

@Ifeelmuchlessfat and @TeddingtonTrashbag

So you've both committed the cardinal sin of not reading!

Ifeelmuchlessfat - the conversation about height and weight came about because so many Bootcampers seemed to be either 5 ft 2in and 42, or one or the other!

TeddingtonTrashbag - even worse, you haven't even read the rules!

Please - it's really important that you have read and know what the rules are - especially when it comes to the amount of water you need to drink.

Missing out on banter isn't quite the same, but it does mean that you do miss out.
